The smell of rotting wood, and the deep musky scent of the ground after it finished raining… This is the edge of the Northern Wilderness. In my time in the city, I have heard my parents speak of it only once as a bedtime story, and even they have only dreamed of it. Anytime a commoner would come to these parts of the land they would be eaten alive by spiritual beasts or simply get caught in a trap.
Not only are the spiritual beasts more intelligent as they rise in their Tiers, but the smarter ones are also the ones who create very humanlike traps at the edge of the wilderness in order to capture prey without moving a hand.
They hide deep in the brush and are watching and waiting, or they are out deeper into the wilderness and will come to check it after a few days.
Every single thought of fear from the wilderness is gone. I am not the same person I used to be and can conquer this vast expanse!
Walking so each step will not cause any sound and using the hunter musk that I bought from the city before I came, these are the basics of any hunter; hiding your presence.
Even though it is only the entrance to the wilderness there could certainly be Tier 2s lurking around and I do not want to even think if I can run away from them or not.
The specific type of beast that the Sect Leader posted was a Green-back boar, as the name implies their back is nothing but green thick hair, some of the cultivators I heard in the city said it was so that the bigger things in the trees won"t be able to see them and it will camouflage itself into the gra.s.s.

As long as I am here on the ground, the second I spot it I can quickly dispatch it; they are only Tier 0 spiritual animals and are quite slow. The only thing I have to worry about is if it makes any noise as it perishes.
The last thing I want is to be hounded by a bunch of hungry beasts…
I looked for the signs that came with where a boar would usually roam around at; dug up dirt.
These guys would usually dig around in the dirt and root out any type of insects and consume them. They are born as normal boars and are not natural spiritual beasts. The insects they consume usually have concentrated mana in them from staying inside of the wilderness soil; which has a millennium of rotting carca.s.ses inside.
It took me about 5 hours carefully stepping around to find the appropriate place, there was none there at the moment so I would simply have to wait and find a place to hide while they come. If something else comes I won"t want to be seen!
Turning my head I saw a hollowed-out tree that had nearly fallen over, it seemed to be big enough… I raised my arm and lightly tore out a hole from the tree. It feels good to be so strong now!
I made the hole just big enough to be able to see from with a single eye, I jumped inside and watched with bated breath for my prey to come…
…
Sitting on their usual grey, metal laced bench a group of three girls sat while the hustle of disciples made their way around with various types of construction tools in their hands and potted manherbs.
Violet: "I think we have enough now, should we go try? I think we must have gathered enough manherbs to last the entire sect a year haha!"
Violet sat in the middle of the two familiar girls.
Sylna: "Hmph, they better be grateful that this G.o.ddess picked all of those weeds!"
Yves: "You can"t say that Sylna! Those manherbs will help us grow stronger!" she said innocently.
Joking around, they got up and soon after doing so they were approached by the husk of a man; the demon.
Ray: "Hey, I heard your one of the most talented here besides that Phorbes. Come and fight me in the arena if you have any honor!" The thing said in a nasally deep voice. His hulking figure taking up at least three times the s.p.a.ce as Yves.
Yves: "Okay! But not for free!"
Both of the sisters seemed worried for a second but quickly remembered something and let it go.
Violet: "You think you can just bully our little sister however you wish? You"re going to need to bet a serious amount of merit points in order to compensate!"
Sylna: "Ha! This big ogre actually wants to fight such a small girl, do you even have any character left? Pay up big guy or it won"t happen!"
The ogre had to move his thick neck downwards in order to see them, they looked like a little trio of scammers if Keleman were to see them.
Ray: "This warrior has reached Tier 1, and has no intention of bullying the small ones… If you really want me to bet some merits the most I will do is 200!"
Sylna"s iris nearly turned into a cash sign at the mention of 200 merits, this was quite a large sum; this big demon was rich!
Violet kept her usual calm demeanor and said "You must at least do 400 if you really bully my little sister and she gets hurt we will need to pay the costs for treating her afterward! What if her little teeth fall out. She is very young!"
A clamor of people seemed to have come around to look at what the ogre was doing, he attracted a lot of attention. As he looked around at the judging eyes, he quickly agreed. There was no way he would lose to a small girl like this.
The four made their way over to the central part of the outer ring. Yves gently climbed into the arena and nearly fell at the shockwave of a demon landing.
The guy had actually tried to show off by jumping directly into the arena!
Sylna started to grumble about him, but Yves"s head was clear. The look in her eyes seemed to resemble the stale ocean on a morning with no wind; extreme calmness.
In the arena, there was a small crystal inlaid in the middle of it to signal the start of a duel. When the crystal was imbued with wind-type element magic it would turn green and signal that start of the duel. It would end when one of the contestants was teleported out or they conceded.
The crystal turned a dark green color, and the ogre screamed out "Come and fight me mage, this warrior will kindly reciprocate!"
Even though the demon was quite large and scary looking, he actually had a decent set of manners; and actually seemed a bit harmless at times as many of the disciples had been learning. But, his martial prowess was nothing to scoff at.
His skin looked like a sheet of bronze plating as he moved his mountainous body over towards Yves, who currently had a strong stream of mana moving upwards from her arm.
The Martial Skill she was channeling was none other than a Tier 2 Martial Skill! If someone more skilled were here they would even notice she had a pa.s.sive type Martial skill to keep her mind calm!
After the demon was about to start charging at her, vines spurted from the ground that was covered in tiny red spikes!
Someone in the crowd shouted out "Tier 2 Rose Bind! She is actually Tier 2!"
At this, the crowd started to churn and look towards the demon who was now covered in the vines, surprisingly; his skin was nearly untouched but still had some holes poked into it due to the vines.
If this were the Tier 3 Rose Torture, he would be on the ground foaming out of his mouth due to the poison that would come with the small red spikes.
The ogre quickly tried to free himself, he broke a few vines and started to actually break free from a Tier 2 Martial Skill before a large piece of ice slammed into his midsection and he was immediately teleported out.
Right after Yves had cast her first Martial Skill, she immediately started to channel another without waiting to see if he would be finished. She had even used another Tier 2 Martial Skill to defeat him with a spinning dense piece of ice. If he wasn"t teleported out, not even his bronze skin could save him from being bore through!

-Snap!-
As my body awoke, I realized I fell asleep inside of the tree. I looked outwards and saw something that confirmed one of my greatest fears. This thing in front of me… This thing could kill me in a heartbeat!
From his tiny hole, an extremely large ape was lying down on the ground with its eyes closed. It had fire spurting out from the top of its head, and its skin was glistening with a crystal glimmer.
