She was abducted the moment she went back to her room to retrieve her phone. There was still a lingering bitter taste in her nostrils and mouth, so she was probably drugged!
Now she suddenly woke up in a stranger’s room, on a bed that was foreign to her, with Li Muyang seated beside her…
Even the clothes on her had been removed and changed into a set of silk pajamas. This made Lin Nuan feel as if her blood had coagulated. A “weng” sound kept going off in her brain.
She didn’t know what Li Muyang did to her when she was unconscious!
Fu Huai’an had told her… when he wasn’t by her side, he wanted her to try her best not to come into direct conflict with Matt De Niro.
Lin Nuan held back the fear in her heart, her lips parting but no sound coming out. Her heart was beating furiously, and it rose up to her throat.
“I know you must be scared now and wish to know what exactly happened!” Li Muyang looked at the panicking and flushed Lin Nuan that now resembled a hurt little deer and hurriedly explained, “You were drugged and taken away from the hotel. My bodyguard Ah Zhan saw that and rescued you. At the time, my plane was about to take off, and furthermore, I didn’t take many men with me to Venice. Seeing as those people gave chase, I could only bring you onto the plane and to America. Because the flight plan was approved prior to this, I couldn’t make the plane turn back after taking off. I’ve already called your husband! He will be here shortly to fetch you…”
As he spoke, Li Muyang’s deep eyes were riveted on Lin Nuan, who looked as if she were facing an enemy. Concerned he might scare Lin Nuan, he smiled and expressed that he was going to s.h.i.+ft to the bedside table. Only then did he pull open the drawer under Lin Nuan’s watchful eyes…
Li Muyang retrieved a satellite phone from the bedside table, which he tossed beside Lin Nuan’s foot. “If you don’t believe me, you can call and ask your husband! Your husband is on a plane right now, having headed this way about three hours ago.”
Lin Nuan looked at the phone that was within reach, her palms slick with sweat. With much difficulty, she managed to swallow her saliva, and after adjusting her tone, she asked, “My… my clothes?”
She couldn’t hide the tremble in her voice despite her best efforts, so one could easily tell that she was panicking when she spoke.
The clothes you had on were dirty, so I asked the maid to help you change out of them! If you don’t believe me, I’ll get her to come in, and you can ask her yourself…” Li Muyang then shouted to someone outside the door, “Victoria…”
A blond female who was in proper attire and had her hair tied up into a bun came in. She appeared to be in her thirties. She crossed her hands on her stomach as she bowed to Li Muyang and Lin Nuan, then asked politely and graciously, “What can I do for you?”
Li Muyang’s eyes were on Lin Nuan, giving the impression that she was the only person left in the world. There was a visibly joyful smile on his lips as he said calmly, “Please explain to this lady about her clothes…”
“Apologies Miss, I helped you change out of your clothes without your consent. I only did so because you were injured, and your clothes were stained with blood when Ah Zhan carried you back here. Don’t worry, these pajamas are brand-new, and I’ve sent your clothes to the laundry, they’ll be sending them back shortly!”
Victoria smiled as she explained. She seemed to think that Lin Nuan’s concern was whether the clothes she now had on were brand-new or not.
Lin Nuan felt a little more relieved, though her wariness didn’t completely dissolve because of what Li Muyang and this woman called Victoria said. After nodding, she reached for the phone Li Muyang tossed her. Then, with shaking hands, she dialed Fu Huai’an’s number.
After several beeps, the call went through…
“Is my wife awake?”
Fu Huai’an’s mature and deep voice sounded over the phone, and upon hearing it, Lin Nuan’s tears nearly came flooding down.
“Huai’an!” Lin Nuan could barely speak because her throat was choked. She sounded so raspy that it made one’s heart break.
She held back the urge to cry and called Fu Huai’an’s name, then her swollen and painful throat could make no more sound.
“Xiao Nuan, everything’s okay…”
On the other end of the line, Fu Huai’an’s magnetic voice carried with it a comforting gentleness. “I’m on my way to pick you up. I’ll be there in 10 hours at the latest! I’ll have someone pick you up first. Once he’s there, you can feel rea.s.sured and leave with him. You’ve seen him—Gu Qingcheng.”
Gu Qingcheng happened to be in Canada, which was near America, so he’d be able to get there the fastest! Furthermore, Fu Huai’an didn’t feel a.s.sured letting someone else pick Lin Nuan up.
Lin Nuan nodded, then realized that she was on the phone, so Fu Huai’an wouldn’t be able to see that. She held back her emotions, unwilling to reveal her fear in front of an outsider. She then forced her voice not to tremble and said, “En, no hurry, I’m very safe now.”
“En, do you feel any discomfort in your body?”
“A little dizzy and tired!” Lin Nuan replied honestly. She managed to keep her voice from sounding choked, but she couldn’t stop her eyes from misting up.
Her slim frame was curled up at the head of the bed as she hugged both of her knees to her chest, appearing like an injured little animal that was full of fear in an unknown environment.
Lin Nuan and Fu Huai’an knew each other well, and her lying about being fine made Fu Huai’an all the more worried.
“Perhaps there’s still some of that drug left in your body. Don’t worry, it’s not going to cause any damage once your body metabolizes it.”
When Fu Huai’an said this, Lin Nuan subconsciously placed her hand over her stomach. Lin Nuan didn’t know if the little life they were antic.i.p.ating had arrived. If so, would this drug affect the little life in her tummy?
Fu Huai’an spoke simply, asking Lin Nuan to call him if something should happen before hanging up.
Watching Lin Nuan look up with her watery eyes after ending the call… Li Muyang revealed a friendly smile. However, Lin Nuan couldn’t tell what Li Muyang was thinking from those deep and unfathomable eyes of his.
“Sorry, and thank you for saving me!” Lin Nuan said to Li Muyang, her high-strung nerves eased ever so slightly. She hesitantly reached out to hand the satellite phone to Li Muyang.
Li Muyang looked at Lin Nuan’s feeble and trembling hands, and her bright and clear eyes that were glistening with tears.
Li Muyang smiled and took the phone, placing a hand at the head of the bed to support himself. His pale and large hand, which had visible veins, seemed to have accidentally brushed against Lin Nuan’s fingertips…
The man’s fingers were so cold and void of temperature that they seemed to have come right out of an ice cellar.
Lin Nuan immediately retracted her hand, clearly wary of Li Muyang.
Li Muyang didn’t mind, taking it as if Lin Nuan didn’t mean it. He said, “It’s no trouble! It’s just… sorry, I took too few men with me to Venice this time. After rescuing you, we were chased by those people, so I had no choice but to bring you back to America with me. Later, after some effort, I finally managed to contact your husband, so it took two days.”
“Two days?” Lin Nuan was astonished.
Li Muyang nodded. Concerned that Lin Nuan might feel scared, he smiled before saying, “You’ve been unconscious for two days!”
Lin Nuan felt her scalp turn numb. Unconscious for two days?
