Despite putting Lu AnLing"s things in the room across from Kang Jun, Rong Lihua didn"t expect Lu AnLing to sleep there. Kang Jun and she were married so they must, in her opinion, sleep in the same bed.The woman didn"t say this to the girl at first, but after they had placed Lu AnLing"s thing"s in her room, she brought the girl to Kang Jun"s door and said,
"This is where you"ll be sleeping."
Understanding the woman"s insinuation, Lu AnLin tried her best not to blush.
After this, Rong Lihua brought Lu AnLing on a tour of every nook and cranny of the house. The whole time Lu AnLing couldn"t help but show amazement on her face. Seeing this, Rong Lihua believed the girl to be one who was raised in simplicity rather than a young miss of a prestigious household as Mr. Long had said.
But that didn"t quite matter to Rong Lihua.
Instead, the old woman showed Lu AnLing all that had to be shown without holding anything back. Since the house was small, the tour finished quickly.
Working as Kang Jun"s personal housekeeper for a while now, Rong Lihua knew that the man had purposefully chosen a smaller villa so that he could put more emphasis on security.
When the young master was just a child, the family, under the aging Elder Kang, had become vicious. Back then only Kang Jun and Kang Zhi had been recognized as the grandchildren of Kang Guanting. This forced relatives to take sides and bets on who was to become the future heir. This provoked many attacks on both Kang Jun and Kang Zhi"s lives.
Rong Lihua could only guess that this had taken a toll on the boy"s subconscious...
Leading Lu AnLing to the living room, Rong Lihua insisted she and Kang Mingyu make themselves comfortable before she dragged Rong Xin to the kitchen.
Once they came back, Rong Lihua was holding a cup of tea in one hand and a gla.s.s of milk in the other while Rong Xin followed behind her with a plate of snacks.
Rong Lihua handed the gla.s.s of milk to Kang Mingyu who had antic.i.p.ated it.
"So," Rong Lihua started as she placed a hot cup of tea in front of Lu AnLing. "Tell me about yourself."
Lu AnLing: "Ugh… where would you like me to start?"
Lu AnLing didn"t feel too comfortable talking about herself, mostly in front of two people who were close to the Kang"s. Yes, she understood that they were mostly close to Kang Jun but the fact that the two people who had stolen her child were also very close to Kang Jun, Lu AnLing wasn"t sure what to believe and who to trust.
When Kang Jun had told everyone about their marriage, Lu AnLing was completely shocked. Hadn"t they agreed to keep their relationship a secret?
In the heat of the moment, Lu AnLing was completely panicked but when she had felt his touch, she had completely calmed.
Kang Jun had a plan... at least that was what she believed.
Rong Lihua: "How about, let"s start simple. How old are you?"
"26."
"Are you educated?"
"Yes."
As she asked more and more questions, Rong Lihua watched as the girl"s mind wandered and sighed. To her, Lu AnLing seemed like a simple girl. One that would not be able to handle what the Kang family would throw at her.
Rong Lihua: "Where did you first meet young master Kang Jun?"
"Airport." A voice said from behind.
Rong Lihua turned to see Kang Jun towering over her.
"You"re back already?" Lu AnLing said.
Kang Jun smirked. "Is that a problem, darling?"
His words came out in a seductive whisper only audible to the girl"s ears.
In his home, Kang Jun had no shame. It was at this moment when Kang Jun bent down to kiss her neck lovingly, that Lu AnLing understood this and she turned an appropriate shade of red.
"Please stop." Lu AnLing groaned but, truth be told, she loved the way it felt.
Witnessing this public display of affection even Rong Lihua had to turn away, but then she groaned herself. "I agree with the young mistress, please stop. My grandson and I are living breathing human"s, not statues. Save this kind of stuff for the bedroom."
Hearing this, Rong Xin chocked on his own spit.
"Grandmother!"
The woman completely ignored the boy.
"I"m going to make dinner now." Rong Lihua sighed as she pushed herself up. "We have a lot to celebrate today so, young master, young mistress, is there anything special you would like?"
Lu AnLing shrugged."Not in particular."
"Seafood." Kang Jun said.
The man knew that Lu AnLing preferred seafood over all other protean"s so why not serve it to her. Though it wasn"t only because she liked it, it was also because Kang Jun had read that on special occasions such as this one, it was lucky to eat seafood.
He wanted their union to be blessed.
Hearing this, Rong Lihua nodded, though before the woman could leave, Lu AnLing spoke up.
"I think I"ll go help Housekeeper Rong with the cooking."
Kang Jun: "That"s not necessary."
"I know… but back when I was living abroad I barely cooked anything but noodles. Sometimes my friend would cook things for me but other than that… though now, it"s different. I want to learn how to cook."
Listening to her reasoning Kang Jun felt that there was no reason to stop her so he allowed her to do as she pleased.
The man didn"t quite know what she meant by "it"s different", but a part of him felt as if it had something to do with the fact that they had married.
By her side, Kang Mingyu looked up at Lu AnLing.
"I want to help too!"
Lu AnLing wasn"t sure if she should say yes or no but by then Rong Lihua"s face lightened up.
"Little young master that"s a great idea. Every woman likes a man who can cook, right?"
She said directing the last part to Lu AnLing.
A bit taken aback by Rong Lihua"s att.i.tude Lu AnLing was silent for a moment but then she nodded with a smile.
"Of course, plus it would be fun to cook together. "
Kang Mingyu"s smile widened. Then he held his hands up, asking to be held. Lu AnLing did as he commanded and then the three walked in the direction of the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Kang Jun was left frowning and he wondered if he should take up cooking.
The man completely ignored Rong Xin at his side.
"I"m sorry..." Rong Xin said as he stared at his grandmother who held Lu AnLing"s back amicably.
When he was younger, Rong Xin would constantly apologize to Kang Jun due to his grandmother"s manner but Kang Jun never minded.
In fact, he preferred those who were like Rong Lihua. She wasn"t conniving nor manipulative and she would speak her mind if something truly bothered her but also she wouldn"t get too involved in another person"s business.
Kang Jun shook his head. "Go with them. And if anyone asks, I"m in my study"

It had been a while since Kang Jun had entered his office and all he had been doing was staring blackly forwards as many thoughts crossed his mind. Then, as if an idea had popped into his mind, Kang Jun opened a secret compartment in his desk.
All it contained was a notepad and a whiteboard. He took both objects out and then placed it upon his desk.
Picking up a pen, the man sighed.
Kang Jun"s face was completely stony and his whole demeanor was completely the opposite of the happiness he exuded around Lu AnLing. Now, he was deathly cold.
He began to write on the paper.
He wrote down the date of Lu AnLing"s child"s birth, the inconsistencies he had found in his research, the ones who he knew were involved and then he listed those he believed could be involved with a question mark beside their names.
They were, Qiao Lan, Elder Kang, Secretary Rong, Elder Qiao, Chong Feng, Kang Mu, and Mo Ruyi. Just in case, he had also added the names of his brothers and several of the Kang family servants.
It was better to be safe than sorry. Examining the list, he sighed before he wrote on the whiteboard
[Lu AnLing"s Child]
Staring at the words, a thought flashes through his mind. It was one he couldn"t ignore.
Wait…
Wouldn"t the child technically be their child?
Thinking that way, Kang Jun felt warm and fuzzy inside.
Their child…
That sounded good.
At this point, this was what Kang Mingyu was and what Kang Mei Xue was destined to become if Kang Jun could ever contact his grandmother.
Suddenly, another thought appeared in Kang Jun"s mind, causing him to frown. Slowly he picked up the dry erase marker and then wrote a question down.
[Who is the father?]
