Chapter 1612: I will settle it as it goes.
“I’m looking at you.”
She chuckled. It seemed that, as long as he appeared in front of her, all the issues would no longer be so.
“Silly, am I not here?”
He raised his hand and caressed her hair in a gentle and affectionate manner.
“Are you going to cry if I don’t come back?”
A hint of amus.e.m.e.nt was heard in his voice.
“I…”
“Alright, say no more. I know all about it. Let’s go up and I’ll tell you everything you wanna know.”
He held her hand and they headed upstairs.
The sources of facts all pointed to one person, and that individual had close ties to Qu Jingwan. Meanwhile, the lady in question was currently in Ji Group, trying to learn all the reports in her job.
“Manager w.a.n.g, have you seen this report yet? It covers all real-estate data for the past quarter. It even encompa.s.ses highly confidential information.”
Her outfit remained trendy, and with her red lips, she looked like a shy beauty. Looking at her, the manager broke out in a cold sweat. Why did I agree to letting this missy stay by my side?
This was clearly poison—she was a sugar-coated poison.
“Alright, place the report here and I’ll look at it later.”
As he was busy with work on his end, he did not have the time to see the quarterly report Qu Jingwan had taken two days to complete. The report might be okay, but since it was completed by her, he had to pay extra attention.
Seeing that he could not even bother to read the report, the lady’s face was filled with rage and widened her eyes. She, however, quickly pretended to be docile again.
“Since you have no time to read, I’ll let the general manager do so.”
She thought she could threaten him with this but did not expect that compared to the general manager, this guy was much nicer.
“There’s no value in your report for we’re already aware of 90% of the data. Since we’re already aware of it, why is there a need for you to do a summary?”
Ellie directly criticized her report.
She felt very awkward standing before this female manager; coincidentally, the male manager knocked on Ellie’s door to bring a stack of folders in. He did not feel awkward when he saw her inside and smiled, instead. “Xiao Qu, you’re here, too.”
She really hated that there was nothing for her to vent her anger on to avoid hitting this manager.
The one who had told her to do the quarterly report was him, and he also did not object to her bringing it to the general manager. It seemed that he was waiting for her to make a joke out of herself for entering the Ji Group through the back door.
Only then did she realize that the person who wanted to kick her out was not Pei Ge but Ji Ziming, instead.
“Manager w.a.n.g, since you’re here, you and the general manager can speak, while I’ll take my leave first.”
During her stay with the Ji family, she had learned to endure and pretend to be harmless before eventually defeating the people who had dared boss her around.
“Alright, head out first.”
Ellie looked at the missy, whose almond-shaped eyes and red lips made her beautiful; she had not liked her ever since the day the latter entered the company.
“General manager, her report earlier…”
The man hinted at something, and she knew what it was.
“You gave her that data?”
“No wonder you’re the general manager; you could figure out something like that.”
She merely sneered at him, unsurprised by his fawning act. “If you can change the way you fawn at me, you may go further in the company.”
“I’m just like this; I’m already very satisfied with the CEO’s recognition.”
He laughed before continuing. “I’m unlike you. You’re a strong, independent woman, while I already have a family to take care of.”
“Alright. We are at our workplace; it’s better if we keep the discussion purely work-related.”
She was well-known as a strong career woman in the company. Although she was a beauty, few men were willing to test her limits. Thus far, there were no men around her, and even if there was, it would be Ji Ziming. As long as he came to the office, she would have an endless amount of energy and would spend every second with him.
When Qu Jingwan went back to her desk, she became increasingly angry with Ellie’s att.i.tude. She waited until n.o.body was around before running to the washroom and calling her grandmother.
“Grandma, what should I do? I’m like a circus monkey in this company; especially the general manager, she seems to detest me in every possible way.”
While on the call, she kept on the lookout for people coming to the washroom, but they were not from her team, so she gradually let her guard down.
“Don’t you have a way to deal with that woman?”
Old Lady Qu sat on the sofa as she slowly sipped her coffee. The velvety sweetness spread from her throat to her heart. If her granddaughter had not called to disrupt her mood, she was prepared to tip the waiter a hefty sum.
“Grandma, that woman is called Ellie. Don’t you know her? You even tried poaching her to Qu Company back then.”
Qu Jingwan treaded carefully and dared not speak too loudly.
Ellie?
The elderly woman closed her eyes. At her granddaughter’s reminder, she recalled that there was indeed a capable woman in Ji Group. Back then, she offered Ellie five times higher salary, but it failed to attract her; now, that woman wanted to obstruct her plan.
“I get it. Don’t worry anymore and I’ll settle it as it goes.”
Her face darkened as she exuded a vicious aura. Her dark purple lips were frosty, and if she were not the coffee shop’s regular patron, the waiters would not dare speak to her.
“Elderly madam, do you want me to refill your coffee?”
The waiter was a handsome, young man with fair skin and long legs. His voice was exceptionally soothing to the ears, too.
“No need.”
She stood up as she shot the waiter a glance with a raised brow.
