Chapter 2180.1: Impending Chaos
“Terra Demon could crush one hundred empyrean immortals with a single finger in his prime,” Lu Yun transmitted to Helian Shan. It was a staggering notion, but it might be useful to let the man learn a bit more about them.
Lu Yun had far more trump cards than this.
A Terra Demon in his peak could blow thousands of immortals to death with one exhale, to say nothing of one hundred empyrean immortals. Immortal kings were the peak existences of the world of immortals and empyrean immortals simply baby immortals.
Helian Shan stared at Lu Yun with utter shock.
Two faint dots of gold flashed through the young man’s eyes. Helian Shan suddenly felt that he had no secrets in front of the Lu young master.
“Disciple Helian Shan greets the master!” Helian Shan grit his teeth and turned his head with effort, but still remained kneeling in Lu Yun’s direction.
“A connate mortal const.i.tution is destined to be barred from immortality, but walking my path means that setting foot through the doors of immortality are but a matter of time!” A smile finally broke through Terra Demon’s aloof expression.
Lu Yun didn’t find his statement surprising. A connate mortal const.i.tution was the same const.i.tution that Terra Demon once had, but he’d resolved it to help the latter become one of the peak existences in the world of immortals.
Helian Shan had the same const.i.tution and would never become an immortal if nothing unexpected happened. He’d stop at the peak of awakened cultivation.
The law enforcer shook like a leaf when he heard Terra Demon’s last words. Being unable to become an immortal was the primary reason why the chief enforcer hadn’t accepted him as a disciple. How would he not be agitated to hear from his new master that the opportunity existed after all?
He didn’t doubt Terra Demon’s words as anyone who could identify his const.i.tution with a single glance was far from ordinary. If he’d previously bowed his head out of fear for the other’s strength, he did so now with wholehearted acquiescence.
With that, Helian Shan became Terra Demon’s disciple. He’d come to take a disciple, but somehow became a disciple himself. Lu Xiaochi wanted to imitate his actions, but Terra Demon declined.
He could give Lu Xiaochi pointers, but take the high lord’s second uncle as his disciple? He would never dare!
Additionally, with Lu Xiaochi’s connate spirit root of the five elements and training in Lu Yun’s Major Five Elements Demolition G.o.dslayer Record, Terra Demon didn’t have the right to be Lu Xiaochi’s teacher.
Activity quickly abated at the Lu residence that’d been ready to erupt in banquets and celebrations for three straight days. Everyone in the capital soon learned that the Lu second master had been ready to become a law enforcer’s disciple, but plans had fallen through. The Lu Clan immediately became the laughingstock of Dark City.
According to rumors from the Lu household, the vaunted law enforcer had changed his mind primarily because of the Lu good-for-nothing. The prodigal young master had been so arrogant that he’d offended the enforcer, making the latter leave in a huff.
With that, Lu Yun’s infamy was even greater than before. He dared offend eminent law enforcers! There really was nothing that the pestilence of Dark City didn’t dare do!
In the meantime, the Yuwen pill workshops operated and expanded with relish. Spirit stones flowed into the Yuwen Clan like water and the Nineheavens PaG.o.da supporting them gradually revealed itself. The Ouyang pill paG.o.das were completely eliminated from the capital and from the empire as a whole.
After the pill and medicine markets, the Yuwen Clan struck in all major industries relevant to cultivators. Other than the Mo, Lu, and Ouyang Clans, all other clans in the capital s.h.i.+fted to the Yuwens’ side—even the Zhao and Yu Clans.
Lu Yun remained oblivious to everything and went about his daily business. These days, he was very tight-knit with a group of cultivators from the northern quadrant as their greatest benefactor. He often visited these dregs of society because he wished to collect goodwill. When it came to helping the weak and poor… Well, he was no saint. He was here only to accomplish his own goals.
But thanks to his efforts, the living situation in the northern quadrant showed marked improvement. The Lu young master was still an irredeemable thug in their eyes, however, because he visited the northern quadrant disguised as another.
He was incredibly well known throughout the empire and after the Ouyangs allied with the Lus, there was no one who could keep him in check. If he swaggered into the northern quadrant, no one would be the least bit grateful to him. They wouldn’t even dare pick up spirit stones that he flung into the street.
Thanks to goodwill from tens of thousands cultivators, he was now peak initial golden core and a step away from mid golden core.
