My Perfect Lady

Chapter 68

Miya"s eyes were dark, her expression filthy. She snarled when she spoke again.

"I don"t want to hurt you Mr. Hunter. Move!"

Jimmy tightened his hold on her hand.

"Listen to me, Miya –"

"You don"t know what he was f***ing going to do!"

Her bellow was loud enough to split his ears. Jimmy"s expression froze. His own eyes turned cold, and he pulled Miya back with full force.

The girl was much smaller than him, so she staggered back, along with the chair that she had been using as a weapon. She was taken by surprise, though, when she saw the young master hit the man in the crotch himself. The already bleeding and crouching man almost fell to the floor, face down. Jimmy then put one foot under the b.a.s.t.a.r.d"s torso, and with the force of just one leg, threw the gigantic man away from them as if he were trash.

The man pa.s.sed out.

Miya blinked in surprise.

Strangely, she had failed to notice, but another man stood behind Jimmy, and when the young master threw away the villainous man, he fell to the feet of this other person. When Jim spoke, his voice was dark.

"Dispose him, Chenric," he said.

The other man slowly nodded, clearly afraid of Jim. He must be the person that Jim had sent over to guard the library.

Miya, though still disoriented, now had regained some of her cool. When she finally realized that Jimmy Hunter had acted on her behalf, and had nearly stopped her from killing the guy, she let go of the chair. Then she looked at Becky, who was lying on the floor.

Miya ran to the woman.

Rebecca lay to the floor, breathing hard. Panic was written all over her face, and deep red marks appeared on her skin from where the man had clutched at her throat. Her blouse"s sleeve had been ripped off, and she had a swollen lip. Her eyes were still dazed.

Miya"s heart clenched, and she helped the woman up.

She then helped Becky sit on a chair, as she breathed hard.

Jimmy surprised Miya once more, as he nudged her in the elbow and handed over a bottle of water. Miya nodded thankfully.

Becky shivered as she took the bottle in her hand, and Miya had to support her when she drank the water. Most of it spilled on her blouse, but when she had taken a few sips, her breathing returned to normal. Miya continuously patted her back.

When Becky seemed like she had returned to normal, Miya silently sat before her.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

Rebecca nodded weakly.

In that moment, Miya wanted to kill something. The woman before her looked worn out and defeated, and sudden anger surged within Miya. She clutched at the hem of her d.a.m.ned dress.

"Who was he?" She tried to keep her voice calm, but her tone had an edge that could cut through the sharpest of blades.

Rebecca didn"t match Miya"s eyes. In fact, she didn"t even dare to speak when Miya waited for a response. Jimmy stood leaning against the door, watching them both with a hawk eye.

"Becky." Miya"s tone was firm.

Rebecca shrugged, and then stood up. She staggered when she took a step forward, but she went around Miya"s chair and towards the direction of the door. Miya"s anger tripled.

She caught Becky by her hand. Her voice was a quiet hiss.

"Who was he?"

Becky tried to jerk away her junior"s hand, but it was as if her own hand had zero strength. It didn"t escape Miya"s notice. Her sis Rebecca had obviously weakened over the years. When she couldn"t get out of Miya"s hold, she turned around furiously.

"Leave!" she said, her voice choked. Miya"s own eyes were as black as coal.

"Who was he?" she repeated.

It was at that moment that Becky collapsed to the floor. She shivered hysterically, and then began to cry.

Miya made it a general rule to always be kind to girls. She would go out of her way any day, to protect and pamper a girl. But Rebecca was different. When she collapsed before Miya, something dark flinched in the younger girl"s eyes. She saw her own weak self, her own past, as she watched Becky lying on the floor, whimpering like a pathetic mess. Her entire history with Becky too flashed before her eyes.

No, Rebecca. She wouldn"t have that sh*t.

Jim, who watched Miya with a mixture of emotions, didn"t even have the time to gasp. Miya held Rebecca by the arm and forcefully dragged her up from the floor. Then pinning her to one of the many cupboards, she held Becky"s collar with one hand, her other still grabbing the woman"s arm.

Rebecca was alarmed.

Miya"s head only came up to Becky"s chest, but in that moment, the girl"s entire aura had changed. She looked dangerous, lethal even, like a weapon out to kill.

"Who was he?" she hissed again.

Rebecca gulped. Her words came out in small gasps.

"H-He"s… We… We"ve been d-dating for t-two months."

Miya"s grip at the collar loosened slightly as her entire being froze. And then, hatred filled every inch of her body. She didn"t know what pa.s.sed, but before she herself knew it, she had landed a blow on Rebecca"s face.

Jimmy jumped up in alarm.

What was Miya doing?!

Miya, however, didn"t stop. As Becky coughed up blood, Miya held her collar with both hands and dragged her away from the cupboard. Then kicking a table that was in the way, she landed a hit in Rebecca"s stomach with her knee. The breath almost knocked out of Becky.

Jim didn"t know how to react. But he did know he needed to stop his wife. And so, he yelled out loud, panic evident in his voice, "Let her be, Miya! She"s already injured!"

Miya ignored him completely.

Becky gasped for air, buckled over Miya"s risen knee. Miya straightened her up, never letting go of her collar, and then asked sinisterly,

"Why?"

Becky just stared at her in astonishment, and the repulsion in Miya soared. She held her by the throat for a second, and then let her go with extreme force. Rebecca fell to the floor. It was then that Miya hissed, her voice venomous.

"You were f***ing useless, Becky, we both were. But at least I respected you back then."

Something flinched in Becky"s eyes. Miya turned around to leave.

Only, she couldn"t.

A long leg almost tripped her over, but before she could hit the floor, Miya supported herself on her elbows. She then flipped around, and watched as Rebecca stood up on shaking legs. Her eyes, however, had changed.

They held the same wild danger that Miya had read in her eyes the day before, when she had been talking about Adrian and the family.

Rebecca spat.

Her entire demeanour was different, and as Miya lay on the floor, supported only by her elbows, she didn"t notice, when Becky began to launch a punch in the direction of her face. Miya dodged cleverly, and then realized too late, that it had been a distraction.

Rebecca never even touched Miya"s face, she stopped her hand inches before her nose. But in the midst of it, she did get hold of the girl"s dress with her other arm. Her movement had been fast enough for Miya to have missed it. She then pulled Miya close, her hand clutching the neck of her dress.

Rebecca was panting, and she looked weak. But her eyes were somehow delighted. They had an unnatural gleam, that Miya was all too familiar with. When she spoke, Becky"s voice was deep, mocking.

"Getting a little c.o.c.ky, there, huh junior? Thinking you can beat me?"

Miya smirked, feeling heated as well. She held Becky"s wrist from where she was grabbing at her dress. Her own voice was thrilled.

"Then hit me sister," she said, her hand clenching around that wrist, "Just one more time."

The battle was on.
