Chapter 2170.4: Connate Spirit Root
“Future mistress?” The smile slipped off Fengxian Wu’s face. “You can’t even beat Lu Yun. It looks like there’s not much to the future sect leader of the Nineheavens PaG.o.da.”
She snorted and looked at Lu Yun again. He’d already put the flying sword into his storage ring. The Nineheavens PaG.o.da? He truly wasn’t concerned about them.
“Sir Cloudexit, I admit that I won through a fluke just now. It was because you were distracted,” he said cheekily. “If we were fighting in earnest, I would be no match for you.”
That slightly mollified Cloudexit, whereas the cultivators behind the young lord looked on darkly. However, they didn’t dare say anything. Everything the Lu young master said happened to land precisely on what the young lord cared about. Whoever dared interject now would face their young lord’s wrath.
Forget it, we’re just here to ensure that the young lord is safe. He can do whatever he’d like as long as he’s not in imminent danger.
The soul projection expert exchanged glances with the people behind him. Sir Cloudexit was the sect leader’s only son and his doting on the young lord knew no bounds. There was once a latter nascent soul disciple who refused to obey the young lord. For that, the sect leader crippled him and threw him in the dungeons.
Everyone in the entourage was of important standing, but they were here only as the young lord’s guard. Of course, they weren’t the only ones from the sect in the city since a dao weapon was at stake.
“But, although this young lady lives at my residence, she is not part of the Lu Clan. She has nothing to do with my family.” Lu Yun was unable to conceal the apprehension within his tone despite attempting to appear calm.
A self-sure smile immediately spread across Cloudexit’s face.
“Heh heh, miss, you heard that. Now go back with me.” He walked up and reached for Fengxian Wu’s hand.
Off to the side, He Wuheng closed his eyes. This Cloudexit was about to be struck with incredible misfortune. The c.o.c.ky young lord of the greatest sect in a fourth rank empire had just provoked someone he really should’ve left alone.
A frosty demeanor crept over Fengxian Wu’s face.
“Lu Yun, I’ll make you pay for this later.”
Smack!
She raised her hand before she spoke and drew an agonized yelp from Cloudexit, sending him flying. His left cheek was immensely swollen and he spat out all of his teeth as he tumbled.
“How dare you?!” gasped some cultivators by the young lord’s side. Who would’ve imagined that a woman in the Lu residence would dare harm the young lord?!
They hadn’t taken action earlier because they’d backed themselves into a corner. If they acted against Lu Yun, that would be eating their own waste matter.
Whoos.h.!.+
An initial nascent soul cultivator snorted coldly and dashed to Fengxian Wu. He grabbed for her neck.
Smack!
The nascent soul cultivator also went flying with a crisp slap. He ended up in similar straits as Cloudexit—teeth spewing from a b.l.o.o.d.y mouth and half of his face caved in.
Dead silence reigned. Everyone looked at the beautiful fairy like they’d seen a ghost. An initial golden core cultivator had sent an initial nascent soul cultivator flying! This was beyond flabbergasting in a low rank empire!
In the meantime, a trembling Cloudexit came back to his senses. Fengxian Wu had clearly shown him mercy or he’d be missing his entire head if she’d used full force.
The woman wore an aloof expression behind her face veil. She glanced at Lu Yun, but didn’t say anything.
He Wuheng swallowed hard. He’d l knew that Miss Feng was very strong, but who would’ve thought that she’d be this strong? She’d sent a nascent soul cultivator flying with her cultivation of initial golden core!
Nascent soul was unbeatable in a third rank nation.
“You didn’t let me down,” Lu Yun quirked his lips upward. “Saving you with a Violet Orchid Ganoderma Pill was well worth it.”
“Take her!” snarled the soul projection cultivator. He sent the other nascent soul cultivators forward with a wave of his hand.
“You seek death!” Fengxian Wu sneered and moved lightly, dancing around like a lithe flame.
Smack smack smack!
Each of the seven cultivators, including two latter nascent soul cultivators, suffered a slap to the face and was thrown backward. Fengxian Wu returned to where she stood before, as if she hadn’t taken a step away.
