In her subconscious mind, Mia saw herself sluggishly drowned in the water. The lethargic consumed her whole body allowed the anxiousness flowed through her body as she was suffocating in water. She tried to swim back to the surface but there was an invisible string pulling her left leg into the bottom of the sea. She desperately stroked both of her hands sideways to push her away from the gravity but her breath was running out. She didn"t have enough energy to save herself. She thought of giving up but her heart ached to stay alive. Against her desperation, both of her hands grew tired and slowly stopped moving.

As she let herself sinking away from the surface, she saw a chain of seaweeds not too far from her, forming an outline of a long and rectangular shape like a dressing mirror. In the centre of that form, there was a body of a small girl with her skin almost turned into an apparent blue. As she stared intensely at that girl, her weak heart jolted in shock to see a sudden movement by that girl revealing the light brown pupils as if that girl was staring back at her. Then, an ear-piercing sound vibrated around her and she could hear someone was singing. Could it be that girl"s voice?

"Rain... Rain.. Go away...

Come again another day...

Mia wants to play...

Rain... Rain.. Go away..."

"Who... Whooo... Are youuu...?" Didn"t know if her whisper could be heard as her voice was too low to fight against the high pitch sound but surprisingly that girl responded to her curiosity.

"Don"t you remember me, Mia? So sad if you"ve forgotten about me. You"ve promised that you will always remember me because I"m your only true friend."

"Huh?"

"Although our time together was so short, you told me that you that was the first time ever you felt so happy. Why did you forget your happiest moment?"

As much as she wanted to recall this face, nothing triggered.

"It was raining but you want to play outside. Hence we sang together, chasing away the dark clouds. But they beat us because we made too much noise. They couldn"t sleep if we continued singing. We then cried so hard because they repeatedly hit us with metal rode. We were just ten years old at that time. You"re lucky because someone saved you from them, leaving me all alone there. You said that you"ll be coming back to rescue me but I waited and waited... you never came back. They put a chain around my neck, afraid that I might escape just like you. If I resisted, they would drag around that small room using that chain...."

Imagining such a horror scene, Mia couldn"t stand hearing those stories.

"STOPPPPPPP!!!! PLEASEEE!!!!"

"STOPPPPP!!! ...."

Rain... Rain... Go away...

Come again another day...

Mia wants to play...

Rain... Rain... Go away...

Her head was throbbing like being poked by many sharp needles at the same time. Her head was hanging low, down near to her chest with both of her hands cupped her head. She pulled up her knees to her chest too. She looked like a lost child crying in one corner. The immense pain blocked her mind from functioning sanely. If she could chop her head off in order to make the pain go away, she was dared to do it if this suffering persisted.

"DOCTOR!! SHE"S HAVING AN ATTACK!"

A group of doctor and nurses swarmed the lying patient and rushed into action to save her.

"Quick, do the resurrection."

"Doctor, what happened to my daughter? Will she be alright?" Aunt Su brawled into tears seeing another episode of catastrophe fell on her dear bestie"s daughter. The nurses shooed her out of the ward to conduct the procedures. Aunt Su could only look from far through the small vertical rectangular transparent gla.s.s on the ward door.

Yesterday, she found Mia lying on the ground soaked in a pool of blood and immediately called the ambulance. Who knew that the searching mission could turn into a disaster. When they arrived at the empty orphanage, they both went into separate ways as to fasten the searching process. Aunt Su east side of the abandoned house while Mia searched the opposite area.

There was nothing much to see there other than the riverbank behind the house. Aunt Su walked further from the orphanage compound area to look for the nearest neighbours but after half an hour walking, she found nothing in the quiet forest. Because of the route she took was a bit damp, she was reluctant to go further so she walked back to the orphanage. She was worried when there was no response from Mia as she repeatedly called Mia"s name. Only her voice echoed alone with no answer. Her motherly instinct whispered uneasiness thoughts of the possible dangers that could happen to Mia hence she had no choice other than breaking into the house through one of the broken windows as that was the only place she hadn"t checked on.

Her heart broke into pieces when her eyes laid on the lifeless body on the ground of the hallway. That was MIA! Her hands trembled as hug Mia in her arms, trying to get a response from the pale Mia. Seeing that Mia had lost consciousness and the blood kept on flowing, she dialled the ambulance with the hope it wasn"t too late to save Mia.

"Lily, would you blame me on what had befallen on your daughter? I didn"t look after your daughter carefully though I"ve promised you. I"m sorry, Lily. I"ve failed."