……
Mo Qiyue came to visit on this day.
“You’ve exerted control over the Ouyangs?” He looked at Lu Yun with surprise and incomprehension. He’d spent the past year in Great Xia as opposed to staying in Darklake, so he didn’t know what’d taken place before returning.
“But why expose yourself if you’ve taken over the Ouyangs? You could have them lie low in the enemy camp and be your spies. Wouldn’t that benefit you more?” Mo Qiyue was very curious as, after a series of exchanges with Lu Yun, he was certain that the Lu young master wasn’t the number one profligate that the rumors made him out to be. He was indeed a prodigal, but a wastrel? It was more like him wasting his opponents.
Lu Yun curled his lip; Ouyang Shengtian was a wily old fox. Who knew what he’d get up to if Lu Yun didn’t stabilize him as soon as possible? Have him be a spy for the Lus? Lu Yun would more likely get lost in a series of double crosses.
He could make use of Ouyang Shengtian, but never trust him. Perhaps the guy was an undercover agent sent by the enemy!
“Aiya!” Lu Yun smacked himself on the forehead with regret. “Why didn’t I think of that? I was just so concerned with increasing the family’s strength as fast as possible…”
Mo Qiyue looked dumbly at the young man, not knowing what to say.
“Ah, whatever, you always put on a good act,” he chuckled ruefully. “Where’s Miss Fengxian? I’m here for her this time.”
“Fengxian Wu? Does her family want her back?” Lu Yun blinked, then understood the situation. Given the appearance of Immortal Burial Valley, the Profound Wing, Dark, and Darklake Empires were about to be plunged into chaos. Fengxian Wu was just golden core, so her family would not be at ease leaving her in the Jade Ruins Realm.
Mo Qiyue had long been aware of Fengxian Wu’s presence at the Lu residence. An awkward expression had flashed across her face when they met at the Beast Colosseum; it was then that Lu Yun began suspecting Mo Qiyue’s ident.i.ty.
That was why he hadn’t shown face to anyone but the Mo young master.
“Miss Fengxian Wu said she wanted to visit Immortal Burial Valley three days ago, so I sent Terra Demon with her. They’ve probably arrived by now,” Lu Yun answered after a pause.
“What?!” Mo Qiyue paled when he heard the response.
“What’s wrong?” Lu Yun frowned. Something was amiss. Immortal Burial Valley was a very fat sheep that regularly spewed out treasures, pills, and medicines. While none of them were anything high rank, they were still extremely valuable to any empire beneath sixth rank.
More importantly was that the items were all previously immortal items. They were very useful to Lu Yun, which is why he sent family members to collect them.
“Great Xia has decided to investigate Immortal Burial Valley.”
Those of Great Xia snorted at the valley’s name. A place being called Immortal Burial Valley simply because three wandering immortals had died there? A world of cultivation was a world of country b.u.mpkins indeed.
Since the dynasty wished to investigate the valley, the royal family had to decrease the heavenly book’s influence over the Jade Ruins Realm to the lowest degree possible. That would make room for cultivators of other worlds and some of Great Xia’s own wandering immortals to surge into Jade Ruins Realm. All of that would send the realm into confusion.
“When?” Lu Yun’s face stilled. This would result in great changes to the land.
“Three months.” Mo Qiyue concealed nothing as these details weren"t a secret to certain people. “The Human Emperor of Great Xia, eight kings, and thirty-six marquises have entered the Celestial Realm Battlefront to call upon the heavenly book. Its influence over the Jade Ruins Realm will gradually decrease starting from today and be completely nullified after three months. That is when Great Xia immortals will enter the realm.”
“So this means that a growing mess will engulf the realm starting from today?” Lu Yun narrowed his eyes. How interesting.
The heavenly book restricted immortals from entering a world of cultivation. Only when the book’s effects were nullified could immortals fully deploy their might in a world of cultivation.
Otherwise, the worlds remained the home of cultivators and taboo to immortals! After all, it wouldn’t be worthy of its name if immortals could come and go at will.
“Do you know who the Lu Clan enemy is?” Mo Qiyue sighed.
“The Origin Sect of Great Xia, how are they?” asked Lu Yun.
etvolare"s Thoughts
Is he really still calling Terra Demon by that name in front of everyone lol. He... should probably change it, huh?
