Museum Of Deadly Beasts

Chapter 481: The First Lecture Hall

Chapter 481: The First Lecture Hall

This was the second time Lin Jin stepped foot into Heavenly Spiral Academy, and he had come with a completely different ident.i.ty Previously, he had visited the inst.i.tution as a guest. Now, he had come in the capacity of a teacher.

With his official Rank 4 appraiser status, he was more than qualified to play the role of instructor here at Heavenly Spiral Academy.

It was quite the coincidence that the person tasked with receiving him was none other than the young teacher who previously oversaw Tan Lin and Jiang Fengfeng’s compet.i.tion at the Beast Appraisal Pavilion.

“Appraiser Lin, my name is w.a.n.g Xin. Feel free to seek me out should you need any a.s.sistance in the future.”

Lecturer w.a.n.g Xin was very friendly. Even though Lin Jin was younger than him, he did not show signs of rudeness nor contempt, and that surely had something to do with Lin Jin being a Rank 4 beast appraiser.

Aware that Lin Jin was new around here, w.a.n.g Xin ardently kept him company and showed him around the academy.

To Lin Jin, the one place that piqued his interest the most was the Beast Appraisal Pavilion.

That place contained up to tens of thousands of beast samples which translated into a treasure trove in Lin Jin’s eyes. If he could record them all into the museum, there was no doubt that new rewards would be triggered.

Thus, Lin Jin looked forward to visiting this place.

Lin Jin wasn’t all that keen on visiting the inst.i.tution’s other facilities.

However, he still learned what he should know. At one point, both w.a.n.g Xin and Lin Jin arrived at a s.p.a.cious hall.

“Appraiser Lin, this is Heavenly Spiral Academy’s First Lecture Hall. This place holds great historical value. In my opinion, if you are to start teaching lessons here, this is the perfect place for you. In fact, it has become a custom for our lecturers to hold their first lessons here.”

To host one’s first cla.s.s in the First Lecture Hall was an auspicious beginning and a good omen.

It was also a symbol of one’s ident.i.ty and status.

Lin Jin nodded.

He could understand such customs because formalities were expected to get off to a flying start. Even Lin Jin agreed that this was a magnificent place, filled with intricate carvings and other decorative details. He was. .h.i.t by its grandiosity the moment he stepped into the hall.

Admittedly, he did feel the urge to give a lecture here. It would surely be a great experience.

“I plan to give my first lecture here tomorrow!” Lin Jin announced.

On the way, w.a.n.g Xin started explaining the rules and procedures for conducting cla.s.ses with great clarity.

Besides having the authority to take in private students, teachers of the academy, especially Rank 4 appraiser lecturers, were required to host at least one public cla.s.s each month.

A public cla.s.s was open to everyone. It wasn’t just exclusive to private students; all other students of the inst.i.tution were allowed to partic.i.p.ate in and listen to the lecture.

In fact, Heavenly Spiral Academy had too many students that only a minority of them could learn privately under a Rank 4 appraiser. Most students relied on public cla.s.ses to help them through the learning process.

Of course, only Rank 3 a.s.sistant lecturers like w.a.n.g Xin would be giving the lectures most of the time. Still, Heavenly Spiral Academy was widely regarded as the sacred ground for beast appraisers on the United Continent precisely because they possessed Rank 4 lecturers.

Since Lin Jin was to teach here for three months, he would make sure to take his job seriously. It was also partly because of this that he announced his wish to start teaching tomorrow.

However, Lin Jin had never taught here before, so w.a.n.g Xin gladly told him, “The academy may have tons of rules, but most of them apply to only students. Lecturers aren’t bound by many guidelines. There’s a bulletin board in front of the lecture hall. You can take a look if any lecturers will be hosting a lecture tomorrow. If there are, you won’t be able to host your lecture. However, if the coast is clear, you just have to post your lecture session on the bulletin board. It’s simple, really.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Jin went over to take a look, and sure enough, there was a bulletin board showing the recent lecture schedules of this lecture hall.

There was a lecture by ‘Appraiser Han Xuan’ scheduled for this morning and it had already ended. There was an empty slot tomorrow.

It was easy to understand so Lin Jin got it immediately.

“This is quite simple!” Lin Jin commented.

“What a coincidence! No lecturer has taken the slot for tomorrow morning, so as I said, you can just post your lecture notice on it.”

And so, Lin Jin picked up the brush and paper that was prepared next to the board. He thought for a moment before writing down the topic for tomorrow’s lecture.

A lecture on improving beast appraisal skills.

Since Heavenly Spiral Academy accepted only official Rank 1 beast appraisers and above, and they had many Rank 2 students, Lin Jin figured the students must have already mastered the basics of beast appraising.

In other words, there was no need for him to start explaining from scratch.

What they required was guidance for further improvement, so Lin Jin offered to talk about that. Technically, that was much more meaningful to the students. It went without saying that Lin Jin had the know-how, so the content of his upcoming lecture was incredibly valuable.

Lin Jin was confident enough to say that.

Even if he couldn’t live up to the task, with the museum as his support, there was no fear that he would run out of things to say.

After writing it down, Lin Jin signed his name.

Standing beside him, w.a.n.g Xin’s eyes lit up. “Appraiser Lin, your handwriting is marvelous.”

The praise was sincere. Indeed, Lin Jin was a pretty skilled calligrapher himself, and he had developed a style of his own.

Lin Jin smiled silently upon hearing the praise.

“Will this be all?” Lin Jin asked.

w.a.n.g Xin nodded. “Yeah. Public lectures are held on a first-come first-served basis. Since you’ve taken up the slot, the other appraisers will steer clear and pick another time to host their lectures.”

Once this was done, Lin Jin couldn’t resist asking to see the Beast Appraisal Pavilion.

w.a.n.g Xin would never reject his request because he knew that Appraiser Lin was invited by Mr. Zhong to teach at the academy. Hence, he would fulfill Lin Jin’s requests, whatever they may be.

Again, Mr. Zhong wasn’t the type of person to have many requests, but whenever he did have one, it would signify the importance Mr. Zhong placed on the matter.

Mr. Zhong’s high regard for Lin Jin couldn’t have been any more obvious.

On the way to the Beast Appraisal Pavilion, Lin Jin ran into an acquaintance.

Li Xinqi.

She was chattering happily with a few other students, and when she saw Lin Jin, her eyes instantly lit up.

“Appraiser Lin, why are you here again?”

Lin Jin smiled at her. He remembered Li Xinqi well because she was the one who guided him around the academy yesterday when he got lost.

“I am now one of the academy’s lecturers, so why wouldn’t I be here?”

Lin Jin’s reply was so casual that Li Xinqi didn’t believe him at first.

This was Heavenly Spiral Academy so how could he become a lecturer so easily?

However, Li Xinqi immediately noticed w.a.n.g Xin who stood next to Lin Jin.

Right after realizing who it was, she hastily stepped forward to salute him. Her peers did the same thing, bowing at Lecturer w.a.n.g respectfully.

“Alright, I still have something to do. I’ll be hosting my first lecture at the First Lecture Hall tomorrow morning. You should come and listen. I think it’ll be helpful for you,” Lin Jin said to Li Xinqi before continuing his journey. w.a.n.g Xin never responded to the students’ salutes. He, however, nodded at Li Xinqi with a smile.

There was a reason why he chose to ignore the rest of the students. Li Xingqi was an acquaintance of Appraiser Lin.

If that wasn’t the case, he probably would never have even spared her a single glance.
