Chapter 2653 Journey
I saw the two falling pieces of a wolf; I let them fall for a few hundred meters before taking them back into my storage.
I did not immediately move away after taking the wolf"s body; instead, I looked at the retreating monster for a few seconds before moving toward my destination.
The wolf will not be the only monster I will ever face in this ruin; there will be more, and after what I experienced, I wanted to take precautions. It would have been great if I could travel from the ground, but I could not; I had to fly and fly fast, which meant attracting attention.
The Grimms have come, and I am sure with their luck and a.r.s.enal of artifacts, they are moving toward the source of the signal. They might have even fallen a top of it, so I have to reach there as soon as possible, not let the Grimms receive any benefits.
If there are benefits there, then it would be huge without a doubt. The signal was too powerful for it to not receive any benefits.
I am traveling fast but still practicing the soul cleansing method, releasing the psychedelic energy stored in my armor into my soul before removing it with the help of soul-was.h.i.+ng waves and soul cleansing energy. It is costing me a fortune but also providing me the benefits.
I need those benefits when I face the powerful monster; I am aware there are more powerful monsters than a wolf, and I have sensed a couple of them; against them, the stronger and purer my soul would be, the greater advantage I will have.
For nearly two hours, it was an uninterrupted flight before the monster had enough and attacked me; it had about the same strength as the wolf, but this one had wings and could fly; I had finished the fight within fifteen minutes, compared to one and half hour, I had needed to finish off the wolf.
This time, I had been much more prepared and knew the kind of abilities they have; though the bird revealed some different abilities, they had a similar essence, and with the data of the wolf, I was able to kill it in fifteen minutes, before continuing my journey.
Another hour pa.s.sed by, and I closed my eyes once again and tried to sense the residue of the signal but failed again like hundreds of times before.
Nero is able to sense it, and after some time, Ashlyn also sensed it through the trick to advance for me. I have been running experiments and trying different methods, but till now, I was not able to sense the residue, which is a little frustrating.
A day has pa.s.sed since I came to this ruin, and till now, I have fought against the seven monsters; aside from the first battle, all of them have been finished within twenty minutes, and three of them have even too less than ten minutes.
These monsters are powerful, but as long as you have pure and powerful souls, along with an a.r.s.enal of moves, you will be able to deal with them. Though, not all of them.
There have been two Monsters against which I had to ask Nero and Ashlyn for help; seeing their aura, I did not even try to fight them. I had directly summoned the s.h.i.+elds and asked them for help, like now where is Nero fighting a flying centipede, which I am no match off.
Nero does not look powerful, but he is and has a plethora of strange abilities. Though his soul is not invincible as Ashlyns, he fell into hallucinations but came out of them surprisingly quick.
"Nero, you had enough fun already. Finish it quickly," I said to him, to which he looked at me disappointedly, and his cute wolf shape collapsed and transformed into a cloud of colorful fog and enveloped the centipede before it could even take a step to escape.
In less than a minute, we are flying again with Nero sitting on my head, sporting sad expressions. "Once we reach our destination, I will let you fight to your heart"s content," I said with a sigh. "I want to fight a Grimm," said Nero, and hearing his tone, I don"t think he would budge.
Ever since that incident, I don"t him fight the Grimms; he hates Grimms even more than I do. Such hate is not good, and I couldn"t blame myself for that.
My emotions seemed to have imprinted that hate on him, which I don"t like. While Nero is bonded to me, I truly consider him a son and do not want my emotions to affect him. It is he who should discover what he hates and loves.
Thankfully aside from my hate about the Grimms, he does not get other things just as stronger. Still, I am thinking about giving him greater freedom, but it is a question that will take some time; this ruin is not the place where we should think about it.
"Fine, if there is a suitable Grimm, I will let you fight it," I said after a minute of thinking.
"How much longer, Nero?" I asked as I flew up in the sky; it had been two and half days since we had come to this ruin. We flew and fought for more than two days before deciding to take the rest; I have fought eighteen battles, which takes a toll, even when most finished within twenty minutes.
"Another two to three days, father," Nero replied as he flew beside me.
I have a power of a High-Grandmaster and fly at a very fast speed, but this ruin is so big that I had to fly constantly for five days to reach the destination, which I still couldn"t sense.
The travel would have been quicker if we had not been hara.s.sed by the monsters regularly, but that is nature. The monsters will attack if foreigners enter their world and pa.s.s through their territory.
Though one thing that is making me sad is that I wasn"t able to collect much of the resources here. This place is filled with them; if I had time, I would collect tons of them, but unfortunately, I did not. Though, I will definitely try when I am finished with the mission, as some of the resources here would be tremendously helpful to me and the project.
Chew Chew
A few hours pa.s.sed when suddenly Ashyn chirped; hearing what she said, my expression became serious, and I changed my direction.
Ashlyn had sensed the high-psychedelic zone ahead, which was very bad news. The further we stay away from that place, the better.
Lady Redhorn had appeared very close to the high psychedelic zone and entered there accidentally, where a powerful monster had attacked her and she was barely able to escape with her life and even then, had to spend a week distinguis.h.i.+ng between hallucinations and reality.
I moved far away from it as possible and began to circ.u.mvent it; taking a roundabout way wastes a lot of time, but I don"t really have a choice unless I want to face off against those powerful monsters, which I will have a hard to defend against, even with all the advancement I have made.
