Museum Of Deadly Beasts

Chapter 613: The Might of One Slash

Chapter 613: The Might of One Slash

“Looks like Clear Wind has benefited too much from a.s.similating the Divine Blade Scroll,” Lin Jin mumbled to himself.

Still, it was also an indication of how strong the Divine Blade Scroll was. Before this, Lin Jin was blissfully ignorant of the secrets behind this immortal-grade sword skill. Even if he tried to learn it, he would only be able to digest parts of the scroll. He was so terrible at it that he couldn’t even possess a basic mastery over the art.

Only with Clear Wind could the skill be fully utilized.

Lin Jin beckoned and the streaming light glowed brightly before appearing in his hand in the form of a long sword. Lin Jin slid it back into its sheathe in a suave manner that reminded his opponents of an immortal swordsman from times of old.

Corpse Taoist’s attack didn’t work but the ants had already arrived. Patriarch Xue Pao’s blood barrier was also completely erected so the actual bloodshed would now begin.

“Curator, you will be reduced to ashes today!” Corpse Taoist was mad with rage. Despite the early defeat of his Zombie Dragon, he also felt fortunate. It became apparent that his plan to team up with Patriarch Xue Pao had been the right choice. Had he fought alone, he wouldn’t be able to defeat Curator. Back at Heavenly Spiral City, Curator hadn’t shown what he was capable of. Or rather, he hadn’t attacked at all.

So, despite his rage, Corpse Taoist still felt lucky.

Curator may be strong, but no matter how powerful he was, he couldn’t possibly win against the three of them besieging him, especially with Patriarch Xue Pao on their side.

Even if Patriarch Xue Pao had to fight while focusing on hiding the aura of the immortal corpse, his clones still possessed the strength of an immortal. What’s more, although the subterranean ant queen was by no means strong, she commanded an army of subterranean ants. Nothing could possibly withstand the force of thousands of these ants.

Hence, Curator would surely die today, no matter what.

Their surrounding was now shrouded in blood-red fog, which was what made this barrier unique. Lin Jin scanned the area discreetly and found that he could no longer recognize the cave’s shape. They seemed to be in another world.

Subterranean ants poured into the barrier, and by now, there were thousands of them. Just these persistent ant beasts alone would be a tough opponent to handle.

Patriarch Xue Pao and Corpse Taoist had come prepared after all. Looks like they had the resolve to kill Lin Jin today.

Admittedly, even if Lin Jin was an immortal, such a situation entailed great risks, regardless of how many magic treasures he possessed.

Still, he remained calm. He was not worried at all.

That was because Lin Jin still had a trump card.

Just then, they heard a piercing eagle’s cry that seemed to come from above. It drilled through the rocky mountain and this blood barrier so they could hear it loud and clear.

This eagle cry’s startled everyone and the ants were most affected. They crouched down onto the ground, trembling in fear.

“They’re finally here!”

Lin Jin looked up, smiled, and then pointed in the air. He activated the Cosmic Ink and a reverse spiral appeared. Seconds later, out came the image of a person.

It was Tiger Taoist.

Lin Jin already expected a gruesome battle when he came along with Patriarch Xue Pao so how could he not be prepared?

Not only had he dabbed a drop of Cosmic Ink onto Tiger Taoist’s body so he could teleport him over when needed, but he also brought Jin Chi along.

As Jin Chi was a genuine Rank 6 monster, his combat ability was something even Lin Jin couldn’t compare to. With the help of Jin Chi and Tiger Taoist, Lin Jin could handle Patriarch Xue Pao no matter what move he decided to pursue.

Now, it was time for the real battle.

“This place is too small for us to move freely. Let’s move.” Lin Jin wanted to break the blood barrier first or it would be troublesome later on.

His solution was simple. He opened up the door of the Visitation Hall to borrow the museum’s strength. After that, he got Clear Wind to slice through the area above them, breaking the blood barrier.

Besides the blood barrier, the rocky mountain above them was also split open. Following a loud rumble, sharp sword energy broke out of the ground.

Large boulders were sent flying into the air like grains of sand, and a wall of dust enveloped the surrounding area. Everything within a ten-mile radius around the explosion was engulfed by the dust. Thankfully, no humans were living nearby. Otherwise, a commotion this huge might have frightened them to death.

Although there weren’t humans, there were beasts around.

The moment the explosion shook the ground, all living creatures in the area scurried away for their lies.

Birds took to the sky and beasts ran away.

What had been a mountain was now reduced to a pile of rubble. It wouldn’t even be an exaggeration to say that the sky had fallen down on this area. The ground within a thousand-mile radius collapsed into itself, forming an unbelievably large crater.

Given the degree of damage, whether it was man-made was already out of the question.

Using his powers, Lin Jin brought himself and Tiger Taoist outside the crater to stand atop a large rock. A golden-winged roc circled above their heads. It was such a ma.s.sive creature that its wingspan was three hundred feet long. With each flap, it could easily sweep up a tornado and destroy a forest.

Stones and dust were flying everywhere. Even ma.s.sive trees with big thick trunks were uprooted.

Lin Jin knew full well that the slash was not the root cause of this damage. It only happened because the subterranean ants’ hill was destroyed.

Truth be told, Clear Wind’s attack was indeed frightening and also breathtaking.

Not only did it break the blood barrier, but it also sliced through endless layers of pure granite. Even immortals would probably find this feat hard to achieve.

Lin Jin looked down at Clear Wind hanging around his waist and shook his head.

The attack was gravely exhausting. In the next two to four hours, Lin Jin would not be able to unsheathe and deploy Clear Wind on the battlefield. The sword spirit was now fast asleep due to overexertion.

“That was a little too reckless.” Lin Jin muttered to himself.

Still, if given the chance, he would do it all over again. All else aside, this show of power had been worth it.

It was a good thing Lin Jin had enough tricks up his sleeve so he didn’t have to rely on Clear Wind alone. Moreover, he now had Tiger Taoist and Jin Chi on his side.

Meanwhile, Corpse Taoist, the ant queen, and Lord Xue’s clone jumped out of the rubble. They all appeared equally tattered.

The ant queen wailed loudly.

Her nest had been completely destroyed, and countless of her worker ants were buried underground. Imagine having your house flattened in the blink of an eye; the ant queen’s fury wasn’t all that surprising.

Of course, not all of the subterranean ants were killed by the attack. Less than a hundred ants survived the collapse of their nest. This quant.i.ty of ants no longer posed a threat so they could be ignored.

That was the result of a single slash from Clear Wind.

Hence, even if it meant that he would be out of commission for a few hours, it was worth it.

Lord Xue looked just as menacing.

They were winning the battle, but the tables turned way too quickly. Anyone would be just as frustrated if they were in their position.

However, no damage was done to Patriarch Xue Pao’s actual body since he was a Rank 7 monster. He was physically unscathed by the commotion, but it definitely hurt his pride. The humiliation was unbearable since the plan he so painstakingly devised was shattered so effortlessly.

To add insult to injury, Lin Jin’s sudden attack frightened Patriarch Xue Pao.
