Chapter 2006: Ghost General

Outside the Bronze Sarcophagus, no one aside from Qingfeng Li had noticed the fingerprint on the casket’s surface. This was one of the special things about Qingfeng Li.
Huozhu Chi glared at Qingfeng Li, his eyes cold. He hadn’t expected his attack to be deflected by Qingfeng Li. Right now, he was filled with a fury he didn’t know what to do with.
Huozhu Chi knew now that Qingfeng Li’s combat power was no weaker than his own. Even if he forced a fight with Qingfeng Li, they would both sustain injuries. There was nothing for him to gain from that.
Qingfeng Li turned his head behind him to glare at Huozhu Chi, his eyes filled with frigid killing intent.
Before now, he had held back against Huozhu Chi because this was a planet of death with unknown dangers. This was why he didn’t rush to settle the score with him. He hadn’t expected Huozhu Chi to attack when his back was turned. He was really asking for it.
Qingfeng Li took a step forward, emitting an immense energy from all over his body. “If you want to fight, I’ll play along.” His voice was cold.
Moving his Sun Essence Flame toward his hand, Qingfeng Li created a ma.s.sive hand that covered the entire sky and slammed it down toward Huozhu Chi.
Huozhu Chi also swung his own fist, forming a Crimson Fire Fist that collided with Qingfeng Li’s hand.
However, an instant later, Qingfeng Li’s hand slammed straight through his Crimson Fire Fist, shattering it completely. At the same time, Huozhu Chi was forced back several steps, his face pale and blood dripping from his lips.
Right now, Qingfeng Li was peerless among those of the same level. Although Huozhu Chi was also at the Monarch Level Eighth Cla.s.s, he was no match for Qingfeng Li and could only be forced back.
Crimson Fire Monarch Sword!
Huozhu Chi roared as he withdrew the Crimson Fire Monarch Sword from his interspatial ring. This was the Crimson Fire Monarch’s own sword. When they were still outside, the Bronze Sarcophagus had blown a hole in it with a beam of green light. However, though damaged, it was still a ninth level spirit monarch realm Dharma treasure of immense power.
Huozhu Chi swung the Crimson Fire Monarch Sword in his hand, releasing a beam of red sword energy toward Qingfeng Li.
Completely unfazed, Qingfeng Li took out his Sky-Breaking Halberd and swung it forward. With its ten million pounds of force, he struck the red sword energy, shattering it with a loud “Crack!” The energy fell away in specks of light before completely disappearing.
Qingfeng Li’s Sky-Breaking Halberd had now also been raised to an extremely high level. This was especially true since he had learned the Fourth Stance. Its power was now even greater. Even the Crimson Fire Monarch Sword was no match for it.
Fury had been sparked in Qingfeng Li. His heart full of killing intent, he swung his Sky-Breaking Halberd again and again, forming wave after wave of arcs and vortices that flew toward Huozhu Chi.
Huozhu Chi was forced back again and again. Even the Crimson Fire Monarch Sword in his hand had begun to crack. It seemed like it might snap apart at any moment.
The more Huozhu Chi fought with Qingfeng Li, the more scared he became. His expression had changed, and his eyes were filled with terror. He was truly afraid now, terrified by Qingfeng Li’s extraordinary power.
Qingfeng Li and Huozhu Chi were locked in battle, the commotion shaking heaven and earth. Just then, Linglong Xue’s face paled. “Stop fighting, you two,” she cried. “More of the baleful spirits have appeared ahead!”
Hearing Linglong Xue’s warning, Qingfeng Li and Huozhu Chi stopped their battle. Turning, they looked ahead of them.
Just as Linglong Xue had said, before they there appeared four or five more of the baleful spirits. They seemed even more powerful than the one Huozhu Chi had killed earlier.
These baleful spirits were taller, their shape more defined and solid. The black light reflecting off of their long black nails were also darker. They walked steadily toward Qingfeng Li and the others, their hair loose around their shoulders and eyes glowing green.
They moved very quickly. In just a short while, they had arrived around Qingfeng Li’s group. A series of eerie sounds came from their mouths as they leapt upon them like they were some sort of delicacy.
Crimson Fire Flame!
Huozhu Chi huffed loudly as he activated his vital essence flames. A cloud of crimson nine-thousand-degree flames appeared and flew forward, falling upon the four or five baleful ghosts. In an instant, their bodies had been set ablaze and reduced to bits of black smoke before disappearing completely.
Just as Huozhu Chi was about to let out a sigh of relief, his expression changed. From behind him dashed out a dozen or so more of the baleful spirits, which had launched themselves toward him.
Qingfeng Li and Linglong Xue’s expressions both changed as well. They found that, behind each of them, there were also a dozen or so of the baleful spirits. Several dozen baleful spirits had launched an attack on the three of them.
Linglong Xue walked to Qingfeng Li’s side. “What’s going on?” she asked quietly. “Why are there more and more of the baleful spirits?”
Qingfeng Li frowned. “There’s no time,” he said. “The baleful spirits are here. Hurry and attack!”
Qingfeng Li abruptly swung his Saint Solar Palm, slamming the air in front of him. A ma.s.sive Sun Essence Flame formed and, as the palm fell, the dozen or so baleful spirits were all destroyed.
At the extreme temperature of eleven thousand degrees, the Sun Essence Flames were not something these ghostly things could hope to match. Besides, these things were afraid of fire.
After Qingfeng Li killed another dozen or so of the baleful spirits, he spoke to Linglong Xue, “This place is dangerous, we have to leave, quickly!”
With that, the two picked a direction and ran. It was toward the south.
An icy glint flashed across Huozhu Chi’s eyes. He thought for a second before das.h.i.+ng ahead, following Qingfeng Li and Linglong Xue.
Although Huozhu Chi and Qingfeng Li were enemies and wanted each other dead, in this planet of death full of unknown dangers, their only option was to work together for the time being. Only then could they hope to deal with these baleful spirits.
The three moved quickly. In a flash, they were several thousand meters away. Along the way, they didn’t encounter any more of the baleful spirits. However, waves of deathly energy still flowed through the air.
Suddenly, Qingfeng Li stopped. He looked ahead with an expression of awe and shock. Ahead, he saw countless baleful spirits.
There were over a thousand of them, standing in a dense pack much like an army. These baleful spirits were stronger than the ones they had just slain and were dressed in black armor, carrying spears.
Of course, the armor and spears were not actual objects, but also formed from the immaterial baleful energy.
Suddenly, they saw that, in front of this baleful spirit army, there stood a giant baleful spirit. He stood at over two meters tall, wearing black armor and carrying a spear over two meters long. He stood there, menacing and radiating killing intent.
This tall baleful spirit was the general of all of these baleful spirits, the Ghost General. Standing in the lead, he glared at Qingfeng Li and the others with eyes filled with murderous intent.
