"Ariana, maybe you should rest a bit." Lobo said in a sweet and caring voice. He raised his hand and placed it on Ariana"s shoulder but Ariana shrugged it off with one swift movement. "Tell me! Has the father been the same man or someone different every time?" Ariana asked trying her best to stay strong. She didn"t want to continue the conversation anymore, she wanted to go hide away and think over everything she heard but she had a feeling that if she did she would never get her answers, this was most likely her one and only chance."At the beginning yes. A human, people know him as Lord Victor Romanoff." The Edler said causing Ariana"s heart to drop to the pit of her stomach. She had mixed feelings she let out a small sigh of relief that it wasn"t her father or anyone else on her father"s side but she also felt immeasurable rage. "How could he?! These were all his offspring! Innocent children yet to see the light of the world! He is disgustinh, he is garbage, he is... disturbing!" Ariana shouted as she shot up from the ground.
"That is none of my business how or why people choose to mate with that man but it happened and we have no feelings towards the unborn." The Elder said firmly. "No that"s r*pe! He r*ped every single on of those woman and killed his children!" Ariana shouted as tears started to slowly escape her eyes. "Why is he walking around free?! Why has no one ever notified the authorities?! Or kill him for abducting their loved ones?! This is wrong! It"s all wrong! Why is this still going on?! What is there to gain?!" Ariana cried out. The Elder just waited patiently until Ariana stopped ranting.
"No one cared." The Elder replied. "That"s a lie! So many people searched for their missing loved ones." Ariana hissed as she stared down the Elder. "Do you really believe that?" The Elder scoffed as he glared back. "Yes! My guardian Gregory searched for his fiancee relentlessly!" Ariana shouted. "Every jewel eyed person has been taken without force. Not one person looked away from the amount of money their families were compensated." The Elder said with a firm voice.
"No you"re wrong! You even said you don"t know everything! How can you guarantee that this is true?! How can you prove that all these people volunteered?! For all you know they were threatened!" Ariana shouted as she stood tall.
"Can you prove other wise? I have no benefit for lying to you, nor do I care to make up stories. I only know accounts from the earth familiars who came back to the magical world because their master"s have chosen a different path. Masters no longer needed while familiars no longer stomached to be with their masters. If you want to prove me wrong go look for Penelope"s familiar, or anyone elses and have them tell you their story." The Edler said as half his face shrouded in darkness. His tone was bitter and resentful that Ariana could only hold her tongue as she looked away.
"Families were paid off, women and men had walked into the church"s lair with smiles on their faces. They were promised wealth, power and their heart"s desires in exchange for their lives! The greed of mankind has no comparison! This also includes your mother." The Edler said in a booming voice. Each word pierced Ariana"s heart. She knew that she was just as greedy as any other person but was it so shameful to seek out one"s own happiness?
"How was my mother greedy?" Ariana asked in a strained voice. "Shouldn"t you know that best? We know who your father is and what she did to have you."
Ariana shut down. This was too much. All her other questions flew out the window and she pictured her grandmother heartbroken over the loss of her husband. There was no way she would have sold him to the church but the seeds of doubt started to sprout. She had enough wealth and power to find out the truth, was she purposely not looking because of guilt?
"I don"t want to hear anymore." Ariana whispered as she dropped to her knees and hugged herself.
"Must be nice to be ignorant of the past." The Elder said as a sinister grin started to stretch from ear to ear. Ariana could feel her body tremble, the aura around the Elder changed drastically, he was no longer calm and respectful but cold and ruthless. "We loved your mother, she was kind and generous to all magical creatures. She never asked us of anything and always reprimanded us for acting without her consent. We were so happy that she finally asked for our help that we were willing to give up countless lives to keep her from dying. So many of us died that day. My wife, my son, my brother, my mother, my father, my nieces and nephews, my friends, my neighbours, everyone left to help the priestess even when I voiced my concerns but they were too excited to help her." The Elder said as he pounded the arm rest with his right fist.
"Then she had to rub salt in our wounds! Instead of letting her actual child live her life in shame she summoned another from a disgraceful dimension so she could save her child"s soul! She single handedly produced an abomination and a taboo! Priestess! Ha! She was nothing more then a power hungry wh*re who pounced at the chance to mate with the one she had been l.u.s.ting over for more then a decade!" The Elder shouted.
"Time to go!" Lobo shouted as he scooped up Ariana but the moment he turned to escape fairies started to surround them with their hands glowing a bright orange. "What are you doing?!" A familiar voice called out. Ariana raised her head and saw Mirela flying as fast as she could towards her.
