Chapter 7
And so Kuders returned to his room and…
"No good!"
Just as Kuders shouted this, there was a loud pop and a clump of eerie tentacles disappeared. And then they were replaced by colorful flowers.
How many times had he repeated this? The floor of his room was covered in a layer of petals so thick that it looked like a carpet. However, this carpet…was wiggling.
"Hmm. It really is a problem."
He groaned like a constipated bear. As for what was troubling him—kill the Crown Prince and his lover… Those were the words Adelia had whispered to him. Ever since that moment, he had struggled over whether he should make this wish of hers come true.
Should he kill them? Was there another way? Or should he try and change her mind?
Those were the kinds of thoughts one would a.s.sume would be plaguing his mind. However, demons were not humans. And Kuders was eccentric even among them, so it was no surprise that he thought differently.
As he let out yet another groan, another clump of tentacles was born in his hands.
The dark red tentacles were covered in suckers. They twisted and writhed on the ground as if they were trying to get his attention.
It looked a lot like being in a sea of octopuses. This was especially bad, due to how vigorously they still moved. And yet it was somehow worse than just that, because the severed edges of the tentacles were spreading sticky strings of fluid everywhere and endlessly dirtying the floor.
It just so happened…that when Kuders started to think hard… These strange tentacles would start to appear.
It was no surprise that no one wanted to get close to him when this happened, and so the guards that were a.s.signed to watch over Kuders did so at a distance.
Well, they were not the only ones who were watching Kuders.
"Hey, aren"t you men supposed to be overseeing him! Make him stop this disgusting play at once! And if you can"t do that, move me to another cell!!"
Now, even Kuders"s neighbors were complaining.
However, the guards just ignored them with troubled expressions.
They knew that doing such a thing would lower their esteem as far as their superiors were concerned.
And that wasn"t the worst of it.
–One of the prisoners we are guarding is spreading disgusting, magic tentacles all over the floor. And so we are moving his neighbors to different cells.
And then their superior would reply:
–Then simply put an end to his tentacle creating.
However, that meant entering his d.a.m.ned domain of writhing tentacles.
They did not have the courage to do that. Not in the least.
If that was what would happen, it was much better to just ignore the complaints of the other slaves.
"…But, what will happen? Maybe they will disappear by themselves after a while."
"How would I know? I doubt anything can be done. Hmph. We can just order the other slaves to deal with it."
The slaves overheard this conversation and immediately grew anxious.
"Isn"t that a little harsh? Besides, they may not obey us."
"Then what can be done? Are you going to go in that room and pick up those slimy things and stuff them into sacks?"
"Don"t even joke about that! Just the thought of touching those things makes my skin crawl!!"
Everyone could agree with that.
But there was nothing that they could do.
They would have to wait for Kuders to reach the revolutionary idea he was searching for. And then he would stop this eerie ritual of his.
It was as the guards came to this defeatist conclusion.
"Ah…"
"Hey, wait!!"
Someone had just walked pa.s.sed the guards.
And without a moment"s hesitation, the intruder stepped right into the cell that had become Kuders"s own demon world.
"I thought it was strange that you were staying quietly in your room for once, and this is what I find!? How dare you fill this cell with such disgusting things! d.a.m.n you!!"
He shrieked as he trampled over the squirming flowers. It was the man with the angry eyes that had pushed Kuders into this cell on the first day.
"Ah, Mister Zanahoria. You must excuse me, I"m very busy right now."
"It"s not Zanahoria! Zanatoria!"
Kuders smiled and raised a hand towards him. The man name Zanatoria had short orange hair, just like a carrot. And he now mercilessly swung his fist at Kuders.
"That hurts!"
"You invited it with your words."
"But I think Zanahoria suits you. It"s easy to remember because your hair is like a carrot."
Kuders continued to nonchalantly unleash such inconsiderate words, and so Zanatoria went behind him and grabbed him from the back.
Then…
"It"s not fine with meeeeee!!"
"Oooooooo!?"
Kuders was picked up and thrown back.
A corner of the dark and wet room thumped and shook as he fell to the ground.
"Wow. It is no wonder they call him Cabello Fuego. He stepped into that h.e.l.l without hesitation and threw that nuisance to the slimy ground."
"But…did he just hit his head? He could die."
And yet, in spite of the guards" concern, Kuders picked himself off of the sticky floor as if nothing had happened.
And then, without even trying to wipe away the goo that dripped from his hair, his eyes opened wide.
Shudder.
…There was such an abnormal light emanating from Kuders"s eyes that everyone shivered.
Oh, d.a.m.n it! Has the blow to his head caused him to go mad?
Such thoughts raced through their minds. They stared at him with wide eyes, even as they backed away. And then Kuders opened his mouth and muttered.
"Yes. I have decided."
"Eh? What is it you"ve decided? Have you decided to be sold off quietly?"
Zanatoria said with a mixture of ridicule and hope. However, Kuders"s response was as unpredictable as always.
"No, I"m going to plant some watermelons."
Uh, what, you…why…watermelons?
The words were so confusing that the minds of everyone watching went completely blank.
Thank you so much for the recent donation! It means a lot.
