A girl like her who was raised in a warrior household does not deserve to have a typical love story like ordinary girls. Whether or not she was a commoner or somebody who rose to power. Pupillam always felt that her destiny was set in stone, "Why did you come here?"

"I came here to flirt with you," Amakaze looked towards the other soldiers who were looking over at her curiously. "Since it"s already so late I don"t think it"s a good idea to talk outside. How about we head to my room?"

However, she stared at him with the same indifferent eyes as usual, "What did you want to tell me?"

"Lady Pupillam you should at least have some reaction when someone"s flirting with you."

"Im sure, your flirting skills aren"t of such a minor level," Pupillam stated. If he wanted to, he could have said something cheesy sounding in front of the guards just now. Yet he insisted on taking her away from the others first.

"I guess you must have heard something from somewhere."

"I hear a lot from the aristocrats ladies."

Why they found the need to tell her, even now Pupillam did not understand at all. She was not interested in her fellow female"s pointless gossip; she did not see the need to spend so much time speaking about other people.

"These rumors intrigue me," Amakaze said this with a sly smile on his face, "Do you believe in them?"

Rumors, huh? Pupillam sighed, but before she could get another word out. A frantic looking Kyouya appeared before her.

"Pupillam, you must come quickly,"

"Did something happen to the Princess?"

"No," Kyouya shook his head, "Prince Andrew summons you."

The Prince?

..

-Manor-

"Raise your head."

Pupillam hesitantly did so, "I hear the counts son, the second son sent you a proposal. Your father appears to have declined it, but the choice is yours at the end of the day."

"..."

"What is your response?"

Huh? Did he summon her all the way out here to hear her reply? Pupillam had to admit that she was perplexed. It"s not like him to do something like this, then again sometimes Pupillam wondered if she really knew this man at all.

"I asked him to give me time to think things through, with the Princess current situation. I cannot think about myself."

"You should accept it."

At that comment, her eyes widened, she felt a sharp pain in her heart. "It would be better for me if you did so."

"Your wife..."

"She seemed to have a strange habit of visiting the town often. She heard the stories," Andrew sighed, "While it is already an event of the mere past, she is fretting about it too much."

"I see."

"Accept it, even if it is for show."

Pupillam could only numbly nod her head. What else could she say? What can she say? When it came to whatever she wanted, this person has never considered it. Is this his way of pus.h.i.+ng her away? What an inconsiderate man.

"I shall prepare a small banquet for you tonight, and there you can announce it."

At that comment, the door suddenly opened and in came the Princess.

"Brother! How could you be so unreasonable!!!"

Andrew sighed, "You could at least knock my dear sister."

"If I"m your dear sister, please take back those words you said to Pupillam. How could you do something like this?"

"Gabrielle has complained to you has she not? Surely you understand."

"But that"s exactly why. It"s not like Gabrielle means any harm by voicing out her distress. She just wishes to know where your heart lies. If it lies with Pupillam, she will back down. If it"s with her then..."

"Must I answer this question now?" Andrew seemed very annoyed. "Matters of the Heart are not important now. We have a lot to attend to for tomorrow"s event."

"I know but...you can"t make Pupillam marry somebody she doesn"t like.."

Andrew turned to her, "Do you dislike the young man?"

Dislike? Pupillam didn"t have much of an opinion of him since she hadn"t seen him in so long herself. However, Pupillam recalled the exchange they had earlier the day. He isn"t a bad person that"s for sure.

"I do not dislike him."

Andrew nodded, "You heard your aide, sister."

The Princess frowned and sighed, "Truly troublesome. Very well, but I"m coming tonight too."

"You cannot, your first appearance must be at tomorrow"s event."Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

"But--"

Pupillam quickly interjected, "I shall be okay alone Princess. Please do not worry."

The Princess didn"t say another word and grabbed hold of her hand, pulling her up. She sent another fierce glare to her brother before dragging her away. It was clear that the Princess was anything but happy. Pupillam allowed her to drag her along.

"Princess, I shall be fine."

Lyn sighed, "But, I"m very worried. My brother says he is doing this because of Gabrielle, but I get the feeling that there is more to it than what he says."

"What do you mean?"

"Surely you know what kind of man he is?"

What kind of man...

The Princess reached over and pinched her cheeks, "You"re so hopeless whenever it concerns my eldest brother. Both you and Gabrielle. Geez, what is so good about him anyway?"

"Your eldest brother cares a lot about you; if he"s taking action, it means it has something to do with you."

"That maybe so, but, I don"t want him to destroy peoples lives just for the sake of protecting me. I cannot live at the expense of other people."

Pupillam"s eyes widened at the Princess words, ah... She really does admire this person. No matter how many times she breaks down, no matter how much she is backed to a corner. She still remains so n.o.ble and beautiful in her eyes.

"You do understand my brother well," Lyn took a deep breath before she said, "My eldest brother intends to use your engagement to the count"s son, as an excuse to keep the counts household in line. That is because some of the a.s.sa.s.sins my sister hires are acquainted with one of the count"s sons."

"That"s...we must inform.."

Lyn shook her head, "No, there is no need. This is beneficial for the counts household too. They can use this chance to route out the traitor."

"Princess Lyn, I will do what I can to find out who wish to harm you."

"More than that, even if it is a fake engagement. I want you to dress up tonight; you seldom get the chance to," Lyn clasped their hands together, "Isn"t it a good opportunity?"

"Dress up?" Pupillam repeated.

"Yes!" Lyn beamed happily, "I have just the outfit for you."

"Uh, I don"t think there is any need for you to go through the trouble."
