But considering how serious Kazuya looks, Lyn understood that things were serious. Lyn wanted to rea.s.sure him not to worry. But she didn"t understand what was going on. She ought to speak to Allen and clarify things. Why is he rus.h.i.+ng their marriage during these peril times? Their relations.h.i.+p isn"t good lately, why would he insist on it?What"s more, it"s a political marriage in the end of the day. Lyn doubts that Allen would rush the marriage even if he had feelings for her. That man seems to be the type who would spend a very long time, courting the woman he liked.
Lyn knew Allen very well, while the two of them could never become a real couple. They respected each other as an average couple should. They would never bring shame to their names. Even when other girls throw themselves at Allen, he would clarify that he has a fiancé. Even when people tarnish her name, Allen would step up for her. He wouldn"t necessarily argue on her behalf, because there is never any need to do so. Allen would shut them up with one sentence.
Her thoughts broke off when Kazuya lifted her off her feet, "Kazuya? What"s the matter?" He doesn"t answer right away, and eventually, he gently laid her down on the ground. Her back against the tree.
"You, do you still love him?"
"Eh?" Why does Kazuya know about the feelings she had for Allen?
Kazuya sighed, "Well, I figured it out. It"s not like anybody told me, you made sure to hide it right?"
Lyn was speechless still, so she didn"t answer him. Kazuya continued, "Before, you seemed hesitant. When I asked you to be in a relations.h.i.+p with me. Even when it was still a fake relations.h.i.+p, I noticed you hesitated. At the start, I didn"t bother prying too much. Anybody would be skeptical about a fake relations.h.i.+p. However, when I asked you to be in a serious one, you hesitated. I should probably have asked you if you had somebody you liked."
"K--Kazuya, wait you misunderstand. It"s not like.."
Kazuya smiled and shook his head, "You don"t have to worry about it too much. I figured it was something like that. I mean, even if it is an arranged marriage. The two of you were very close."
Her cheeks flushed red in embarra.s.sment when she realized what he was talking about. Kazuya definitely saw what happened that time Allen took her for a walk after the meal with his relatives. He must have seen, and even heard what they spoke about. Lyn frantically shook her head; she couldn"t care less whether or not she had unsettled feelings for Allen. She didn"t have time to figure it out.
If Lyn said nothing now, she had a feeling she would lose him forever. So, instead of using words, she conveyed her feelings using her actions. Lyn wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in for a kiss. It was a first for her, initiating a pa.s.sionate kiss like this, and Lyn had a feeling it wouldn"t be the last. "This idiot," Lyn thought. What is he doing misunderstanding things? He"s such an idiot. Would she have accepted going on this journey with a mere stranger? With somebody, she doesn"t like? Yes, part of the reason why she agreed to go on this trip was Kazuya. Lyn hoped that along the way they would be able to make some memories with each other.
"I didn"t think you could do that."
"D--don"t misunderstand," Lyn stammered.
Rather, Kazuya"s reaction. It"s not like what she thought it would be. His face is red, indicating he is embarra.s.sed too. But somehow, Kazuya gently caressed her cheeks, "Lyn, you"re beautiful."
R--right? And? And--uhh? Lyn knew her head was turning into a mess. She no longer knew what to think.
"About what you said before, you mean it?"
"Yes," she shyly looked down, "I do."
"Mmm, maybe after this trip?"
Wh---what?!! Isn"t that too sudden? Doesn"t she need to mentally prepare herself first, so why is Kazuya making such a brazen suggestion? Why--wh? Kazuya smiled and kissed her forehead, eyelids, nose, and lips gently, "Sorry, I know I"m too abrupt. But, when I think of the possibility of another man taking you. I become livid," his expression grew more serious, "Before he takes you, I will."
Idiot, is this a compet.i.tion now? However, Lyn deeply sighed. Now she understood exactly why Kazuya was acting this way. For some strange reason, Kazuya truly finds Allen as a threat. Allen has never once shown to her that he likes her that way. Not once has he treated her like a woman. Sure he has been acting a bit odd since Kazuya came here. But other than that, there"s no reason to worry at all. Lyn looked at him, "This is the first time for me, seeing him this way," Lyn thought.
Kazuya is always wearing that stupid and foolish smile on his face. However, occasionally, he would wear such a serious look on his face. Which is the real him? Lyn didn"t bother questioning it before, she was happy just being able to stay by his side. But now things are different, they are an official couple now. The problems she evaded before. She can"t do so now.
Lyn turned to him with a serious expression too, "Kazuya, why are you so uneasy? Will you tell me the truth?" Why is he so afraid, when she already gave him her word? His actions made little sense to her. But she was no longer going to sit around and wait for him to tell her.
To her surprise, Kazuya suddenly pulled away from her. He took his time before he replied, "There is no need for me to answer that."
Eh? Lyn"s eyes widened, Kazuya"s words were oddly cold, and the look in his eyes darkened by the minute. This is the first time she has ever seen him like this, towards her.
"Just answer my question, Lyn, do you still want to marry him? Yes or no."
She stared at him, dumbfounded by his very actions. What is this stupid man thinking? Is he crazy? Yes, he must have gone mad. Kazuya genuinely believes there is still something between her and Allen, otherwise why else would he act like this? Lyn paused as she recalled something. Now that she thought about it, Kazuya has been acting oddly since he met with her sister, right? If Lyn thought about it carefully, the only other person that could have told Kazuya about her feelings for Allen is her eldest sister. So that"s it, how stupid.
