Chapter 1662: My wife will come with me, too.
Just as Old Lady Qu was leaving, she looked in Qu Xiujie’s direction and said with a hint of ruthlessness, “When you’ve recovered, I’ll go bring you home. Let’s not create trouble for Young Master Ji.”
The man did not respond at all.
“Take care.”
Ji Ziming sat in the chair and looked at the elderly lady who seemed as though she could not bear to leave. The corner of his lips arched frostily as he maintained his eyes on her.
“My thanks to the two of you for taking care of our Xiujie.”
She looked at the young chap, then at Pei Ge, and her eyes darkened.
If even the normal people in the ward could sense the hostility in her, Ji Ziming could of course as well.
Once the elderly woman was gone, Pei Ge asked, “Seeing the three of us together, she’s probably going to take action.”
“It’s already started.”
His eyes s.h.i.+fted from the door to the bed as his voice deepened. “Mr. Xiujie, are you still not intending to leave with me?”
“How do you know that it’s started?”
She had no idea where the man got this idea.
“She wasn’t here to visit this old fella but to see us, instead. To be more precise, she was here to see you.”
His lips curled. He had an inkling on how to tackle this matter.
“Me?”
Pei Ge’s beautiful eyes turned puzzled as she pointed at herself with furrowed brows. “Me and her?”
“Ge Ge, don’t worry. With me around, you don’t have to care about anything and just have to follow me.”
Ji Ziming patted her silky-smooth and tender hand.
“Mhm.”
She did not continue asking but merely pursed her lips at him.
“This pair of lovebirds, if you continue to act lovey-dovey, I’ll die.”
Qu Xiujie shot Ji Ziming a look, rolling his eyes at the couple’s display of affection before his eyes; he was less uptight about Pei Ge.
Last night, the person who had come to the hospital was not Old Lady Qu’s subordinate but a private investigator whom he hired. He just did not expect Ji Ziming’s bodyguards to be so capable that they would not even let the detective disguised as a cleaning lady enter his ward.
Fortunately, there was a drone outside his window and the thing hanging on it shocked Qu Xiujie.
It turned out that all the meetings were not coincidence but fate. He and Pei Ge were fated to meet again.
Ji Ziming waved his hand and embraced Pei Ge tightly. This made the middle-aged man envious.
“Mr. Qu, take a good look. This is my wife, so don’t be disrespectful to her anymore; otherwise, I have ways to deal with you.”
“I’m afraid that you won’t be able to deal with me next time.”
He knew a secret that would cause Pei Ge to turn pale from fright and would change all of Ji Ziming’s original intentions.
“Oh? You are that confident?”
The younger man refused to believe it. According to the intel he had, other than seeking his protection, this middle-aged fella had no ways.
“Then, we can try.”
Qu Xiujie was not fearful of the coldness on Ji Ziming’s face. As long as it was for the good of this chap’s woman, he could give up everything he owned, including all that he got from the Qu family. As long as she needed it, he could even give himself up.
This came a bit too late, but thankfully, he met her.
“You are getting more interesting.” Ji Ziming’s shrewd eyes narrowed at the person on the bed. While he could see through Qu Xiujie’s heart before, this time, he was unable to.
Qu Xiujie restrained his flamboyance and looked at the chap before him seriously. If this had been their first meeting, the latter might be fooled by the former’s solemn expression.
“Is it bad to have an interesting soul?”
Qu Xiujie laughed as he found that the couple suited each other extremely well.
“Since you’re so interesting, why don’t you go see that old woman off? She is after all your family.”
Ji Ziming’s eyes brightened. As long as Qu Xiujie dared to leave this ward, he had reasons to believe that this fella had another road of retreat.
“Forget it; it’s better that I stay here.”
The latter was once again his flamboyance self.
“It seems that you don’t wish to leave. If that’s the case, just continue staying in this ward. My bodyguards will pack your stuff for you, and when we head to the hillside mansion, I’ll follow as well.”
Ji Ziming looked expressionless, but Qu Xiujie still shuddered upon hearing his words. “You want to head there with me?”
“That’s right. Can’t I go to my own mansion?”
The man stood up. With his tall height, he towered over the other.
“Of course, you can. I thought you wanted your wife to follow me.”
Since he was certain of his intel, Qu Xiujie looked at the man, who had anger building up in his eyes.
“My wife will come with me, too.”
He was bound to be disappointed, though, for Ji Ziming was not angry and even responded calmly, instead.
“So good?”
Qu Xiujie was slightly taken aback. This was unlike the man, who was a crazy wife-protector.
Before he could look more deeply, he was brought to the hillside mansion.
Old Ji had this constructed when Ji Ziming was still young. Designed by a top French architect, it took the longest time to complete out of all their family properties, for many details had gone into this place which was a favorite of his son.
There was not only this mansion on the hillside for one was a lonely sight to behold by Old Ji’s definition.
Now it seemed that Old Ji was truly farsighted. Ji Ziming had to be impressed by his father’s insight.
“Young Master Ji, this mansion isn’t so bad. It’s much more beautiful than the big one you have.”
Qu Xiujie stood at the entrance and looked at the lion stone statues at the entrance of the mansion. This place looked more like a palace.
“Let’s go in.”
