The next morning, Ye Jiao could clearly feel that the poison was making her stomach feel terrible. It seemed that despite her immunity, she was still unable to counter the poison perfectly."Brother Yu, just how much did you put it?"
Lu Wan smiled wryly. "It"s the most potent one I have because I"m planning on using it as my main weapon."
"…What if you got hit accidentally?"
"It"ll just raise my poison immunity, so it"s fine. As for the after effect, I"m sure that I"ll be fine," Lu Wan waved his hand. Internally, he knew that it would surely make him unable to leave his bed because of pain in his stomach. After all, his digestive system would be disturbed.
It was amazing that Ye Jiao still managed to walk around even though she felt so much pain in her stomach. He himself was not sure that he could do it. Probably, he would need to train his poison immunity even more if he wanted to stay well.
Even though Ye Jiao didn"t fully believe her senior brother, she didn"t pester him any longer as the two of them headed to the restaurant. Seeing the large number of people that morning, the two of them wondered whether these people slept or not last night.
"Good morning, Ai Jiao and Yu Shui," the inn owner greeted them with a wide smile.
"Good morning. Is there any good news today?" Ye Jiao asked curiously as if she didn"t know anything.
"Haven"t you heard that last night the governor died? Everyone is so excited that we celebrate it the entire night," one of the servants chirped in.
Lu Wan arched his eyebrows, acting as if he was confused. "Is that why the street is so noisy at night? Also, I thought you all like the governor."
"Not really, we didn"t like his rule and so on," the inn owner glossed over the matter.
"If the governor died, who"ll be the new one?"
"We"re planning on selecting one of the Eon Energy Master rank 1 in this village. They"re going to hold the compet.i.tion not long from now. Do you want to watch?"
"Unfortunately, we have to return back," Lu Wan refused.
"I hope that the new governor can be a good person and didn"t abuse his power. He"s not like a child that needs to be watched over, right?" Ye Jiao added with a smile on her face.
However, her words caused the inn owner to pause in his action for a moment. It seemed that he had just come to the realization of how much power the governor had. Still, he didn"t show it in his face as he was speaking to two children.
"You"re right, there"s no way that could happen."
Ye Jiao nodded. "It"ll be nice if he can get along with one another. Just like me and my brother, we always watch over each other."
"And I"ll scold you if you"re wrong," Lu Wan added.
Listening to the two children, the inn owner"s body shook as he had just found out that their conversation could be used for his matter. If they had more than one governor, said vice-governor, the governor would never be able to abuse his power. Even though this system was common in cities, it was something new in a secluded village like this.
"I"ll excuse myself for a moment. Please enjoy your breakfast."
Ye Jiao giggled when she saw the inn owner dashed out. "Mr. Owner is funny today. By the way, what"s for breakfast?"
"We have potato soup…"
The two of them sat down after they ordered their food and Lu Wan looked at Ye Jiao. "You don"t have to mention anything to them, you know? This is just a small village and one person is already more than enough to lead."
"I just don"t want someone who reach rank 2 use his power thoughtlessly," Ye Jiao yawned. "After all, it"s possible to reach rank 2 with the help of resources."
For people who have lesser talent and didn"t have any hope to reach greater rank, they would surely try to gain some pill and device to help them. There were some of them who could help them reach rank 2 without the need of talent, but their price was astronomical. Additionally, using them would block their path forever.
That rank would be the highest one they reached in their lifetime.
"I doubt this village can afford that."
"I"m just saying," Ye Jiao rolled her eyes. "Anyway, we"re going back right?"
"Yeah, but I"m sure that Master is going to be angry."
"Why?"
"Because we"re going to take a long time to return back."
Recalling their master, the two of them felt grim. They knew better than anyone that their master would surely not tolerate them arriving late.
"Here"s the food."
As soon as the food arrived, the two of them ate in a hurry and filled their belly with food. Even though Ye Jiao was still feeling unwell because of the poison, she ignored everything and just ate and ate. They wouldn"t stop at all until they reached Bao Fu Organization Headquarter, so they had to eat as much as possible.
"We"ve finished. Thank you for the food."
They left five copper coins before they ran out of the inn.
"Do you know where they put the corpse? We need the head, right?" Ye Jiao recalled that they needed proof for their mission.
"It"s over there."
The corpse was placed in an abandoned shed. Looking at the beaten up corpse, the two of them knew that the villagers didn"t leave him off even though he had died. No one guarded the shed because they didn"t care for what happened to the governor.
"We should have taken it last night."
"It doesn"t matter. It"s good to see the villagers slightly happy because they can vent their frustration to this man."
"Yeah," Lu Wan took out a blade and cut off the governor"s head. He silently placed it inside a cloth and saved it in his storage bracelet.
"Let"s go."
As soon as they left the village, the two of them ran at high speed that was hard to be seen by normal people.
"Senior Brother Lu, do you think we can cut down the time again?"
"Let"s just hope that we can cut it down to 4 days."
"But even then, doesn"t it mean that we still take 13 days to complete the mission."
The two of them were given 30 days to complete the mission. But knowing their master, Zhan Jing would surely hope for them to finish the mission far quicker than the designated time.
The question was, by how much?
"Let"s just hope that it"s enough time to satisfy our master."
"Why are you talking as if you"re unsure?"
"…"
Reaching an agreement that they would do their best to avoid punishment, they ran even faster than before.
