Chapter 2133: Controlling the Nothing
A deep-seated fear rose in Motong’s mind as she studied the look in Lu Yun’s eyes. This simple, harmless young man might be thinking of how to refine her!
She was weaker than the late Inferno city lord, but she knew far more than him. Inferno had been small fry on the fringes of the cities of nothing. Meanwhile, she was a part of the core of her faction. Given that the Saviors were weaker than the cities, someone as weak as her was still a vital part of its backbone. In contrast, Inferno had been nothing but an insignificant part of the cities despite his strength.
“You…” She looked at the young man with alarm.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you guys as long as you don’t run afoul of me.” Lu Yun’s smile was as gentle as his tone, but his words were a clear warning. Motong had come with ill intent. He’d easily picked up a trace of enmity and greed underpinning her thoughts.
“While I have the power of a complete heaven and earth on me, I don’t intend to h.o.a.rd everything for myself.” A ball of light appeared in the young man’s hand with a flip of his wrist.
Power from a complete heaven and earth?
Immortal dao cultivators used the power of a complete heaven and earth from the void realm. Hence, this wasn’t a particularly valuable resource. Even immortals of the new world of immortals grasped a complete heaven and earth.
Lu Yun stood to lose nothing if he shared the cultivation method of heaven and earth with the Saviors. Only when one set foot in immortal dao could one cultivate a complete heaven and earth. Not only would immortal dao be strengthened with the addition of a large group of powerhouses, he could also propagate immortal dao through the nothing and create numerous “somethings” that belonged to immortal dao.
It would save him a great deal of effort.
Beyond that, it didn’t matter what the Saviors actually thought and if they were kindly disposed toward him or not. They were just tools to provide free sermons.
Nothing would be left to their own devices after they joined immortal dao.
The power of heaven and earth within immortal dao wasn’t the external circulation of heaven and earth that Lu Yun cultivated. His method was one that led to the pinnacle of subjectivity affecting objectivity. He wasn’t fool enough to teach this method to a group of heavyweights with mixed motives.
He’d only taught that method to Yuan Yi and w.a.n.g Shu for now.
“This is the cultivation method of heaven and earth. Take it.” He tossed the ball of light to Motong.
She caught it with a half-stunned expression. “Are you not coming back to our headquarters with me?”
“Go back with you?” Lu Yun snorted with laughter. “If I did, either you guys or I would die. This is good enough, go on.”
He created a tiny patch of heaven and earth in the nothing and sat down cross-legged to meditate.
Motong took another deep look at Lu Yun before leaving with the ball of light. Her mission was complete—she was here for the complete power of heaven and earth. As for Lu Yun… it didn’t matter who he was or whether he lived or died.
They just needed to lay hands on what they wanted.
In the same vein, Lu Yun would never give the method for an external circulation of heaven and earth to the Saviors. He’d given them a comprehensive method from the void realm. It was completely different from the external world that they cultivated; the two conflicted with each other on a fundamental level.
Their cultivation method had deviated from the proper path starting from the very beginning. It wasn’t something that could be corrected just by showing them scenery from the correct road. If they wished to walk the right way, they needed to withdraw from the erroneous path and re-walk their progress.
Lu Yun couldn’t be bothered with them. His bait resulted only in a Motong bearing enmity toward him. It’d taken a great deal of effort to not refine the woman.
With her departure, he settled into a cross-legged position in the nothing and continued his cultivation.
“Is the nothing really the nothing?” Lu Yun suddenly opened his eyes and looked around him. He stood up, gazing upon the world outside of his patch of heaven and earth.
Instead of a profound darkness that entered his line of sight, it was a sense of being sightless. Just as the blind might see the world, it wasn’t darkness, but an unexplainable sense of failing to see anything.
Where did the nothing come from?
Lu Yun snorted at himself when his thoughts traveled here. He was thinking too much. Life was an accident and matter a fortuitous circ.u.mstance. This was what the core origin of the world should be—completely devoid of everything.
Yet accidents abounded everywhere, just as a meteor occasionally streaked across the tranquil night sky and delivered a moment of eternity.
Unbeknownst to him, Lu Yun’s mentality underwent world-shaking changes as he mused. Why was he fixated on creating existence in the nothing? Why did he need to use his subjectivity to affect the vast objective nothing?
The nothing was enormous and unbounded without end. It was also incredibly small and a single base point. It was because life existed here that there was meaning to the nothing. Then, was the pinnacle of subjectivity affecting objectivity really a proper path? Did an accident in the nothing have the right to affect this eternal tranquility?
Lu Yun couldn’t help but think of the ancient tomb somewhere out there. An unparalleled being was buried inside, one who could affect the objective with the subjective. However, he’d perished all the same.
He’d left a deep impression in the minds of others, but was gone without a trace after a fleeting moment—just like the meteor shooting across the sky. It briefly illuminated the entire night sky, but beyond that?
Lu Yun’s eyes turned pure black as the immortal force and strength of heaven and earth within his body receded like the tides. It was replaced by a power that didn’t possess any attributes. His body also began to fade and disperse.
The nothing barrelled into his body, seeking to a.s.similate it.
But in that moment, he jerked to his senses. The power of heaven and earth grew within his body and immortal force returned, expelling the nothing.
The nothing was without attribute or violent energy. One could easily repel it if one was strong enough. If one’s cultivation wasn’t sufficient to enter the nothing, one would be instantly a.s.similated by it.
“I was a bit too hasty, I haven’t reached that level yet. I may not be able to come back if I become the nothing.” His lips curved upward as he extended a finger. A tiny dot of nothing hovered over it, the size of a grain of rice.
This pinp.r.i.c.k of nothing was under his full control.
Subjectivity affecting objectivity was just a certain type of influence. It was using his own will to change the nothing, forcing rules to sprout within it. That was all.
The tiny dot of nothing in his hand was wholly under his sway. He could transform it into anything he wanted with a single thought.
Such was meant from something being born from nothing.
From nothing came dao, from dao came one, and one begat two, two gave birth to three, and from three resulted all living things.
Lu Yun had tread the path that led to subjectivity affecting objectivity, but now he seemed to have created another fork in the path.
This fork was be larger, broader, and stretched further than the original path. He changed direction without hesitation and took the fork.
