When they got off the plane, Miya was in a better mood, but still solemn. Her mind was full of thoughts of revenge, for she had still not forgiven the young master. And well, she couldn"t really be blamed. How dare the man act so inappropriately with her?!
Really, no matter how she looked at the situation, one idea had now fixated in her head. This man had been flirting with her all along! The "it"s a practice for the public" was just a stupid lie. He had dubious intent since the very beginning, it seemed.
The question was, why?
He was d.a.m.ned stupid, was why!
No matter how Miya tried to approach the situation, she couldn"t wrap her head around the simple possibility that the young master might have a thing for her. He wasn"t blind, and she was violent and not pretty. There was no reason to like her!
It had to be something else.
Hm… there was another constant thought that she kept on having… this Jimmy Hunter could actually be a pervert. And she had fuelled the perversion in him by kissing him last night. Maybe that was why he came onto her like that! That was the only reasoning that she could understand. It was weird though. She didn"t think one of her kisses held that kind of… well, effect. Or power, for that matter.
But that had to be it. Or was it simply to coerce her to fly to this place?
Her face darkened by the second, and she swore under her breath.
She couldn"t derive a definite answer. But one thing was for sure.
She was never going to trust the internet ever again!
It had said the man was reserved. Reserved, her a.s.s! This man was actually a flirting monster!
The anger in Miya reached all the way from her heart to her feet. She wanted revenge! Tonight, she was going to wrap him in a rug and beat him up! Then she"d see how he kisses her again!
Granted, she was guilty of the offence too. But she had done it because she was emotional… hormonal, actually. And she had done it once! This man had done it countless times, starting from the day she signed that d.a.m.ned contract, and –
Jimmy looked towards Miya and sighed. He had succeeded in getting two words out of her, during the photo session, and therefore did not look happy at all. Once when he had been chatting with Ben, she had told him to "Shut up," and said it very coldly. The other time, he had asked her if she liked the picture. She had then grunted at him.
Looked like the missus really was p.i.s.sed off right now.
And looking at her darkened expression and rapidly murmuring mouth, he was pretty sure she was planning revenge. That scared him somewhat.
But then again, if he thought about it carefully, it wasn"t too big of a problem. He could get her a Hayabusa here, and she"d be all cute again.
And maybe he"d even earn another kiss.
The thought made him smile. Just then, his phone rang.
Slightly annoyed at the intrusion, Jimmy took it out from his pocket, and put it to his ear.
"Jimmy Hunter," he barked.
The conversation lasted barely a minute, before Jim made a few more calls, and then turned around hurriedly. Miya and Ben were looking around at the bustle outside the airport. He walked to Miya, and then said in a grave tone:
"Something came up, my dear. I"ll have the driver send you and Ben to the hotel. If there"s anything, call me. It might take me a few days. I"ll be up at the office. Is that okay?"
Miya"s eyes immediately shot up at the "my dear". It was like adding a tonne of fuel to a lot of fire. But then, she remembered they were in public, so she didn"t hold it against him. However, she was somewhat surprised.
Basically, he was just going off to work.
Why was he asking her permission for it?
Ah, heck. He must be being polite.
So, she nodded calmly. Jim then took out a Black Luxury Mastercard and placed it in her hand.
"Go crazy," he told her with a smile, "Country S has a lot of gorgeous stores for the ladies. And kids, of course."
But before Miya could retort, Jim was on the phone again. While still on his call though, he gave Ben a cheeky grin and waved at her, silently mouthing a "Bye-Bye." Then he walked off in the opposite direction.
The image, somehow struck Miya.
What the…
She looked at his retreating figure, his broad back and slim waist, and was somewhat lost.
Right then, Jimmy Hunter had resembled someone she knew from a long time ago.
Almost immediately, an unsettling feeling rumbled through her stomach, and she kept on looking in the direction where Jim had waved her a goodbye. He was long gone by now, but she couldn"t get the image out of her head.
Was it –
"Madame Miya!" a loud voice called behind her. Miya almost jumped out of her skin.
Turning around, she saw a small man, almost her own height stand up to her and greet her politely. He was the driver, calling her out to the car.
Miya was still dazed.
In that instant, why had Mr. Hunter looked so familiar? It had almost made her think of that situation from long ago, when –
"Madame," the driver in the front seat called, adjusting the mirror so that Ben"s little face was reflected on it, "Was your ride pleasant?"
Miya practically made a face.
"It was alright," she said though, for courtesy"s sake. Her eyebrows twitched a little on being called "Madame", but she swallowed that too, albeit bitterly.
"I was told Mr. Hunter won"t accompany us. It"s a pity."
Miya could hear the undertone of insincerity in the chauffer"s voice, and it made her smile. There was always one employee at least who wasn"t too happy about his employer. She wondered what Mr. Hunter had done to this guy.
"May I ask you your name, sir?" she said graciously.
The driver beamed.
"It"s David, Madame."
She smiled back.
David made sure the ride was comfortable, he talked so warmly and so much. He even mentioned the name of the hotel – which was exactly when Miya freaked out. The hotel was a six star, named Golden Compa.s.s. Miya immediately remembered Jimmy"s apartment and the one night when he had made her a drunk call. She had been so scared in that place! It was too big! There was no way she could enter into a six star all on her own. Not without a bigshot like Jimmy Hunter who would hide her behind his back!
As panic struck her, she snuggled closer to Ben, who was seated comfortably on her lap. No, she couldn"t go to a six star. She didn"t have the guts! It was then that her baby came to her rescue.
"Mommy," he said softly, "There"s a public library in Country S. Can we go see it first?"
A library?
Yes!
Miya"s heart leaped in joy, as she picked up Ben and gave him a hundred kisses.
"Yes, baby, yes," she said between smooches, "Aren"t you my little miracle!"
David was slightly disoriented by the mother and son, and the question was written all over his face: Who were these people, who were so excited about that rotting public library? And why in the world were they being accompanied by the young master himself?
Nevertheless, he beamed at them and drove to the place.
Miya breathed a sigh of relief, and was ready to cry out in joy.
It had been quite some time since she had got her hands on good books.
She would finally go, get some!
