The time they spent on traveling was cut down even more as they used their Eon Energy and pushed forward faster. Lu Was exhausted while the other two were relatively in a better situation."We don"t have every day to travel, Lu Wan," Qi Huan smiled. "You should get used to this pace."
"Don"t have my head! We"re traveling hundreds kilometers in mere three days!" Lu Wan yelled angrily. He coughed after he yelled as his breathing hasn"t turned normal yet.
The three of them had arrived near the designated city after traveling for a long time, but they hadn"t entered it yet because they could see a large number of people in front of the gate. In addition, Lu Wan still hadn"t caught his breath again.
Ye Jiao nodded. "It"s also useful to train our stamina and control of Eon Energy. I"m sure you"ll get better soon, Senior Brother Lu."
"I"ll kill you two…."
Qi Huan hit Lu Wan"s back hard. His eyes glinted with a hint of killing intent beneath it as he smiled. "Hm? Did you say anything, Junior Brother Lu?"
Seeing the threatening smile on the young man"s face, Lu Wan could only back off. He cursed himself internally. Aside from getting an unreasonable demanding master, he also got a hard to handle senior. When would he regain his peaceful life?
"N-nothing."
"Come on, let"s look over there. The crowds didn"t seem to decrease in the slightest," Ye Jiao pointed to the group of people in front of them.
Rather than decreasing, it seemed like it had increased a bit since the time they arrived by the city. The three of them came out of the forest and slowly walked over to the crowds. Their ears could hear what these people were yelling about.
"Let us in!"
"Please, it"s already cold winter! We"ll die if we stay here for a long time!"
"Come on!"
"Please!"
Lu Wan was stunned. "What in the world happens here?"
"It"s city lockdown," Qi Huan was the one who answered them. "At times, some governors will decide to lock their city and don"t allow anyone to come in or out. There are various reasons why a city decides to lockdown and the most plausible reason in the middle of the winter is just one: lack of food."
"What?"
Ye Jiao"s eyes widened. "You"re telling me that this big of a city is lacking food?"
"Things can happen," Qi Huan shrugged. "It often happens back in Chi Kingdom when the winter is too long, but this is indeed a bit too sudden."
"Perhaps, it"s an intentional lockdown?"
"It"s possible. We already receive report that whoever come inside have never make it out, so we don"t know what happened inside."
Lu Wan cracked his fist. "If they didn"t have any plan to open up the door, then we just have to tear it down, right?"
Smack!
"Idiot, if you do that, do you think that we won"t catch any attention?" Ye Jiao felt like she really had a troublesome little brother rather than a senior brother. Every single time he said something, she had the urge to knock a little sense to his head. It seemed that this senior brother of hers wouldn"t stop spouting nonsense.
Qi Huan sighed. "As he grows, he seems to become more idiot. I have been wondering how you survive in your residence so far."
"I"m just locking myself away most of the time."
"Let"s search for another way to get inside," Ye Jiao started walking. If they were unable to get inside through the front gate, there should be a way one or another for them to get inside.
Qi Huan followed suit with Lu Wan behind him. The two of them were curious as to what Ye Jiao was planning. It wouldn"t be easy for them to get inside a city that was currently locked. Every single pa.s.sage would surely be cut off.
As they circled the wall, their eyes landed on a small channel into the city.
"Even if they lock down the city, they can never close the sewer," Ye Jiao smiled. "Adults won"t be able to get inside, but it should be possible for us."
"Wait, you want us to get into the city using the sewer? I"m not going inside," Lu Wan shook his head rapidly.
"That"s interesting."
"YOU TOO?"
Qi Huan pa.s.sed a look to Qi Huan. "You"ve already experienced getting drenched in blood and it"s fine with you. It"s just a little different kind of thing."
"THAT"S NOT JUST A LITTLE!"
Seeing how the two of them could act so nonchalant with it, Lu Wan got the urge to yell at them. How could they just accept it so well? He didn"t want to touch it. If it was possible he would just stay outside.
"Wear the wig first to make sure that you look different," Qi Huan took a wig and wore it. The wig was a short brown hair. With Qi Huan"s face, it made him look like a handsome rogue.
"All of your wigs are for male," Ye Jiao frowned. She picked the most feminine one and wore it. It was a long brown hair that was tied into a bun to the back.
"It can be for females. Here"s one for you."
Lu Wan took the wig and hesitated for a second before wearing it. His was a slightly long wig, but it made him look rather feminine instead. If one didn"t know better, they might even think that he was a female.
The other two looked away when they saw Lu Wan like that. Since they were still children, their body hadn"t fully developed. It would make one easily thought that Lu Wan in front of them was a female rather than a male.
However, the two of them chose to stay silent.
Ye Jiao crouched down and looked inside. "It"s fairly big. I"ll crawl first, then."
"Ok. I"ll follow after you."
As Ye Jiao got inside, Qi Huan turned to look at Lu Wan. "You used to be living in a remote village, why are you getting hyped up about these things? Just think of them as the fertilizer one usually uses in the garden."
"I did live in a village, but I still didn"t come in contact with these items. Do you think I"m crazy enough to touch them?" Lu Wan truly wished to yell once again.
"You didn"t do any gardening?"
"NO! It"s weirder that a prince like you instead didn"t mind it at all."
Qi Huan shrugged. "It"s not like having a sky high pride will grant me the chance to live a long life. If it"s necessary, I don"t mind doing things that ordinary worker usually do. I might be a prince, but I"m also a normal person."
"What?"
"You can come over now, it"s empty here," Ye Jiao"s voice sounded from the other side of the wall.
"Ok," Qi Huan responded as he crouched down. "You can go over if you want, but if you don"t want to, you can try to search for another way to get inside the city."
Lu Wan stayed still in his place for a few seconds, mulling over what Qi Huan said. He had experienced days when he had to struggle just in order to live. Those days were hard.
But it seemed that on the back of his mind he still couldn"t shake off the thought that he was still a n.o.ble. He didn"t mind doing anything that a servant usually did, but he never thought of putting himself at the very bottom.
Uh, normal people indeed wouldn"t do something like that.
"Screw it."
After pus.h.i.+ng his own thoughts away, Lu Wan crouched down and walked into the hole, persevering through the deadly smell as he headed to the other side.
