Chapter 356: c
She had looked fine before she left the room, but now she was in a silent state. Obviously, she was not in a good mood, and Zhou Huaijin could tell the difference. So Zhou Huaijin dropped the conversation with Zheng Chenyi directly. Instead, he walked towards Gu Chaoyan and said, “We are done, let’s leave now.”
Gu Chaoyan subconsciously took a sip of the cooled tea, frowned slightly. She had a high standard towards tea, and she almost never drank cold tea. So she put down the teacup directly, then she nodded at Zhou Huaijin.
She greeted Zheng Chenyi slightly and was about to leave, when Zheng Chenyi, who was in bed, suddenly panicked at the sight of their retreating figures. “Lady Chaoyan!”
Gu Chaoyan subconsciously looked at Zheng Chenyi with a look of confusion. She had not expected that Zheng Chenyi would stop her, so for a moment, she had no idea what he was wondering.
Zheng Chenyi’s heart started to throb. A long while later, he let out a light cough and made himself look natural as he asked, “I was wondering when I will be able to get off the bed and whether I can practice some simple martial arts later?”
Oh, that was his question... Gu Chaoyan threw an attentive look at him.
It had not been a very safe injury, but he was recovering well. If he continued to recover in this way, he would be able to get out of bed. However, for security’s sake, Gu Chaoyan still said, “Probably in one month’s time. The Dean will check your pulse every day so just listen to him and everything will be fine.”
Zheng Chenyi felt disappointed. He was disappointed that she was not going to check up on him any more.
Although all she did every day was to feel his pulse, it was a very cherished period of time in his eyes.
Seeing that he had nothing more to say, Gu Chaoyan a.s.sumed that he already understood what she meant, so she left with Zhou Huaijin.
Zhou Huaijin shook his head as he looked at Zheng Chenyi, and then he said, “Take care.”
Zheng Chenyi felt totally absent-minded. He did not even notice that they were gone.
He had The Saint Divine Anecdotes in his hand. He had thought about returning this book to her these days and then sharing some thoughts with her. He spent a lot of time reading all of the stories and he even remembered what was inside, but it seemed that he got no chance.
When Mrs. Duke North walked in and saw the distressed-looking Zheng Chenyi, she looked very anxious. “Did your conversation with Lord Huai go well? We are not doing well, and now you are injured. You should have a nice conversation with him so he can help you! I have already made a mistake, but you have to talk with Lord Huai. Did he tell you when he is seeing you again?” Mrs. Duke North asked anxiously.
Zheng Chenyi frowned and suddenly started to fret.
Mom kept nagging about stuff by his ears these years, like whom he should suck up to and so on, but his father was Duke North! Why must he suck at anybody!
He put away the book and then closed his eyes.
His mother raised him and he simply could not argue with her! So that was the only way he could show rebellion.
Mrs. Duke North, however, did not care. Instead, she still continued. “It was my mistake to have talked with Chaoyan in this way”
