Chapter 1460: He wants to see all her expressions his entire life.
“You should give Qu Jingwan a call.” Pei Ge looked at him with her beautiful eyes. The slight smile on her lips did not escape his eyes.
Ji Ziming bent over and gave the woman a ravis.h.i.+ng kiss.
“You’re jealous.”
“No, I’m not. Quite the opposite, actually. I’m supportive of you calling her.” The woman was blus.h.i.+ng by the time he let go of her mouth; she felt uncomfortable with the bandage around her leg so she moved to unwrap it.
The man watched her carefully remove the bandage. Her slender and fair calf looked enticing in his eyes.
“I’m about to give another woman a call; don’t you feel jealous at all?”
His dark eyes narrowed as he exuded a chilling aura, but the other party did not change her stance.
“Why should I be?”
The man was closed to pus.h.i.+ng her hands up and pinning her down the bed as he interrogated her on whether she loved him or not.
What was wrong with this woman? Most women did not wish for their men to show even the slightest bit of interest in other ladies. They would even grill them over a call or a message from other ladies, but this was not the case for Pei Ge.
“Since auntie won’t be coming from tomorrow onward, let’s go to the police station and visit Hong Qiang again.”
“Isn’t it too early to go there for another visit?” Ji Ziming quickly regained his rationality. His woman was smart enough to believe him, so why should he be jealous of others? He even crushed his strongest compet.i.tor under his feet, so who else could he be afraid of?
“No. I have a hunch that that guy will finally give us a clue.”
Once she was done removing the bandage, Pei Ge lifted her head, and when she saw that his eyes were on her leg, she pulled a thin blanket from the side to cover it. “Let’s go see the girl later.”
“Alright.” Seeing that the woman had covered her leg with the blanket, the man sat in a chair and calmed down. “Do you think that that person has a connection to your father’s death back then?”
The woman’s eyes turned to look into the distance. She was unable to find the mastermind behind her father’s death and only nearly died from her attempt of doing so.
“I don’t know if that person has a connection to it, but there’s a possibility of the two cases being linked.”
“You think so, too?”
“Mhm. Whether they are or not, we’ll have to wait till we meet Hong Qiang tomorrow before knowing.”
“After lunch, I’ll accompany you to visit that guy’s daughter.”
“Okay.”
When the two arrived at Niu Niu’s ward, Du Chunlan was feeding her. Upon seeing them, the girl smiled. “Mommy, our benefactors are here.”
Her mother turned around and saw the couple. She hurriedly stood up and asked, “Sir, ma’am, what brought you two here?”
“Please sit down and continue feeding your daughter. We happened to be pa.s.sing by, so we came in to have a look.” Pei Ge checked the dishes in the rice box.
Patients with heart disease ought not to eat much meat or oily food. Meanwhile, the rice box before her contained two dishes and a soup. All were nutritious and tasty enough. She could even smell the food’s fragrance the moment she entered the room.
“Have you two eaten?” The woman resumed feeding her daughter as she turned to ask the visitors.
“We’ve eaten already. Actually, we came out to digest the food, as well as to look at your daughter. Right, Ziming?” Pei Ge nudged the man, whose icy face finally had a smile at that moment. “Mhm.”
“You should stop smiling. Your forced smile looks uglier than your crying face.” She tugged at his sleeve lightly.
All of a sudden, the man’s handsome features contorted.
“Sir, ma’am, thank you! I’m really thankful to the both of you.”
The man was near to being immune to the girl’s mother’s words. Whenever they came here for a visit, this woman would always thank them.
Pei Ge shook her head. “Stop staying that. If you keep saying that, I will feel that our hospital isn’t up to standards.”
“No, no. How’s that possible? The food here is very good; it’s even better than what we eat at home.”
Du Chunlan hastily shook her head. Truthfully, there was not a day when her life was good, so she was very grateful to this lady from the bottom of her heart.
“That’s great.” The other nodded and smiled.
The hospital was famous for having excellent food, especially those staying in VIP wards as top nutritionists would prepare diets specific to them.
After leaving the girl’s ward, the couple held hands all the way to the carpark. As they pa.s.sed by the nurse station, the nurses gazed at the man with smitten eyes. He was used to this, so he did not care about it, but the woman would always use this chance to tease him.
“You seem to be loved by women.”
Who says my little woman doesn’t get jealous?
Ji Ziming inched closer to Pei Ge, and the fragrance on him shocked her. She thought that he wanted to kiss him but soon realized that he was putting on the seatbelt for her.
“Put on your seatbelt properly; don’t let it fly out.”
Her awkwardness was captured by him. His deep-set eyes stared at her slightly closed eyelids and parted lips, as though waiting for his, before her eyes flew open again with a look of embarra.s.sment.
He wanted to look at all her expressions during his entire life.
“Oh.” Pei Ge lowered her head and nodded, but her cheeks and neck were aflamed.
D*mn it! This man looks cold, yet he actually teases me often!.
Stopping the car at the entrance to the police station, Zhao Jingcheng timely appeared as though he had been waiting for them. The moment he saw Ji Ziming’s car, he told a nearby subordinate, “Later, just drive Young Master Ji”s car straight to the courtyard.”
“We don’t have to park it at the carpark?”
“What nonsense? Just park it next to mine, and that’ll do.”
The junior police officer perplexedly watched the young master stop the car right in front of him; in the next instant, Zhao Jingcheng threw the car keys at him. He quickly caught them and accurately parked the car beside his superior’s.
Pei Ge entered the interrogation room with a touch of familiarity. The brilliance in Hong Qiang’s eyes glinted with the door’s opening.
“Miss Pei, you are here.”
She nodded and sat down on the seat opposite his.
“I’m here to tell you about your daughter’s present condition.”
“Sorry. I learned that you and Mr. Ji waived my daughter’s medical and hospitalization fees.”
Hong Qiang lowered his head and pursed his lips as his hands rubbed helplessly against each other on the table. He appeared uneasy as he said, “It isn’t that I don’t wanna tell you who paid me to make a fake confession; I just truly don’t have an idea on who the person is.”