“How dare a paltry Nineheavens PaG.o.da throw its weight around in front of me. I can exterminate you for this offense!” She lifted her chin upward while she spoke calmly, like she was describing an ordinary occurrence. Exterminating the Nineheavens PaG.o.da seemed as commonplace as eating and drinking to her—not something worth taking note of.
Fear dawned in Cloudexit’s eyes and his guards sucked in sharp breaths. They’d truly provoked someone they couldn’t afford to, someone they should’ve avoided at all costs.
“Exterminate my Nineheavens PaG.o.da? This young lady speaks bold words!” sounded another voice as sword light flashed through the air. A bulky man arrived on the scene; he brimmed with unbounded aura that pounced viciously on Fengxian Wu.
“Second senior brother!” Cloudexit called out when he saw the man.
“What a disgrace,” snorted his senior brother in complete lack of consideration. Cloudexit ducked his head, resentment flas.h.i.+ng through his eyes.
This second senior brother was initial soul projection, but the aura he exuded far outstripped that of the soul projection cultivator next to Cloudexit.
“Young lady, no matter who you are, Darklake is Dark Orchid property because it is a va.s.sal nation. It is untoward that you show no face to the Nineheavens PaG.o.da.” The senior brother turned around and stared straight at Fengxian Wu.
“A mere Nineheavens PaG.o.da is nothing to me,” she snorted.
“Hahahahahaha!!” the second senior brother roared with laughter. “You may have an impressive background, but you’re just a grounded phoenix at the moment. Will anyone know if I capture or kill you?”
His aura suddenly expanded balefully. “If my guess is right, not even the Lus know your true ident.i.ty. You will die in ignominy if you die here.”
A shrewd light glinted in his eyes. “You have insulted my Nineheavens PaG.o.da and the Lu Clan are accomplices. Men, kill everyone from the Lus, including this woman!”
Humm!
Sword light s.h.i.+mmered in the air as a dense net of energy came down from above, encircling the entire Lu residence.
“The Nineheavens PaG.o.da and others laid their plans long ago. Cloudexit was just a p.a.w.n.” Lu Yun immediately detected that the sect was fully prepared to eliminate his family. The Darklake emperor was likely distracted by other matters at the moment and had no attention to spare for the Lus.
Rumble!!
The Major Cycle Nebula Formation activated in the air and enveloped the residence in a layer of scintillating starlight.
“Kill!” The sect had been stymied by this formation when they attacked three years ago and the Darklake emperor had further appeared to smooth over matters. The same would not happen again today.
Lu Yun took Fengxian Wu and He Wuheng back into the complex. As domineering as the sword light was outside, they could not break the formation.
“So it is the Major Cycle Nebula Formation.” Emotion flickered over Fengxian Wu’s face as she looked up at the formation as brilliant as the night sky. “Lu Yun, I never would’ve thought that a small family like yours would possess this formation.”
Lu Yun blinked. “Is it famous?”
“Not here,” Fengxian Wu shook her head. “But it surpa.s.ses the ancients and amazes the contemporaries where I am from.”
“Where you are from?” Lu Yun brightened, subconsciously thinking of his grandfather and wondering if they were from the same place.
She refused to speak more on that matter. “If my guess is right, you used my presence to divert some of the attention from the Lus. You’re going to make me the cause of all the recent changes in the family, aren’t you?”
“Oh?” Lu Yun sized up Fengxian Wu and stopped on her chest. “They say that big b.r.e.a.s.t.s compensate for small brains, but Miss Feng has both b.r.e.a.s.t.s and brains.”
Fengxian Wu was very uncomfortable with how Lu Yun was looking at her. “I recommend you to not try the same tactics on me, they won’t work.”
“Is that so?” He smiled, but retracted his gaze. Now wasn’t the time to tease the young lady.
The Nineheavens PaG.o.da had a.s.sembled three soul projection and dozens of nascent soul cultivators in a ma.s.sive sword formation that attacked the complex. The Major Cycle Nebula Formation trembled successively, ripples undulating through its surface.
“Why are you so calm? Are you not afraid they’ll break the formation?” Fengxian Wu suddenly asked.
“Why should I be afraid when you’re not afraid?” Lu Yun shrugged. “You said so yourself that this formation surpa.s.ses the ancients and amazes the contemporaries. It would fail to live up to its reputation if a few soul projection small fry could break it.”
