Chapter 494: Two Different Worlds
The next moment, they heard Tian Danyue’s voice.
“Sister, it’s full inside. There are only three cubicles, and I’m still here queuing up. What’s the rush?”
“… Ah? It’s full?”
“Yeah! Just wait for a while.”
“Are you sure about it?”
She was talking to another woman who wanted to enter the restroom.
Both Fang Yuanyuan and Huang He gave a quick look at each other. Then he pulled his hat down, entered a cubicle swiftly and bolted the door.
True enough, the young woman refused to listen to Tian Danyue.
She squeezed past Tian Danyue unhappily and directly entered the restroom.
When she saw Fang Yuanyuan who was standing beside the washbasin with visibly red eyes from crying, she was a little taken aback. Then she turned her head to look at Tian Danyue who had a slight smile on her face and seemed to have understood something.
_Hur! _She let out a laugh, shrugged her shoulders and went in an empty cubicle.
_Thud! _She locked the door.
Huang He got out of the cubicle immediately.
He looked at Fang Yuanyuan for a second and dashed out of the restroom in a flash. He couldn’t say anything to her.
Fang Yuanyuan looked at his back view. “Thank you!”
n.o.body responded to her.
Tian Danyue returned a glance at her with a smile.
…
“Happy now?”
They went back to their seats. Tian Danyue looked at Huang He who was eating some peanuts with a half-smile on her face.
“Thank you!” Huang He said the same thing as Fang Yuanyuan.
Tian Danyue was not too happy about this but still showed him a smile.
“Why are you thanking me? As long as you’re happy, I will be happy.”
Huang He leaned against his chair and stared blankly at the menu for a moment when he suddenly looked up. “Danyue.” He called her name and paused a while. “I’m a softhearted person. When I saw her crying her heart out… I’m really worried that… something might happen to her. I need to make it clear to her. This is what a man should do.”
Tian Danyue was sitting in an angled position on her chair when she looked at him with a captivating smile. She helped Huang He fill a bowl of soup. “I understand your thoughts, but the photos on your mobile phone, it’s best that you delete them.”
“You…” His eyes seemed a little gloomy. “You looked at my phone?”
“It was unintentional.” Tian Danyue now looked at him indifferently and suddenly changed the topic. “Do you know why An Ying called himself that now instead of his old nickname?”
Huang He remained silent.
“In the past, the Dark Clan was too ostentatious. That was why Cui Ming died a horrible death. An Ying learned from Cui Ming’s mistake and wanted to be just like his new nickname—he wanted to become a shadow, a shadow that lurks in the darkness. You can’t find him, yet he is everywhere.”
Huang He’s eyebrows crinkled for a moment but said nothing. Just then, the dishes were served, and he even put a piece of meat on Tian Danyue’s bowl.
“Let’s dig in.”
“Alright, you too…”
Tian Danyue’s voice suddenly became very gentle and sweet, different from how serious and solemn she was earlier. She also put some vegetables on Huang He’s bowl.
Huang He could tell that her behavior had suddenly changed. From the corners of his eyes, he happened to see Fang Yuanyuan, who walked past them.
Under the light, his face seemed a little grim.
After Fang Yuanyuan had gone back to her seat, he spoke in a cold tone. “Did you do that purposely?”
“If I don’t do that, that young girl won’t give up, right?”
Oh, women, just how sensitive were they?
Tian Danyue was very clear about how Huang He treated Fang Yuanyuan.
Well, being a smart woman, she would not confront Huang He about it.
Tian Danyue blew on her bowl of soup lightly. “If you don’t want to implicate her, you need to let her give up on you,” she intoned, “otherwise, she will get implicated eventually…” When she saw that Huang He did not say a word, she added, “The moment we took such a path, we couldn’t turn back anymore. In the first place, I’ve already told you that—you and her… are people from two different worlds.”
“…”
There was some distance between their tables.
From Huang He’s angle, he could not see Fang Yuanyuan.
However, the scene he saw earlier when she was at the restroom, her sadness, and her tear-streaked face was clearly imprinted in his head.
“Yeah, two different worlds.”
She was in a bright, beautiful world while he was in a dark and gloomy one.
Huang He lifted his head to look at Tian Danyue, who was showing a half-smile.
“Why didn’t anyone from the Dark Clan here yet? Call them and ask.”
“Okay.” Tian Danyue saw that he had calmed down and not as impetuous as before. By the time she took her mobile phone, it rang. Tian Danyue looked at Huang He, cleared her throat, and picked up the call. “h.e.l.lo…”
He was unsure what the other party had said.
Tian Danyue’s expression changed then let out a polite chuckle.
“Alright then, we’ll meet another day.”
Hanging up the call, she suddenly got up and moved to the window…
Their table was near the window. The restaurant was located on the third floor, and they could see the shopping mall’s main entrance.
At the entrance, there was a police car parked nearby. There were also many people crowded together in groups of two or three; she wondered what they were talking about…
Tian Danyue then sat back down indignantly. “It got canceled as there are police at the entrance.”
Huang He was not as peeved as Tian Danyue. Instead, he looked slowly toward the window…
“It’s alright. This might be a good thing actually…”
…
Fang Yuanyuan chatted with her contacts for a while before Xiang Wan appeared in the restaurant while panting away.
When both of them saw each other, they paused for a moment.
In such a cold winter day, Xiang Wan was perspiring all over. Fang Yuanyuan was supposed to be having a good dinner, but her eyes looked all swollen. It was a sign that told Xiang Wan she had been crying earlier.
“What happened to you?”
“What happened to you?”
Both of them said the same words to each other and laughed at the same time.
Fang Yuanyuan rubbed her nose. “I don’t want to talk about it,” she said with some embarra.s.sment, “I’m too unlucky. Some chili oil got into my eyes, and I was crying like crazy…”
Xiang Wan looked at her intently for a moment. She felt that something was off about Fang Yuanyuan, but since her head was currently preoccupied with the earlier ‘phone s.n.a.t.c.hing’ incident, she didn’t probe further and smiled at everyone apologetically. “My apologies for being late. My phone got s.n.a.t.c.hed when I arrived here… Someone helped me called the police. I have to wait for them to take my statement before I can come here.”
There were always many cases of phone theft and robbery.
Hundreds of cases could occur in just a day. There were even some people who didn’t even bother to report to the police.
This was because, generally, the possibility of getting the mobile phone back was too low. The police told Xiang Wan that they had logged it in their system, and all they could do now was to try to help her find it.
The word “try” almost suggested that it would be futile.
“D*rn, what kind of luck is that?”
Fang Yuanyuan cussed in a low tone and suddenly remembered her motive for calling Xiang Wan here.
“Everyone, this is Xiang Gongzi.”
With Fang Yuanyuan’s help, Xiang Wan got to know the film and television agent. The two other authors were familiar faces since she had met them before. Being in the same industry, they had similar topics to talk about. The agent asked Xiang Wan to send an outline of her novel “Murder The Dream Guy” to her. She would then draw up a proposal for her superior, and discuss, as well as provide feedback to Xiang Wan consequently.
The hope that they might make her novel into a film or drama eased some frustration in Xiang Wan for losing her mobile phone.
They chatted so much that, when their gathering ended, two hours had already pa.s.sed.
After sending off the film and television agent with two other authors, Xiang Wan heaved a sigh and asked something from Fang Yuanyuan.
“Lend me your phone for a while.”
Fang Yuanyuan took her mobile phone and unlocked it before pa.s.sing her the phone.
“Call a cab first, then make your call!”
