Chapter 658: Returned
The story about Yan Shenjun’s forbidden love with his male monster disciple disgusted the guests. It was a brief interruption in the Visitation Hall, but it didn’t take long before everyone s.h.i.+fted their focus back to saving Lin Jin.
As he listened to them come up with a rescue plan, Lin Jin felt funny on the inside. It seemed like he couldn’t rely on either of them now.
Including the Mystery Dao Sect and Immortal Cloud Sect.
Although they were immortal sects located in the extraterritorial land, they didn’t know where Yan Shenjun was hiding. Lin Jin had no idea where he was either, so it wasn’t like he could give them any clues.
What’s more, all his guests, including Chen Xuankong and Qin Yunshang had placed their hope entirely on ‘Curator’.
They were hoping that Curator would rescue Lin Jin.
Could Lin Jin possibly tell them no?
With this, Lin Jin realized that for the time being, he could only continue relying on himself. Of course, Lin Jin could opt to stay in the Visitation Hall and never leave.
On second thought, even if he went back outside, Yan Shenjun might not do anything to him.
Yan Shenjun probably has yet to forget about Curator’s intimidation from the door incident. Lin Jin managed to uncover many secrets about him, like the fact that he was relying on Lin Jin to save the oriole and his lover. In either case, Lin Jin was the key to his operation.
It didn’t matter if he faked it, but Lin Jin had nothing to be afraid of.
After thinking it through, Lin Jin formulated a plan.
His adventure to the extraterritorial zone was bound to be filled with danger. He could not be terrified of risk while praying for everything to go smoothly at the same time – the world simply did not work that way.
The dominant forces were still the Mystery Dao and Immortal Cloud Sects. Lin Jin instructed Chen Xuankong and Qin Yunshang to inform their respective sects to keep up the search, to which they nodded obediently.
“Anyway, you won’t have to worry about Lin Jin for the time being. I’ve used a projection spell to warn Yan Shenjun of the consequences of hurting Lin Jin. When it comes to saving him, I may need you two to inform Miao Yan Zhenren and the others to do their best,” said Curator. In other words, he was trying to convey that he had warned Yan Shenjun, but due to the distance, he couldn’t hurry over in time. He could keep Lin Jin safe, but rescuing him would be difficult so he was relying on the Mystery Dao and Immortal Sect.
His explanation sounded pleasant, reasonable, and did not harm his prestige.
After saying what he needed to, Lin Jin saw no need to continue lingering in the Visitation Hall. He announced his departure to the guests before leaving through the door.
Instead of leaving the Visitation Hall completely, Lin Jin paced back and forth in the hallway.
He had to think of what to do next.
Although he was confident that Yan Shenjun wouldn’t do anything to him for the time being, there was no saying when his patience would run out.
What would Lin Jin do if that happened? He couldn’t well waste time at Yan Shenjun’s place, right? However, Lin Jin was curious as to what Yan Shenjun was working on.
He had tried asking Chen Xuankong and Qin Yunshang if they knew what a ‘Mantra of Heaven’ was.
Their answers disappointed him because neither immortal knew what it was. Thankfully, they said they would ask their sect leaders once they returned from the Visitation Hall.
Lin Jin wasn’t hopeful.
Even if Chen Xuankong or Qin Yunshang learned something, they would need to wait seven days before relaying the answer to him. Although a week was by no means long, many things could happen in that timeframe.
In the hallway, Lin Jin leaned against the wall to think.
Moments later, he made his decision. He took off his mask, tidied his s.h.i.+rt, and opened the door at the end of the hallway.
Something unique about the Visitation Hall was that Lin Jin would emerge from wherever he disappeared from.
When he stepped outside, he was back at the cave, where two immortal servants were busy tidying up the place. They were startled when Lin Jin appeared out of thin air.
“Who goes there?”
“It’s Mr. Lin!”
The immortal servants immediately hurried over to bow at the sight of Lin Jin.
Looks like Yan Shenjun hadn’t altered his previous order. Or rather, right after Lin Jin disappeared, he made sure that the servants adhered to them.
Here, Yan Shenjun was the supreme ruler, an emperor that held absolute authority. Meanwhile, Lin Jin was Yan Shenjun’s guest so even if the servants were tasked to supervise him, they still had to show him respect.
No immortal servant dared to defy Yan Shenjun’s orders.
Of the two servants, Lin Jin recognized one of them to be the fairy who helped him with pelletization, Xiang Yun.
She was bowing forward with her head low.
Due to her a.s.sistance in crafting the blazing pills, Lin Jin had a good impression of her. And after that minor incident earlier, Lin Jin had a different mindset now.
These immortal servants may be terrified of Yan Shenjun, but not all of them served him willingly. After Lin Jin had confirmed this with Chen Xuankong, an idea came to mind.
Poaching talents.
These servants must know quite a few of Yan Shenjun’s secrets after serving the man for so long. Even if they didn’t, just the fact that they had stronger cultivation levels and abilities was enough reason for Lin Jin to win them over.
For instance, Xiang Yun’s pelletization skills far exceeded Lin Jin’s. If he could win her over, she would be immensely helpful in facilitating Xiao Huo’s future evolution.
With the blazing pills in hand, Lin Jin only needed to obtain a nine sun quartz to promote Xiao Huo to Rank 6 now.
However, Rank 6 wasn’t the final goal. Lin Jin would continue promoting Xiao Huo up to Rank 7, 8, when they reach the peak of Rank 9, they would stand up against the immortal devouring beast.
Quite frankly, Lin Jin couldn’t possibly achieve that goal alone. Even if he had the Museum of Deadly Beasts, it was still a challenging feat.
Still, things would be so much easier with a pellitization expert on his side.
Lin Jin could hardly contain his excitement when he pondered the possibilities that laid before him.
Although Lin Jin had yet to think of a method to win them over, he knew that treating them with respect was a pre-requisite.
So Lin Jin bowed back before asking, “Where is Yan Shenjun?”
These two female immortals had been cleaning up the cave. Although it was tidied up now, Lin Jin could tell that a tragedy happened a short while ago.
Yan Shenjun must have unleashed his fury on a poor soul here.
This proved that Yan Shenjun could be angered. It was a good thing. Be it mortals or immortals, so long as they were throwing a tantrum, they would surely expose something.
Upon hearing Lin Jin’s question, the servants’ reply came swiftly, “Master Shenjun is meeting a friend outside. In case Mr. Lin returned, he told us to inform you to wait for a moment. Master Shenjun will be with you shortly.”
