But, who says they have to restrict themselves to teaching in a book? Lyn refrained herself from saying those words. After all, things are different now; they are no longer like they were before. People nowadays, regardless of whether they belong to the church. All take the words that are written in books very seriously."Princess? What does the book say?"
Lyn snapped out of her daze and continued, "It would have grown enormous, and his larger fangs, larger hands would cause problems for people."
"I see, indeed it might have ended up physically harming somebody."
"If we kept him here, we would have to confine him…" Lyn shuddered at that thought. Confine? Empty walls, no furniture - torn clothes. A cold room filled her memory. Ah, it would have been terrible. Thank goodness the bishop stopped them. If they brought the cub back here, then it would be a disaster. It would suffer more being here than being outside.
Abeno does not get a chance to respond to her when they hear a voice from the doorway, " It is rather chilly, is it not?"
Lyn was still upset with him and looked away. Master didn"t mind and walked over.
"Drink this, it"s also warm," he said, handing them both a cup.
Her companion drinks it right away and murmurs, "The fox cub, will never be able to experience such warmth.."
At that comment, Lyn glanced down at the drink in her hands. "Master, I apologize for speaking out of line. But, I don"t understand your way of thinking. Was that really the right thing to do?"
"What"s right, and what"s wrong. I believe we"ve had a lesson on this already."
"I know."
And they have, how many times has she memorized those teachings? Over and over like she were reciting some kind of spell.
"It happens all the time, Princess. Even those who have power. They will ignore a person dying in front of them."
"Live how you must live and die as fate decrees right? … it was probably that fox club"s fate to die as he did. But he came to the monastery. That"s right, out of all the places it could have gone to. It came here, out of all the places. Isn"t that fate?" Yet the old man said nothing, and she feels the tears falling down from her eyes, "I don"t understand teacher."
He reached over and patted her head, "A while ago I received word that the war at the border is ending. "She wiped her tears away then, "The Mist Kingdom has moved to reclaim a front on the border. No matter how they decide to advance, the outcome is..."
In other words, her eldest brother has already won. When eldest brother dropped her here to the monastery two years back, he told her he would return in a year, but two years have pa.s.sed. It turned out that a terrible war was brewing and he didn"t want her in the castle. While Junlan church is also a part of Mist Kingdom lands, it"s located in the mountains and between another area. If anybody attacks - they"d risk offending the other property too.
….
"Say, Mister," Lyn called out. "Why do you hang out here every day? Shouldn"t you go back home?"
"Easy there, I"m still recovering," Arthur sighed. "Wounds like this won"t recover within a day; I"ll be here for two months at most."
So he"s staying for a while. Lyn was slightly relieved. Lately, she was getting bored. Initially, when she came here, she found everything interesting. But after a certain amount of time pa.s.sed, repeating the same thing every day, Lyn quickly became bored.
"Mister, are you a knight?"
"I"m a Prince."
Lyn looked at him, suspiciously, "A Prince?" He certainly doesn"t dress like one. Though he was no longer wearing the blood-stained clothes from yesterday,
Arthur laughed, "Well, I do understand where you"re coming from, kid. But you shouldn"t judge someone based on appearance."
"I"m sorry, I didn"t mean it that way," Lyn trailed off. "I just, I"m a bit bored here, to be honest."
At that comment, Arthur burst into a fit of laughter, "You are an honest child."
Lyn looked away, embarra.s.sed.
"Child, there are a few books in my bag. They are quite long, and the text is quite small. But you may like them."
More books - but she didn"t dislike reading. While some of the books here have questionable means. Lyn liked to learn. She liked that the books here didn"t censor anything. She liked that here she could obtain knowledge from books without knowing that the books were tampered with. But even then Lyn understood that some of the books in Junlan church are outdated. This might be the reason why her family sent her here of all places.
Lyn reached out for his bag, and she immediately dropped. "Gahh! Why is it so heavy?" Lyn didn"t notice how huge the rucksack was on that day. But now that she saw it up close, it is fairly large.
Arthur laughed, "Don"t try to bring it all over. You"ll break your arms. Just take a few books out."
Lyn nodded and slowly unb.u.t.toned the bag. She pulled out the nearest book, a large worn-out brown book.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
"Ah, that"s a good one."
"It is?" Lyn was staring at the large book, half curious and half wondering.
"It"s about magic," Arthur trailed off. "Are you here to get your magic determined, or are you a commoner?"
Lyn hesitated. If she tells him that yes she is here to learn magic, then he would learn that she is a n.o.ble. No doubt that when he recovers, he will try to learn about her. Or he may accidentally tell somebody about her. It"s too risky if he says anything, it would be bad for her.
"I"m a commoner," Lyn replied. It felt strange saying those words. Even though she"s a hidden Princess. A Princess in name only, it still felt peculiar of her to call herself a commoner.

"A commoner with hands that show no signs of labor?" Arthur looked amused at the girl who was busy studying the book with great focus. What a foolish child. He doesn"t know which n.o.ble house she belongs to, but it seems like she"s gone through a lot. Despite his hazard vision then, when he first met this child, he saw it. A proud and n.o.ble look in her eyes. Such strength and intensity.
He reached over and wrapped a blanket around her. "You"ll catch a cold. It"s chilly in this room."
"Thank you very much, mister."
