Meanwhile, Kang Jun was in an important meeting. A project his company had been working on had encountered some problems late in its conception and everyone was at a loss about what to do about it.Kang Jun was in a difficult position where he would, most likely, have to compromise and lose some profit.
A tense atmosphere surrounded the room.
Though Kang Jun was calm.
For the normal man, the amount of money to be lost was a lot, but Kang Jun felt like the meeting was just a formality so he sat quietly as those around him deliberated.
Either way, they were not going to lose any money if he had any say in it but first, he would allow his employees to talk amongst themselves to find a fix that suited everyone and if they found a better solution that he had planned then so be it.
At work, Kang Jun was like the king of h.e.l.l. He never smiled, never showed any warmth and had a short temper when it came to stupidity, lack of effort or uselessness.
He could fire someone on spot with no remorse but his employees never complained because of how vital he was to the company and because he was always fair.
Everyone was treated the same, so they couldn"t complain.
"So what should be done, President?" An old male employee asked.
He was one of the people who had been in the company prior to Kang Jun"s introduction as president and he had worked with both of Kang Jun predecessors so he always spoke more casually to him.
The room became deathly quiet.
Kang Jun looked at the man for a moment, and then to the rest of the room. He didn"t look satisfied at all. Though no one ever knew what Kang Jun was thinking about, so they just antic.i.p.ated his response.
Kang Jun allowed the tension to build for a second. They were right, he wasn"t satisfied, they hadn"t even come up with one proper idea.
How could he let them off easily?
Is that really all that the best of Kang Corporation could come up with?
Did they feel so comfortable that they didn"t have any more incentive to work?!
Kang Jun sighed and he opened his mouth to speak but just as he was about to, he felt his phone buzz so he looked down to check it, without a second thought.
AnLing: [Mr. Kang, forgive me if I"m wrong but are you courting me?]
When AnLing sent the message she didn"t fully expect Kang Jun to answer quickly. He was at work and she knew that corporate work could be very taxing.
But she completely underestimated him.
Throughout the whole meeting, as soon as he had received her text, Kang Jun had given her her priority.
When reading Kang Jun her message he began to frown. Seeing this, the people in the room began to shiver.
Another piece of bad news? Today couldn"t be going any worse.
Kang Jun*: [Why do you ask?]
AnLing: [No reason.]
Kang Jun: [Do you want me to court you?]
He was completely serious about what he was saying. He was courting her already, of course, but not as hard as he could because of his inability to fully comprehend his own emotions.
Usually, he didn"t question his feelings as much as he did when it came to AnLing but before taking any decisive action, Kang Jun wanted to be wholeheartedly in something. He would never do anything he wasn"t fully invested in.
And pursuing a girl for the first time was an important decision.
Without proper knowledge and understanding, Kang Jun knew he could end up like the many men and women who had given themselves to their emotions only to cheat or be cheating on or to hurt and to hurt others.
Kang Jun didn"t want to be part of those people, so every day since he had begun to feel his heart move, he observed himself closely.
Was this love?
He was still slightly unsure but one thing he did know for sure was that with one text, AnLing could brighten up his day.
AnLing: [No!]
Kang Jun could only imagine the cute blush that would appear on her face.
Kang Jun: [No?]
Kang Jun replied cheekily.
Teasing her had become his pleasure.
The people in the room noticed a strange aura resonating from Kang Jun. It was one they"d never seen before but his face remained stone cold. So, naturally, they began to fear that the worst had happened.
AnLing: [No not no. What I meant was that it"s not about wanting or not wanting.]
Reading her reply made Kang Jun"s heart warm. He wanted to tease her more and more. The breaks were beginning to stop working.
Feeling himself open up to AnLing, Kang Jun began to understand that he could probably no longer hold himself back.
Maybe he should try to court her with all his might... He wondered.
He had to get married soon anyways, so what a perfect time to fall in love. Since the day he met her and allowed the scent of orchids that surrounded her to consume him, he had known that he had just found his future wife.
If he wasn"t around his coworkers he would have definitely smiled but right now, he had an appearance to keep up with.
Even so, without showing a smile, his face began to soften considerably and his aura cleared up revealing a type of spring-like freshness. The unease in the room didn"t disappear immediately but they could feel that nothing bad caused their boss"s reaction.
What resonated from him felt like... happiness?
The boss was really happy!
Everyone in the room was quiet. They all just stared at him as he concentrated on his phone. The more he concentrated, the more serene watching him became.
Who had this effect on their boss? No one could fully comprehend the situation.
No one, except for Mr. Long, of course.
Finally, after a long pause, Kang Jun stood up and walked to the door.
"President, where are you going?" the man who had spoken to him before said.
Kang Jun paused.
He couldn"t concentrate on the meeting anymore.
He had almost completely forgotten his surroundings and a part of him wanted to answer "I"m going to court my future wife" but instead he said.
"I have some more urgent matters to attend to"
A feeling of dread pa.s.sed through the room, once more.
What was more important than this meeting?! All the employees screamed internally but Kang Jun left, ignoring all the strange looks his coworkers were giving him. Mr Long followed close behind him, slightly worried.
"Are you sure you should walk out of such an important meeting?" Mr. Long said. The worry in his voice made his beliefs clear to Kang Jun but he completely ignored his subordinates question.
"Do you need me to drive you?" Mr. Long asked.
He didn"t really want to drive Kang Jun but, alone in the car, he could try to ask him about what should be done about the problem.
Kang Jun: "No."
Mr. Long had no choice but to accept Kang Jun"s decisions but that didn"t stop him from walking him straight to his personal elevator.
Seeing his secretaries hollow face, Kang Jun, crossed his arms over his chest.
"Finish the meeting without me and then tell me the details later, we"ll hold another meeting tomorrow for final deliberations."
The elevator closed before Mr. Long had the chance to answer. In the end, once Kang Jun had left, Mr. Long sighed and entered the meeting room. Inside, the coworkers were talking amongst themselves.
Not about the meeting, but about their boss"s strange behavior.
"Secretary Long, what is wrong with the boss?" one man said.
"Yeah, he seems really fresh… it creeps me out." another said.
"What are you talking about. He"s always fresh!" a woman who had been sitting quietly retorted.
"You"re biased." the man replied with a sneer.
Suddenly an argument ensued between the women and the men in the room. The men, so use to seeing the boss cold, were shocked about his sudden change. The sudden 180 made their skin crawl.
While the women, no less shocked, were glad to see a new, softer, side of their good-looking boss. His change in aura made him seem more approachable. Though it didn"t mean they"d actually approach him.
They didn"t have a death wish.
As they continued to argue, Mr. Long ma.s.saged his temple, waiting for a good time to interrupt.
Only one employee was not paying attention to the situation, it was the old man that had questioned Kang Jun. In his own little corner, he sat typing away on his phone.
Old Man: [Kang Jun has left the building without completing the meeting. He was texting someone and then began acting strangely before he left. Old Kang, tell me, what"s going on with your grandson? He seems to have changed.]
Neither the old man nor Elder Kang were well versed at using technology but they made do. Noticing that having one would make it easier to keep track of his grandchildren, Elder Kang learned how to use one and forced a couple of his closest ex-employees and friends to do the same.
Once Elder Kang received the message he looked at it curiously and then began to laugh slightly.
Usually, he didn"t understand this grandson at all but after seeing a girl in his car last time and reading what had just happened, Elder Kang could vaguely a.s.sume that Kang Jun was acting on his promise.
Elder Kang smiled at his phone cheekily.
Finally, that grandson of his was taking interpersonal relationships seriously.
