Chapter 1709: That is merely a pair of shoes.
Ji Ziming shot a glance at Xu Huihui and the intern beside him. His frosty aura could be felt in full force, and it made the intern s.h.i.+ver in this cold morning. His gaze was especially terrifying for the intern.
“Sir, I didn’t do it on purpose.”
The intern hurriedly dipped her head. Even though she had no idea if the man was looking at her, she dipped her head instinctively as she did not want to lose her job.
It was well-known that it was challenging to join the Ji Group, and she managed to outperform thousands of other candidates to clinch one of the ten spots. However, it was not her wish to be a.s.signed to this clothing store.
Just like what Xu Huihui had said, she graduated from a well-known university but could only be stuck in this clothing store. All she did every day was prepare outfit matchings for the couple’s event attendances.
The job seemed mundane but being able to meet Ji Ziming made her not dwell on it as long as she could get closer to him.
“Don’t speak. If I don’t ask you, then don’t speak.”
Looking at Xu Huihui right before him, he spoke to the intern.
“Yes.”
The intern lowered her head further, but before she could make sense of what he had said, she heard Xu Huihui kneel down with tears flowing down her eyes. “Sir, I know my mistake, and I’ll change; I really won’t do this again.”
“Let this intern become the store manager.”
His voice was cold; other than Pei Ge, the rest could not recover from the shock. Instead, Xu Huihui was the first to react to it.
She became this store’s manager after much difficulty, so how could she be fired given such a simple reason? It was impossible and not allowed!
“What’s the point of crying now?”
Ji Ziming smiled wryly; his frosty aura dissipated instantly. In place of it was a terrifyingly grim smile. He was like a demon who had come from h.e.l.l. Every look and sneer had the effect of frightening the people around him.
“Sir, I truly know that it’s my fault, but even if you want to fire me, you shouldn’t get this intern to become the store manager. She’s just joined us. You have to reconsider!”
Xu Huihui had already resigned to her fate as there was n.o.body else who commanded more authority than this man in the capital. There was no way of him going back on what he had just said.
“Then, let me ask you: What should and should not be done? Why don’t you tell me?”
His smile widened as he looked at Xu Huihui who was kneeling on the ground. His eyes, which seemed to be feeding on blood, were terrifying.
“Sir, I…”
Xu Huihui was speechless for a moment. She could not think of better words to respond to him and merely knelt on the floor in tears.
“What’s wrong? Are you at a loss for words? Why don’t you let me help you?”
Ji Ziming’s frosty aura intensified, and before Pei Ge could react to it, that intern, who was standing beside him, knelt down as well. “Sir, it’s all my fault for not meeting the store manager’s expectations. Please take back what you’ve said, and I’ll work harder next time.”
Pei Ge did not say anything and merely looked at the intern and Xu Huihui. Despite having disdain for the store manager initially, she seemed to understand her efforts.
“Oh? Even you’re pleading on her behalf?”
The man’s voice was icy. He sat in the chair with shoes and clothing bags and boxes arranged orderly behind him. The expensive fur belonging to the Sun Group was placed on the sofa like a clown waiting for its judgment.
“It’s not like this, sir. You’ve actually misunderstood the store manager. She is a very nice person and always cares for the feelings of other sisters in the store. In our store, there is n.o.body else who is more suitable as the store manager.”
The intern said in a serious manner but did not notice the smile that flashed across the man’s eyes.
“That said, you don’t mind that she scolded you earlier?”
“I don’t mind; I really don’t mind.”
The intern was shaking her head anxiously like a rattle drum. She was afraid that she or Xu Huihui would lose their jobs in this bustling city, which they depended heavily on, simply because of his words.
“Fine. Since you’re pleading on behalf of her, this store manager looks pretty interesting now. If that’s the case, I won’t say more. Just do what you guys want. Store manager, have you prepared the item that I want?”
Ji Ziming smiled, his icy aura vanis.h.i.+ng into thin air.
“It’s been prepared; it’s been prepared. I’ll go bring it to you now.”
Upon hearing that the man was going to let her off, Xu Huihui, feeling relieved, walked to the counter and retrieved a blue folder from the bottom drawer. The folder contained all the details of the intern who had delivered the clothes to Pei Ge.
All of a sudden, Xu Huihui was baffled. The man could have gotten any of his subordinates to gather information about the deceased intern, but why did he make her do it on her own?
This seriously was not his style of doing things.
“Sure, I’ll take the item. You’re still in charge of the store, and also the shoes are placed in the wrong spot. Those are leather shoes imported from Italy, so they should be placed beside that item.”
He pointed to a pair of expensive men’s leather shoes on the shelf. He usually wore them and was familiar with them.
“But the prices of the shoes…”
Xu Huihui was placed in a spot. On the spot at the side was a pair of imported shoes worth merely tens of thousands yuan. It paled in comparison to that pair of handmade Italian leather shoes.
“Why? Must we put it in a more prominent place to show the shoes’ value and whereabouts?”
Something more was implied than what he had said. Xu Huihui, who had been socializing with others for many years, understood what he meant. She quickly nodded and did according to his instructions.
“Sir, I’ll go change the positions around. You’re right there’s nothing absolute in this world.”
There was nothing that absolutely had to belong to one’s self.
This was what Xu Huihui thought internally just like how Ji Ziming nearly had stripped her of her position.
“Alright. Go then. Remember that spot I mentioned. It’s merely a pair of shoes.”
Ji Ziming snorted and looked at the intern who was still kneeling on the ground.
