1 week after the haunted house incident, one afternoon, Rico was walking on an overpa.s.s across a busy highway from school. Then, halfway through, he saw a cool, blue-haired kid named Lunick, who came to the Philas Region for a bit of a vacation. They both crossed paths to each other, but neither of them see each other.

He did this for an overnight stay at Wesley"s house. Arriving at the town"s train station, Wesley greeted him and led him to his house in town. At Wesley"s house, Wesley and his family welcomed him and let him to stay as long he wanted. This time, Rico brought his brown, dark blue, and green backpack instead of his shoulder bag, due to including clothes and others for an overnight stay. Later, Rico and Wesley went out to town, looking at monuments and eating out. Later they encountered Lunick, who was walking in town.
"Hey! You kid again," Lunick called Rico in greeting.
"You again?" Rico responded in confusion.
"Yeah," Lunick brightly replied, "I"m Lunick, from the Lauren Region."
"Oh, okay," Rico replied as he lowers his confusion, "I...uh...I"m Rico, from this region."
"And I"m Wesley, his friend," Wesley happily added, "Nice to meet you."
Later, at Wesley"s bakeshop, they are having a lunch, which consists of sandwiches, a basket of salad and fruits, and water. As Lisa gave them a plate of Chocolate-filled bread, Lunick asked the two kids, "So, you two, do you have any Pokèmon?"
"Yes, two," Rico answered.
"Mine is one," Wesley added.
"Nice," Lunick replied, "Then you two are beginners."
"Yeah," Rico said in apology while scratching his head, "But not starters, just wild."
"Mine is a starter from Sinnoh," Wesley happily added. Amazed by this information, Lunick responded, "Wow, you two are the two types of Pokemon trainers."
"Yeah, we are," Rico replied. This follows a short silence, with eating and drinking. After that, Lunick asked Rico," So, do you want a battle with me? I have three Pokèmon."
"I"m not sure about that," Rico answered with hesitation, "You look tough for me, and I"m only beginning."
"Don"t worry, I"ll go easy on you," Lunick brightly responded. Thinking about this, Rico agreed with him.
Later at the town"s plaza park, Lunick and Rico had a Pokèmon battle, a one-on-one battle. They then called out their Pokèmon, Croagunk and Litleo. Upon seeing a new Pokèmon, Rico was mildly stunned, and asked, "Who"s that Pokèmon?" He then pointed his Pokedex towards Croagunk; the Pokedex then responded, "Croagunk, the Toxic Mouth Pokèmon, a Poison and Fighting-type. Its cheeks hold poison sacs. It tries to catch foes off guard to jab them with toxic fingers."
"Oh," Rico calmly commented upon hearing this, "That is." Moments later, he shivered in fear after hearing the former type, and continued, "A poison-type?!"
"That"s right," Lunick brightly replied.
"I"m...I"m afraid of poison-type Pokèmon," Rico responded with mild panicking.
"Why?" Lunick replied in asking and in confusion. Rico hesitated at first, but when being asked the second time, Rico sighed in admitting, and told Lunick and Wesley why he was afraid of poison-type Pokèmon.
(Flashback)
Rico, as a young kid, was playing in the woods while his father was gathering firewood for a campfire. It was a golden afternoon. And as he plays with his Shinx stuffed toy, a wild Venipede intervened into the scene.
"Awww, you"re so cute," Rico responded upon seeing that Venipede. He then tickle its head, causing it to be aggressive and hostile. It then used Acid Spray, spitting Rico acidic fluid, striking him. Rico then was struck by poison acid, striking him to the ground; in desperate for help, he exclaimed, "Daddy! Help! Help!" His father then was alerted, and rushed back to the campsite. Upon seeing his son being attacked, he called out his Samurott and commanded it to use Hydro Pump. His Samurott then used Hydro Pump, blasting water at high power, striking Venipede, and even sent hurling towards the sky. Once that Pokèmon was gone, Lucas took his son, and rushed home, which was less than 100 meters from their campsite.
There Rosario was shocked at what happened to Rico, and suggested her husband to take him to the Pokèmon Center, which he agreed. Then, the couple took their child to the Pokèmon Center, which is almost next to Rico"s school. At the Pokèmon Center, Nurse Joy lay Rico on a bed, and performed a check-up. Later Nurse Joy informed the couple that their son was poisoned, and asked what happened to him. Lucas then told her what happened. This stuns her, and suggested to apply medicine to him, and let him stay in the Pokèmon Center for at least a week. The couple agreed, and later Nurse Joy applied medicine to Rico to remove the sprayed poison. It was successful, and all it needs is a good rest.
One week had pa.s.sed, and Lucas and Rosario visited their son in the Pokèmon Center. Rico, fully healed, was resting in his bed, when his parents arrived.
"Mom, dad, you"re here," Rico calmly greeted them.
"Hi there, sweetie," Rosario brightly greeted him back. And then, Lucas sat on Rico"s bed next to him, and said, "Son, I think poison-type Pokèmon are dangerous for you. When you become a Pokèmon trainer, you should never catch a Poison-type Pokèmon. That"s for your own good. Understand?" Rico then nodded in agreement with him.
(Flashback ended)
Wesley and Lunick are shocked and amazed at his story, with Wesley commenting, "Woah, that"s why. Strange."
"Yeah, and my father forbid me from catching any Poison-type Pokèmon," Rico concluded his story.
"Well, that"s a reason," Lunick responded, "I respected that." This follows a short silence, and Lunick said to Rico, "Okay, let"s battle!" Rico then nodded with positivity.
