Chapter 448: I Get Scared Too
“Nuan Nuan, I might not be able to get off the operating table alive tomorrow. Or I might not be able to see anymore. I get scared too!” Wen Moshen had a cold look on his face as he held Lin Nuan in a tight embrace. “One hug! I only want one hug from you!”
Lin Nuan’s waist felt like it was about to snap from Wen Moshen’s grip.
Such a Wen Moshen was too foreign to Lin Nuan.
In Lin Nuan’s heart, Wen Moshen had always been gentle and elegant, making everyone around him feel comfortable.
Lin Nuan had never seen such an aggressive and forceful Wen Moshen.
This hug was taken by force by Wen Moshen, but his heart didn’t get the satisfaction it wanted.
Her soft body was solidly in his embrace, struggling, slim and warm!
The faint yet pleasant scent of her body entered his senses—this was Lin Nuan’s signature scent…
He had hugged Lin Nuan in his dreams, had kissed her pa.s.sionately, had possessed her.
Even if it was only a dream, Wen Moshen felt a sense of satisfaction, which left him… wanting for more.
Now she was in his arms in reality, yet he didn’t feel satisfied.
With a different kind of emotion stirring in his heart now, Wen Moshen’s gaze deepened.
Once…
Even if it was only once!
Wen Moshen’s breath became heavier, the strength from his arms more forceful.
But Wen Moshen couldn’t bear to force Lin Nuan, to hurt Lin Nuan…
Especially when he was reminded of Iraq!
When he thought of the Lin Nuan in those photos, with her bloodied head, going around asking the medical staff if they had seen the person in the clean photo that she was holding with dirtied hands… Wen Moshen felt as if his heart was being shredded to pieces.
Even when his desire was burning to the maximum, Wen Moshen still held himself back from hurting Lin Nuan.
His eyes were moist, so reddened they were swollen…
“Nuan Nuan, I love you! I don’t wish to hurt you! If I am to die on the operating table tomorrow, what I want is only a hug from you, just… one hug! I beg of you! Just take it as pitying me! For the sake of our ties growing up together, please grant this wish of mine…”
Wen Moshen’s voice was choked up, and he had his eyes closed, his tone begging her.
Wen Moshen stomped his pride beneath his feet just for a hug.
Lin Nuan was mildly sweaty all over from struggling, breathing intensely. Upon hearing Wen Moshen’s plea, she stopped struggling.
Sensing Lin Nuan’s stiff body, Wen Moshen loosened his grip a little, eyelashes trembling with tears. “Thanks…”
Lin Nuan bit her lip and recalled the way Fu Huai’an tried to stop her from visiting Wen Moshen, suddenly overcome with guilt. She gritted her teeth and broke away from Wen Moshen’s embrace.
Wen Moshen hadn’t foreseen this. The softness and warmth suddenly leaving him, he opened his reddened eyes, his gaze full of disappointment.
Due to Lin Nuan using too great a force when struggling to get away from him, she stumbled back a little. There was a distant and quietly angry look in her eyes.
Lin Nuan’s chest was heaving up and down violently. Her light-colored jacket was stained with the juice from the forget-me-nots from Wen Moshen’s aggressive hug.
She lowered her head and took a glance. To hide her fury and awkwardness, she drew a tissue to attempt and wipe away the stain, but no matter how hard she rubbed at it, the stain refused to come off.
She held the tissue in her hand then raised her gaze at Wen Moshen, holding back the tremble in her voice as she said, “Brother Moshen, we grew up together. Since you’ll be lying on the operating table tomorrow, if you told me… you wanted a friends.h.i.+p hug, I would definitely concede! But to take me into your arms by force like that, you’ve made me feel violated and insulted.”
She was unwilling to link Wen Moshen’s hug to their past relations.h.i.+p. With Wen Moshen’s pending surgery tomorrow, Lin Nuan didn’t want to address the elephant in the room.
She recalled what happened at Tianfu Bay—despite the fact that Chu Xun had stripped naked in front of Fu Huai’an, he had rejected her without a moment’s hesitation, not even giving Chu Xun a chance to hug him. Lin Nuan felt a sudden surge of uneasiness.
She would always involuntarily think of Fu Huai’an, not out of fear, but because she cared about him.
“Sorry!” Wen Moshen’s throat throbbed slightly, Lin Nuan’s warmth and scent still lingering in his arms.
Wen Moshen’s entire body went rigid.
Lin Nuan tried her best to look like her normal self, bending over to pick up her bag that had fallen to the ground and slinging it over her shoulder.
She said, “Brother Moshen, I’ll come by with Huai’an when your surgery is over. I’ll get going first…”
“Lin Nuan!” Wen Moshen called out after her.
But Lin Nuan didn’t stop; she pulled open the door.
Wen Moshen’s mother was standing at the door.
Lin Nuan hadn’t forgotten their conversation on the phone previously, so her body tightened up.
Lin Nuan stepped out of the way for Wen Moshen’s mother to enter the room first…
But Wen Moshen’s mother didn’t move away, neither did she look like she was about to do so.
Lin Nuan’s expression was ghastly, but she still spoke graciously, “Auntie Wen, I’m sorry, I have matters to attend to at the station, so I have to go first. Could you please excuse me?”
Wen Moshen’s mother had heard all of the dialogue between Wen Moshen and Lin Nuan in the room. She continued blocking the exit and, with tears in her eyes, questioned Lin Nuan, “Are you truly so heartless? Moshen already begged you like that!”
“Mom! Don’t be like this, let Nuan Nuan leave…” Wen Moshen’s throat clearly sounded choked up.
Wen Moshen’s mother’s heart ached terribly at seeing Wen Moshen like this. She grabbed Lin Nuan’s wrist. “Lin Nuan, I’ve watched you grow up. You obviously like Moshen so much! Moshen likes you too now! Are you scared because you’re worried he might lose his eyesight? Don’t be scared, Nuan Nuan… So long as you get together with Moshen, his dad and I can hand the Wens to you two!”
Lin Nuan wanted to leave, but here Wen Moshen’s mother was, blocking her way from leaving. Her words were unavoidably unpleasant.
“Auntie Wen! I’m already married…” Lin Nuan’s brows furrowed, and she didn’t bother to sugarcoat her words. “Don’t you think what you’re suggesting lacks moral standards? If a sick person claims to like Uncle Wen, are you going to divorce him to let them be together?”
Where in the world do people force others to get divorced?
Her wrist was already hurting from Wen Moshen’s forceful grip earlier; now, with his mother’s firm hold, fingernails dug into her tender arms, and Lin Nuan felt so much pain that she inhaled sharply.
Lin Nuan continued, “I’ve made it clear to you previously. I love my husband and will not divorce him. I also won’t get together with Brother Moshen! To hear you speak like this… you’re making it impossible for Brother Moshen and I to be in contact anymore!”
“Still not done?”
Upon hearing the voice, Lin Nuan raised her head. In her vision was the leggy Fu Huai’an in a suit, footsteps halting right behind Wen Moshen’s mother. His dark gaze swept towards the slim arms held in a death grip by Wen Moshen’s mother. He had both hands in his pockets and a smile on his lips but not in his eyes.
“I’m done!”
Lin Nuan’s words had a double meaning to them, making Wen Moshen clench his fists unconsciously.
When Wen Moshen’s mother turned around to see who it was, Lin Nuan took the opportunity to yank herself away from her grip…
Wen Moshen’s mother’s slim and long fingernails scratched Lin Nuan’s fair skin, leaving behind a red mark.
Inside the ward, Wen Moshen was standing there in his hospital gown, looking at the suited Fu Huai’an with his jaw clenched.
