"What I later found out was that once a week princess Momo woud go out to the lake around the same time every Thursday. I had never seen the man she was seeing and soon two seasons went by." Davita explained. "Davita... why was snake meat a delicacy? Did the princess eat any other meat? Why did your family not like you? Why sell you to the palace? You make it seem like the snake clan is a proud race that thrive off of honour." Ariana asked as she furrowed her brows."...You want my whole story don"t you? I just thought you wanted to know how and why I died." Davita said as she slithered closer to Ariana. "I do but I have never met someone like you. I mean your story about the princess seems a little dull? I"m not sure, something doesn"t sit right with me about it and I probaby will find out once I hear more but I feel ike I need to know more about you first." Ariana explained.
"Why?" Davita asked. "I don"t know... I mean with the other"s I felt an emotional connection like I was actualy there seeing them live there lives as they spoke but with you.... It"s like a report and I can"t feel a connection." Ariana replied. "Is that what you need to make your bond with us?" Davita asked. "I, I think so." Ariana replied reluctantly. "Alright but I am not sure myself why my life was the way it was....."
Davita cured hersef up and laid her head on top of her body. She looked up at Ariana with her black, beady eyes, sparkling with happiness. "Davita?" Ariana called out as she tilted her head to the side. She was confused, Davita looked so happy as she got ready to talk about her past life when she knew it was a painful memory.
"You know no one has ever bothered to ask about my past or how I lived. Not my family, not the G.o.ddess, not the other Lumas or your mother. It"s not like I even cared or I should say that I never knew how much I cared until you asked me about my life. I know it"s because you want my loyalty but it"s still a nice feeling." Davita said as her face blushed.
"It"s not like that." Ariana started but then she felt a sharp pain strike her heart. She knew that her words were not entirely true and she couldn"t look Davita in the eyes. "I"m sorry, it"s partially true and I don"t know how our bonds are actually made either but I think I"m just using this as an excuse to get to know you better." Ariana admitted.
"Why?" Davita asked. Ariana raised her hands and rubbed her face. WIth a loud groan she removed her hands and pushed her hair back. She placed her elbows on the table and looked into Davita"s eyes. "You are the quietest one in the pack." Ariana said. Davita shot straight up and looked at Ariana in amazement.
Ariana laughed as she saw Davita"s reaction. She removed her right hand from her hair and started to stroke Davita"s face with her index finger. "It"s true. At least with Vasu I know what he feels and why he wants to be with me. Even though he barely talks but you... you only ever do what I ask. You never really want to start up a conversation and only speak when you feel it"s necessary" Ariana explained.
Davita struggled as she tried to find the right words to express herself. Ariana giggle again as she took her hand away. She crossed her arms and laid it on the table, she then nestled her head on top of her arms and looked at Davita with love and affection. "You know we can take it one step at time. I know Roselyn said we should finish all the stories tonight but finding out that you were a handmaid. Well, it might be harder to get you to open up."
Davita nodded her head and brought her body back down. "So how about I ask you some questions first and we"ll see where it takes us? Who knows you may learn to be a little bit more self centered and selfish after all is said and done." Ariana said as she looked at Davita, her smile never faltered and it caused Davita to blush a bright red.
"I would never!" Davita shouted. "I"m asking you too because we"re family." Ariana said with a bright smie. Davita dropped her gaze, she could feel her eyes starting to water. "You are so different...." Davita mumbled. "I hope so." Ariana giggled. "No.... You never questioned why we we"re with you. You took everything at face value. You loved us unconditionally and never forced us to do things when we knew it was wrong." Daita said as tears started to fall onto the table.
"Is that why you left my mother?" Ariana asked cautiously. Davita said nothing. Ariana let out a small sigh then started to stroke the top of Davita"s head. "Let"s start with something small. Um, oh, what type of place were you living before you were sold to the palace?" Ariana asked.
Davita looked up and Ariana"s heart broke. She moved her hands to Davita"s face and brushed back her tears. "I grew up in the snake clan"s emerald palace." Davita answered. "Oh that sounds, wait what?!" Ariana shouted in surprise. "So were you considered some sort of princess?" Ariana asked. "No." Davita answered flatly. "Was it because you were albino?" Ariana asked.
Davita sat silently for a bit then sighed. "The snake clan is separated into four factions. The Onyx faction, which consisted of black snakes are considered to be the military force of our clan. The Chalcedony faction which consists of gray snakes are normally the scholars and teachers of our clan. The Jasper faction which has yellow snakes are the more common type of snake. They so every other job in the clans. They were the backbone of our society and we could not do anything without their help..."
"And the last were the green snakes in the emarald faction?" Ariana asked. Davta nodded her head. "They were considered to be the n.o.bles of the clan. It was said that they were the ones who closely resembled our n.o.ble ancestors but even then the green snakes were cla.s.sified into different rankings." Davita explained.
"So you had a hierarchy system?" Ariana asked. "Yes and my family was at the top."
