Phoenix's Fated Half

Chapter 104

Everyone from the dining table had dispersed to different directions. Qing Qing was with Mi Rong who was comforting the little girl and played with her. While the two girls were together, Xue Li was somewhat reading a book she had randomly picked up from the shelf.

There was a long wooden table placed in the Feng family"s library and Jun Kai was going through a very old book. He looked through the contents and seemed to be reading aimlessly. Nevertheless, on the surface, his attention was focused on the book and did not take a look at Xue Li.

Xue Li who had been sitting beside him couldn"t find the right moment to speak to Jun Kai, so she had been opening through the book in her hand.

Yesterday night, the wedding plans had been moved up by her father and Jun Kai"s father, the two families have agreed and have been notified, but it seemed like everyone in the Feng family acted like they were not aware of it at all. The invitations have yet to be sent and the outsiders were aware of this yet, especially for that woman. Nevertheless, the wedding had been set for next month and the engagement day would be next week before the wedding. All was left was to persuade grandma Feng. Then, invitations would be sent, but the problem laid with the old lady.

Although Jun Kai had not agreed to it yet, his actions seemed to have changed today. This was the only reason she had come to the Feng family"s house. However, grandma Feng seemed to have shown no signs of acknowledgement to it. This was clearly suppressing her.

She would not let this go that so easily, hmph. Xue Li looked up from her book and outside the window. Her eyes showed a glimpse of coldness for a short moment before it vanished. Her eyes soon became calm as she watched the elder lady outside. It was like the calm before the storm.

A housemaid carefully led grandma Feng to the garden. After breakfast, she found that walking had been a great help for her to digest her food. She would take a stride around her house every morning.

Xue Li watched as grandma Feng took a walk calmly. Her lips hooked up ever so slightly. She then turned her eyes away and continued going through the book in her hand.

The day pa.s.sed by, as usual, however, today, with Qing Qing"s request, Mi Rong decided that she would stay over for the little girl.

Lunch had come and Mi Rong, Qing Qing and Grandma Feng were all sitting at the dining table. However, this time there were no signs of the young master Feng.

When the three were about to start eating, a notice was given from the young master Feng. Housekeeper Hai came up and notified everyone that Jun Kai would be having his dinner in the library.

Hearing the housekeeper, grandma Feng couldn"t help but complain, "My my my, he"s been in that library all morning. How long does he think he"s going to be in there?" Grandma Feng did not mention the other person that was also with Jun Kai at all. She really wanted to not think about wait her son had told her. A marriage? Not going to happen.

To grandma Feng"s question, no one could reply that question to grandma Feng. Although there was one person missing, the meal was not completely quiet since there was Qing Qing had kept the mood lively.

Soon as everyone finished their dinner, grandma Feng slowly asked Mi Rong, "Mi Rong ah, could you do me a favour?"

Mi Rong who had finished her lunch replied without much thought, "Yes, grandma Feng?"

Grandma Feng saw the moment and asked, "Could you deliver the food for Jun Kai for me? I"ll be with Qing Qing."

Although Mi Rong did not want to go to see the other person, she couldn"t reject grandma Feng, "Yeah, I can do that." She got up and took the food tray from one of the housemaids. There was another housemaid that followed her to the library. They both headed to the library.

Soon they arrived in front of the library. Mi Rong did not hesitate and walked inside. Her face did not have any emotions and walked in casually. She walked in seeing the two people sitting side by side at the long table. Her eyes had some change of emotions, but it soon disappeared.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Xue Li looked up from the book and when she saw the person walking in, her face changed and became slightly ashen. What was she doing here? Hmph, just to get attention. Xue Li then looked away and didn"t say anything about it.

The two had come in but no one showed any signs of speaking. The housemaid that had come with Mi Rong did not know what to do since the young master Feng and Mi Rong had said nothing. While the housemaid followed Mi Rong inside, Mi Rong headed straight to the long table and placed the tray in her hand on the table. She placed it down calmly then turned around and proceeded to walk out. The housemaid was fazed with miss Mi Rong actions. Miss Mi Rong left just like that? Nevertheless, the housemaid did not remain behind and left just like miss Mi Rong.

"Wait." Before Mi Rong could leave the room, a voice called out from behind.

She turned around and her eyes had met with the other person. Both had no emotions in their eyes and were very chilling. Although his eyes could make others shutter, Mi Rong did not retract her eyes away. They didn"t stay quiet for long when he spoke with his low voice, "I"m not eating, take mine out."

His words seemed to be intended to the person that was by the door. However, her face showed ignorance. Mi Rong simply gave a soft scoff and left. She had delivered the food tray to him, but it did not mean she had to be responsible for clearing it. Mi Rong walked out like she did not hear anything and the spoken words that had been spoken were just the wind whistling.

Seeing Mi Rong leave, Jun Kai was slightly displeased and on the surface, his brows were knitted together. However, deep down he knew he was slightly complimenting her seemingly indifferent actions. In the end, it seemed it was only her that would dare to reject him. Adding up to everything, in the end, she had been the only one caring for his family without any conditions. He would personally express his grat.i.tude after the case of his wife is done. He retracted his eyes from the door and to his book. The room became silent once again.

Little did Jun Kai know what was truly in his heart other than grat.i.tude.

The housemaid quickly took back the food tray from Jun Kai and hastily left the library. Soon it was back to how it had been before Mi Rong"s arrival.

On the other hand, Xue Li became frustrated inside. This Mi Rong would always hinder her plans. If she weren"t here would be great! No, if those two people were not here would be even better. She secretly began her little plan beside Jun Kai. For the man she loved, she would do anything...
