My Queen Of Terra

Chapter 32

Her eyebrows furrowed as she rocked her head in jerky movements. Her lips were partly opened, but they were not uttering anything. She was sweating profusely and her chest rose and fell in rapid repet.i.tion.

"Zoe!" Erin shouted as she rattled her so she could regain her consciousness. They were already at the hotel when the taxicab driver first woke her up as she also took a nap. However, Zoe is harder to bring around.

She had never seen Zoe like this before. Whenever they had a sleepover, she was always snoozing peacefully. She even envies her as she sleeps like a log. "Zoe!!" She screamed louder, hoping she could revive her sleeping beauty.

Zoe jumped up in response to her friend"s call. She peeked around and saw a hotel building tucked away in a crescent-shaped anchorage with a low-rise reception area that almost vanished in a miniature jungle of exotic shrubs and flowers.

She closed her eyes and opened it again, still dazed at where she is exactly. Erin helped her out and a.s.sisted her to stand and get her baggage out of the taxi. She then paid the driver and as soon as she closed the door, she glanced back at her stupefied friend.

"Had a nightmare?" She tried to put the screws back on her head as she rubbed her back.

What could have made her be this way?

Meanwhile, Zoe drew in a sharp, vigorous gasp as she ma.s.saged her temples. She couldn"t say that it was a nightmare since it did not spook and frightened her like what she used to feel whenever she had one. It was even a pleasant dream, except for the last part before Erin knocked her up.

Or was it really a head trip or a flashback from the past? Are the antidepressants that she"s been taking not working anymore? Or is it because that man is a trigger to her lost memories?

"I don"t know," she muttered as she struggled to recollect her thought. She recalled the angel"s ethereal face. Her eyes constricted as she worked out to remember all its details. "He kind of looked like Red," she whispered under her breath.

"Who?" Erin eavesdropped as she picked up her trolley so she could tug it towards their hotel.

Zoe shook her head. She must be imagining things. He must be an excellent necromancer for even invading her dream world!

She grabbed the handle from Erin and pulled it for her. "Let me do that." Her friend had experienced too much in one night.

"How sweet. Thank you. You"re too kind," Erin stretched her arms and twisted her torso.

She put her arms around Zoe as they walked to the entrance. "So tell me more about Red," she insisted with wide eyes. She was more energized and upbeat with her quick beauty rest.

"What"s to tell?" Zoe rolled her eyes. Even she doesn"t know much about him. She has no knowledge of his actual name, where he lived, and even what he does for a living.

He seemed secretive about it and she didn"t want to oblige him to divulge it either. She has no plans on having a relations.h.i.+p with him anyway.  Anytime soon,  they will leave the island.

"I mean where did you two meet? Did you just meet on this isle?" Erin inquisitively asked as she greeted the staff at the front desk. The receptionist seemed to know her as she nodded with a friendly smile.

"Yeah," Zoe responded shortly, not because she was uninterested but she didn"t know where to start.

When did they meet? Was it really just recently or was it years before and she just couldn"t remember? 3

Or if they met here, was it when they both saved the drowning ladies? Or when he stopped Lady Zhou from slapping her? Or when he returned her things?

Erin continued on her inquiry. "Did he approach you or you approached him? Both of you were eyecatching so I don"t know whose eyes first saw the other," She winked at her as they made their way to the elevator.

Maybe she would just share only as much as her friend would question her. "Of course him, silly. Have you caught me approaching a guy first?" She flipped her hair, tilted her chin, and made an un.o.btainable beauty pose.

"Hmm. You have a point there." Erin rubbed her chin with one hand after pressing on the up b.u.t.ton at the elevator. She had never seen Zoe talk with a man for longer than five minutes, much less her drawing near to a man.

"So how did he approach you then? Is he like the usual, " Miss, can I get your number?" She vibrantly asked, even mimicking a deep and cool voice. Erin will not let her go until she sipped all the juicy details.

Zoe laughed as she waved her hand. "No. He"s not like that. He"s a gentleman actually. He handed back my bag to me."

"And?" Erin prodded on while stomping on her feet, obviously excited at the next scene. She hasn"t really seen her friend with a guy in action.

"Well, I..." she paused as she put her hair behind her ears. "I pinned him to the ground." She grinned as she revealed her firm biceps.

Erin"s jaw dropped open. "You did not do that. Oh! Oh, my poor Red! You"re unbelievable, Zoe Cheng!" She threw her hands in a frenzy.

"It was his fault. He sneaked up at my back and I have nothing on but my bikinis so I thought he"s a sicko." Zoe defended herself as she twisted her foot like a thief caught in the act.

"How could you think of that face as a sicko?!" She hit Zoe lightly with both hands.

"I said, he was at my back. Ouch!" She blocked her attacks with her arms.

They were in this playful mood when the door of the elevator opened. A lady whom each of them knew personally on different occasions stepped out and greeted them.
