Chapter 2373 So He’s Ian (4)
Gao Ran shook his head. “Impossible. How could people like them run away?”
From what he knew about Ian after talking with Qin Chu, Gao Ran was sure that the man wouldn’t run away like a coward.
“Then why is there zero news of him? There’s not even a witness that could be found… Don’t these people need to eat and drink?”
Gao Ran was curious also; why wasn’t there any movement?
Logically speaking, the police sketch artist was great at drawing accurate portraits. This many days of no news just didn’t make any sense.
Little did he know… Ian was constantly changing appearances…
He and his men could change their face constantly. Back at the restaurant, when Rick and Xixi met him, Ian wasn’t Ian. How was Gao Ran supposed to find a man with a million different faces?
“Did they find anything at Mo Xue’er’s crime scene?” Gao Ran asked with furrowed brows.
“Not as of yet… The blood and the hairs found at the crime scene have been sent for testing. Results are not back yet.”
“Alright, I got it.” Gao Ran was more than frustrated. His higherups already gave him strict orders to find an answer to this murder case.
Xiang Xin was a famous socialite, Old Xiang was a highly-regarded business magnate, and Mo Xue’er was an incredibly influential celebrity.
Three lives… All gone within a few short days… No one was prepared for this.
Huo Siqian did kill Mo Xue’er himself, but Ian’s men had already cleaned up the scene, erasing any evidence leading to the man.
So, the police would never suspect Huo Siqian… Plus, he had many alibis proving his absence from the crime during that period.
If it wasn’t for the trail leading to Ian, Gao Ran would have brought Huo Siqian back to the station for questioning a long time ago.
Now… the case was only becoming more and more complex…
After the morning meeting finished, Huo Mian returned to her office and opened up her WeChat feed.
Xixi had posted a picture of the airport with a single-line caption: The beginning of a happy new life.
Huo Mian knew what this meant; Xixi and Rick had left the city for the U.S… but… would Xixi really find a happy new life there?
Huo Mian thought about Rick’s complex family affairs and his fiancee Luna, the daughter of a gang leader.
She couldn’t help but worry for Xixi…
As she stared into s.p.a.ce, her cell phone rang. It was Little Bean on video-chat.
Huo Mian’s expression immediately softened at the sight of her daughter’s display picture.
“Little Bean.” Huo Mian called out her daughter’s name gently.
“Mommy, what are you doing?”
“Mommy’s working.”
“Have you eaten yet?”
“Yeah, I’ve eaten. How about you? Did you and your sister eat yet?”
“Yeah, but not at home. We went out… We ate salmon!” Little Bean tried to show off.
You went out? Did you girls go with Grandpa and Grandma?” Huo Mian asked.
“No… Uncle Su came and picked us up. Haha.” Little Bean was beaming with joy.
Hearing that it was Su Yu who took the twins out, Huo Mian’s heart settled back down and wasn’t worried as much. “Oh, I see.”
“Mommy… your makeup looks a little off today…” Little Bean suddenly pointed at Huo Mian’s face.
“Hm?” Taken aback, Huo Mian touched her face instinctively, not knowing what was wrong.
“You should use a brighter tone of eyeshadow! The coffee brown makes you look tired…”
“Alright, little smarty pants, I don’t need you to teach me how to put on makeup.” Huo Mian laughed.
“Mommy, Uncle Su said this seafood restaurant’s really good. Do you want to come and join us? It’s still early… You should be on lunch right now still, right?” Little Bean suggested.
Hearing Little Bean’s words, Huo Mian looked down at her watch…
