Phoenix's Fated Half

Chapter 140

Jun Kai was slightly confused with her actions, but could not do much about her objection, "Put me down." Her cold indifferent voice refused Jun Kai"s help. From feeling disregard by the person in his arms, Jun Kai immediately let her go.

Mi Rong was startled by Jun Kai"s sudden release and let out a small squeak. Her arms acted subconsciously and wrapped around Jun Kai"s neck in a tight grip. Only her soft legs fell on the ground.

With the tight grip, her arms had pulled the other person into a closer distance to her and Jun Kai"s arms inevitably wrapped around her body. His hand was placed close to where her wound was, but it was close enough for Jun Kai to feel the dampness. Meanwhile, Mi Rong had no more s.p.a.ce to think of the close proximity between them since her wound on her waist had been triggered. It must have been open again, tsk.

Her brows slightly furrowed in a frown and her eyes expressed her pain. At the same time, Mi Rong could not help but took the st.u.r.dy body beside her as a dependable pillar and leaned her full weight onto him without knowing. The grip on Jun Kai"s neck had also tightened due to the pain that she was going through. Despite the pain, Mi Rong only kept silent from trying to hold in the pain.

Without realising, Mi Rong was so close to Jun Kai that he felt slightly uncomfortable. Her heartbeat"s rhythm was beating close to him that he could hear it and her hot breath was blowing on his chest lightly. Jun Kai truly wanted to leave some s.p.a.ce from between them. However, looking at her expression from her eyes, he did not know why, but he could not push her away. He simply chose not to make it harder for her and merely took his hand away from her in fear of causing any more pain.

Mi Rong took a deep breath out as she tried to keep calm. Only then did she realised how close she was to Jun Kai. As if touching a hot fire, her body reacted almost instantly. She immediately pushed him away from her.

However, she was unable to go any farther from him as he pulled her straight back to him. She was pulled right into his arms once again. Mi Rong wanted to vent her displeasure, but Jun Kai"s alarmed face stopped her. As she was going to question him, she was answered by what happened next.

A terrifying ear breaking explosion erupted into Mi Rong"s ears. She took one glance at Jun Kai"s grave expression and turned to look behind her. The entire building was burning in red fiery flames. The fire began from the back of the building and like a storm, it rushed towards the front. Everyone else was all leaving and running away from it.

Mi Rong looked back to the person who was holding her close. Jun Kai"s deep eyes had also turned to look at her. The pair shared what felt like a long time, just the two of them. Sharing some kind of unknown connection.

It took just a few seconds for the flames to reach the front. As the gushed of fire and explosion arrived, the windows exploded into tiny pieces across the area.

Jun Kai"s tall body stepped before Mi Rong and covered her entire body. Then, the blast came. Both Mi Rong"s and Jun Kai"s body were pushed away and flew onto the ground a few meters away from the building.

The two fell on the ground unconscious.

From a treetop closeby, an icy figure stood tall. He stood on the tree branch effortlessly and his purple suit was slightly blowing with the wind. His chilly eyes were focused on the two figures lying unconscious from the blast.

His hands clenched into a tight fist so tight that his hands were shaking. It took him a brief moment to calm himself down and once he had calmed himself, his hand were also released freely.

He laughed bitterly to himself. Those higher folks would probably think of him as a laughing stock. The curse he had placed on their lineage seemed to be backfiring at him instead. Mi Rong ah, if only you were had no ties or looked almost exactly like her…then things would be easier to finish.

Mi Rong ah, Mi Rong, you should be the last of that lineage to travel and try to stop. Only if you are gone, then I can regain what was rightfully mine. Don"t tell be telling me later that I am cruel. I have given you too many chances to come to me. The cycle of the full moon will arrive soon and on that day shall I put this to an end. I"ll make sure you won"t have to suffer for long...

The tall figure waved his hands behind his back emotionlessly. He should speed things up, so this heart of his would not be out of its line. His eyes no longer looked at the two and as the time ran out, he soon left, not waiting to see if they would wake up or not.

Jun Kai and Mi Rong were still unconscious on the floor. One laid on top guarding the other; Mi Rong laid beneath Jun Kai"s protection. It was like a princess that was s.h.i.+elded by her protector.

The two, both lying peacefully together. As if in a deep sleep.
