It was never her fault. Allen always regretted the way he treated Lyn after their engagement. Even if he treats her well, he remained distant from her. If Lyn was the only one who noticed it, then fair enough. But those around them saw it too. That"s why some people didn"t treat her seriously. While on the surface, it looked like her family members have accepted her. There are those people who secretly bad mouth her.Ever since Kazuya came, those people are now voicing their thoughts out regarding Lyn. It"s a good thing people have yet to figure out about Lyn appearing as Zepher"s fiance. To a certain degree, they are controlling the situation with the rumors. Just a few more days, and everything will come under control.
His gaze fell on the girl who was busy cooking. Allen thought it would be better to distract her, so he asked his companion to allow her into the kitchen. Naturally, chasing away all the servants.
"Now, be amazed at my amazing cuisine cooking."
Lyn sat beside him and placed the last plate down.
"Huh, hey, this is pretty good. .." he trails of taking another bite. He doesn"t know what it was, but the taste that filled his senses then seemed to dispell the ugly feeling inside him. Or maybe he"s just hungry. He doesn"t remember eating anything at all yesterday. With all the work occurring lately, it"s challenging to find time to eat.
"Do you like it, Allen?" Lyn looked at him with bright eyes.
"It"s perfect."
"Yay, I did it," Lyn cheerfully replied.
She"s so chipper and happy. Why is that, Lyn, find ways to smile even during the most painful moments?
Allen knows that she is pain; after all, she cried so much last night. He knows his actions have caused her to suffer even more. Even though he came back here intending to help her in any way he can. All he has done so far is hurt her.
"Allen, I have something I want to show you," Allen drank a spoonful of soup.
"The case your working on?"
Lyn nodded. "There are some reports I want to discuss with you too."
Didn"t Pupillam say it during the banquet? "Right now... anyone who"s near her must realize it. The abnormality in the Princess. Dancing in this way that even scares herself, it seems like she"s las.h.i.+ng out with ferocity. All the onlookers will fall under a spell in which Princess is the only one on stage. A one-man stage, an overwhelming power in existence."
Perhaps even now, Lyn is bearing such loneliness despite being surrounded by so many people. He"s really against this idea. But spying her expression, he knows he won"t be able to say no.
"Let"s hear it then."
"You"ll listen?"
"Yeah."
Lyn nodded enthusiastically as she scrambled off his lap and started rummaging through her bag, which was in the side. She"s finished it, and yet she"s been carrying it around with her. Allen reached over and patted her head.
"Allen?" Lyn said puzzled.
"You"re working very hard in the shadows again."
Lyn laughed, "Well, that"s just how things are. Don"t mind it too much, okay?"
How can he not? Why does this girl who works so hard lack attention? He brought his lips to her cheeks. Before he knew what he was doing, he was touching her a lot.
Allen was losing his mind; her skin was so soft and smooth under his fingers that he couldn"t let them go. He tried to explore every centimeter of her milky skin that hidden by her clothes he was really starting to hate.
Why does she have to wear such a fancy kimono for? When did she get something like this anyway? Then again, when he met her at the party. She wore a gorgeous western dress — something he wouldn"t have expected from her.
His hands wandered all over her back and her legs. He wanted to hear more. More of her voice and more of her laugh, to listen to her call his name. However, catching the deep marks on the back of her neck and even her shoulders, he pauses.
He wants more and more, even though she belongs to someone else? Is that really okay? Allen already has the answer to that. He can"t do anything to her, even though he wants to.
Lyn suddenly backed away from him, "Uh, wait. I don"t know what to think."
"Forgive me," Allen apologized. What was he doing just now? It felt like somebody possessed him. Acting like a barbarian with no self-control. Lyn will never belong to him, that"s one thing he understands better than anyone.
Allen grabbed hold of her hands, slipped the ring on her finger.
"Eh, this ring is--"
Allen gently caresses the small tint of pink in her cheeks. "... Even if you don"t marry me, I want this to be the special ring that you don"t take off." Allen knows that it is wrong to say those words. Since the only other rings Lyn wears aside from Kazuya"s, although she"s turned them to a necklace right now, it won"t be long before she wears it officially. As well as her wedding ring, there is the one she got from the person she met when she was a kid.
By asking her this, it means serving it, her connection and long term attachment to that person. It"s something she won"t do. But he still has to give it a shot. To his surprise, the girl slipped the ring of her finger, replacing it with the one he had just given her.
Lyn sighed, "Honestly, I don"t know what to do when it comes to you."
"You don"t know?"
The girl nodded, and her gaze fell at the ring she just put on. "The two of us are engaged, aren"t we?" Allen nodded, and Lyn looked down, "The relations.h.i.+p between boyfriend and girlfriend, I don"t understand well. But the one between husband and wife seems more complicated to me. Tell me, Allen, what do you want from me?"
Allen froze on the spot, what is this? He didn"t think Lyn would put him on the spot like this. Then again, he"s underestimated his fiancee quite a bit already hasn"t he?
