Comming to his senses in the familiar hospital envirnonment that filled his nasal cavity with the sharp smell of antiseptic polluted air and hearing the all too familiar sound of the ventilators Harrison just bitterly sighed in his head. "Back to the land of boredom," he thought.
"There is no point in do anymore math. I read all the books. Meditation is not working either. Aaaaaaargh."
"There must be something I can do here..." he tryed to cheer himself up while the medical machines whirred around him.
"Inventory!"
As the boxes showed up in front of him he looked through them. Weapons and armours were the first category.
"Should I materialize a sword on the hospital bed? That would give them a shock of surprise."
He dismissed the idea as it would raise too many questions.
Finally, his gaze fell on the medicine potions. He still had quite some left after the s.h.i.tstorm incidents. Looking at them he started contemplating on how he could move the contents from the bottles into his body without using his hands and he came to a possible scenario. There was nothing left for him but to try it out.
"System."
He waited but there was no answer.
"System can you separate the container from the fluid?"
Still no answer.
"System separate one "Low quality healing potion" into bottle and fluid"!!!, he yelled in his head in frustration.
Suddnely two additional s.p.a.ces were filled. In one was now an empty bottle and in the other one was a greenish orb floating suspended in mid-air. He checked them.
Item name: Low quality healing potion bottleQuality: LowSpecial effects: none Description: Can contain fluids."Well that was nothing unexpected."
Item name: Low quality healing potion fluidQuality: LowSpecial effects: Reduces pain and swelling. Side effects from the residual components include flatulance and diarhea. Description: Low quality medicine potion with high amount of residue.
"OK. It"s still the same stuff." "System can you show me my body?"
After waiting for a bit with no result he tried again with an order instead of a question.
"Show me my body!!!"
In front of him suddenly appeared a virtual pale human with everything that was around ten centimeters of his vicinity. He looked at himself and he saw a ventilator tube going down his throat but only saw the parts that were close enough. The pillow and blanket were also on him. He could see his head wrapped up in bandages which covered almost his whole head but were mostly on his left side.
"So you only respond to orders not questions.", was his initial reaction after he recovered from the initial astonishment that it was possible.
"Remove the bed and blankets from the view!"
He could now see the bedsheet beneath him, a diaper underneath him and bandages on his body with b.l.o.o.d.y drainage tobes going from them and an IV channel running into his left arm. He also had a catheter inserted into his urethra which made him shuddder.
Harrison was reluctant at first but he wanted to know how bad it was.
"Remove the bandages from the view."
As they were removed he could see a b.l.o.o.d.y wound on his head with b.l.o.o.d.y drainage tubes and also that about 5 cm of his skull was missing and was just covered with a bald flap of skin. His hair was cleanly shaven off. His face was swollen so to that degree that he would not be able to recongnise himself even if he remembered how he looked like. His body looked like patchwork of sutures on several parts of his torso which were concentrated on the left side of his body.
He imagined he was strafed by the bullets on the left side going from his stomach up to his head. Harrison counted four bullet wounds on his torso.
"Remove the bedsheet and turn my body around", he ordered.
He could see there were three exit wounds in the back.
The whole out of body experience made him deeply perturbed but also filled with curiosity. He wanted what else the system coud do.
"Remove my skin from the view."
A flesh covered humanoid appeared with white tendons showing and obvious deformities where the bullets. .h.i.t him. By now he looked more like an alien than a human even though he was aware that he was looking at himself he felt detached.
"Remove the muscles and tendons from the view!"
He saw his rib cage and skull without the muscles attached now.
"Remove my bones from the view"
Now he could see his heart beating in his chest and his lungs expanding and contracting as the ventilator went trough a cycle. His lungs were damaged on the left side and part of it was cut off and sutured together. He could not tell what happened to his intestines but some parts showed signs of sutures.
"Show me just the skeleton."
The pinkish skeleton except for the skull, left side of his ribs and clavicle was mostly intact.
"Return to the previous view."
He was back looking at his organs which were like colors of the rainbow covered with a red overlay.
"The big brown thing on the right must be the liver and redish one on the left is the spleen. I was lucky the bullet perforated just my stomach and lungs and not these two organs or I would be a goner." He thought as he observed where the sutures were.
Contemplating if he should really try doing what he had in mind he paused a bit.
"It could kill me. But if I don"t try doing it I might as well be dead.", he came to a conclusion after a few minutes.
"I am sincerely sorry nurse Finkle, or whoever is on duty, for what I am about to do next but I have no choice."
"Transfer the liquid from my inventory directly to my stomach."
As the liquid disappeared from his inventory he saw his stomach bloating and soon his heart started to pound at a faster frequency. After a minute the frequency was still increasing and the monitoring station turned on the alarm which started blarring.
Soon he could hear rushed footsteps and the whooshing of the door.
"What is going on with you?"
He heard a male voice say before the the footsteps stopped near him. The other footsteps soon followed.
"Status.", another male voice said.
"His heart rate and BP are both unusually high.", the same voice from the person who came in first replied.
"Shall I prepare a sedative?", nurse Finkle said.
"Yes. But no more lorazepame give him diazepam 5mg.", a male voice ordered.
Harrison was observing his body in the meantime and as he heard them he got ready for action.
"Transfer fluid coming from the IV into the inventory!", he ordered to the system.
Soon a small orb of liquid was floating in an inventory box.
"There is no response. BP rising steadily.", a male voice said.
"Up the dosage! And check his sutures and drainage tubes.", a male voice who by now Harrison presumed was a doctor ordered.
"Transfer fluid coming from the IV into the inventory!", he once again ordered to the system.
"There is still no response BP rising. The sutures look ok. Drainage normal.", a male voice said after a while.
"Hmm. Let me see. Up the dosage again!", the doctor was not willing to give up but neither was Harrison as he once again stole the diazepam from the IV.
"We could calm him down with lorazepam easily before.", nurse Finkle interjected as they rebandaged him as there was still no response and his blood pressure was still rising.
"Give him one more dose of diazepam and if there is still no reaction give him lorazepam.", the doctor said dejectedly.
Harrison stole the diazepam and two more doses of lorazepam before he decided to give them a rest as he was worried next time they might start with a high dosage and possibly kill him with an overdose if he overdoes it.
"Now I have six get out of jail free cards!!!", he thought in joy as his mind slowly went blank.
Before his mond wnet into oblivion he heard some noises he would rather not hear again.
"Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtft. Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrft. Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr plyup blup."
"Ah G.o.d d.a.m.n it. What is that stench?", a male voice said although he knew the answer.
"He soiled himself obviously. BP is falling thank G.o.d.", nurse Finkle said while trying to hold her laughter.
"OK. Good work people. Call me if there is anything else!.", the doctor said as he rushed out of there while holding his breath.
"Look at him run.", the male voice said after the whooshing sound of the door closing was heard.
"It"s not like that is something you see for the first time.", nurse Finkle said while laughing and removing a diaper underneath Harrison who was still making farting noises while slowly losing consciousness.
"How can you be in a good mood cleaning s.h.i.t of a patient.", asked the male voice.
"I prefer this to cleaning a dead body and I like to see you miserable.", she replied.
