Chapter 1607: You are the CEO’s wife.
Sitting on the car hood, Qu Xiujie noticed a Lincoln driving not far away. While he did not see who was the one beside Pei Ge, he still recognized the car’s plate number. The only one who could enjoy such wealth and status in the capital was Ji Ziming.
That meant that the woman was his wife, who was also the ‘third party’ that Qu Jingwan was stressing about.
He did not find the need before, but now it seemed that he had to learn more about Pei Ge’s background.
The 300,000-yuan that he was about to get his hands on, he would use it to hire a private investigator.
Back in the Ji mansion, the man opened the door to let his woman and children alight. Auntie Zhang had been waiting at the entrance for them. When she saw the Lincoln parking in front, she ran forward. “Sir’s wife, you and the young master are finally back!”
“What’s wrong? Did something happen at home while we weren’t here?”
Pei Ge smiled, unable to understand what could possibly happen to the family while they were away.
“Madam, you have no idea how infuriating Miss Qu is. She was so bossy with us when none of you were around. I won’t say anything else since I am already old and will die soon.”
The older woman started complaining about Qu Jingwan’s brazen actions which made her uncomfortable.
Upon hearing her complaints, Pei Ge realized that the lady had become a threat to her family. It was evening now, so according to the company’s work hours, that lady should be back home by now.
“Don’t call me as your master’s wife next time. Just call me Pei Ge since he and I haven’t…”
She felt awkward despite knowing that this auntie here had addressed her as such out of goodwill. Though she should simply follow her wishes, it still made her uncomfortable to be called that.
“I don’t care; you’re my young master’s wife. He treats you so well, and the little masters and mistress are so adorable. I’ve long regarded you as this family’s daughter-in-law.”
Auntie Zhang did not relent. After all, this woman was much better than Qu Jingwan.
Pei Ge did not insist further and merely said a few words before heading up to unpack her luggage. She then went to the living room on the first floor.
The old cook prepared dinner, while Ji Ziming sat at the dining table, slicing steak for the children. By the time Pei Ge got to the dining table, the man had already cut a steak for her and placed the slices on her plate nicely. Seeing her coming over, his charismatic voice sounded. “You’re here.”
“Mhm.”
She sat down.
Not long after dinner had started, Qu Jingwan, in a drunken state, was supported by the chauffeur into the mansion. Sitting at the dining table, the man shot the drunk lady a disgusted look.
“Miss Qu, looks like you’re in a good mood. Do you treat my family’s mansion as a hotel where you can come and go as you wish?”
“Hm? Ziming?”
The lady heard his voice and looked up. She saw him at the dining table in her blurry vision, then blinked several times. In the end, she was still unwilling to believe her eyes. “How’s it possible? Ziming is messing around in the US with Pei Ge, that sl*t; how could he be here?”
“Sir, you’re back.”
The chauffeur, who was supporting Qu Jingwan, greeted politely while standing on the same spot. Looking at the happy couple, this lady next to him appeared like an outsider.
“What? Sir? Could it really be Ji Ziming?”
She staggered toward the man, her breath, which smelled strongly of alcohol fanned, reaching his nose. His face was stern to begin with, and when she came over, his face darkened further.
“Bring her to her room.”
His deep voice sounded terrifying.
Upon hearing his order, Auntie Zhang and the driver quickly supported the missy back to her room.
“Ziming, earlier, you…”
Pei Ge hesitated, and seeing the three children blinking their wide eyes, she could no longer form her words.
“Let’s eat; I’ll tell you something after dinner.”
He looked a bit distant as he shot her a look. “Eat well and I’ll settle her issue.”
“Daddy, will you be kicking Auntie Jingwan out?”
Ran Ran picked up a slice of steak with her fork as she looked at her father, her voice trembling with fear and trepidation.
Shooting a look at Ji Chi, his voice became gentler.
“I won’t chase her out.”
“Oh, really?”
The girl blinked at him as she waited for his guarantee once more.
“Hey, after having dinner, I will bring you to shower and rest, alright?”
Pei Ge interjected to prevent her daughter from asking more.
“Okay!”
Her daughter nodded and tilted her head as she thought of something. “Mommy, can I call grandma tonight?”
“Sure, but you have to finish your dinner and not waste food.”
She answered with a smile.
Auntie Zhang knew the children’s appet.i.te well enough and always served them the right amount.
“Yay! Can I let grandma look at my room?”
“Of course, you can,” replied Pei Ge while feeling heartened.
“That’s amazing; I have lots to say to grandma to make her miss me.”
The girl picked up her fork as she immersed herself in the wonder of being able to speak to her grandmother.
The old cook brought the children upstairs after dinner, while the couple sat facing each other in the living room. “What do you plan to do with Qu Jingwan?”
“Wait till the right time and have her go home.”
She gave it a careful thought. She could handle Ji Chi now, for they had managed to restore their original relations.h.i.+p. As long as she guided him well, she believed that he would remember her soon.
“When is the right time?”
Ji Ziming crossed his arms, the coldness in his eyes terrifying.
The woman could not say for sure because she was still afraid that her son would be reliant on that lady. She had yet to replace Qu Jingwan in his heart fully.
“Let’s wait a while more. She’s merely gotten drunk; wait till she’s awake, and I’ll have a good chat with her.”
