Wednesday, 10th May 1995Approximately around 7:00 am.
I was rudely awakened by a simultaneous ringing of different type of alarms through mobile phones and desktop clocks. I sat up on my bunk bed and touched my face. it was wet and the pillow that I had slept on was slightly damp with my tears.
Well, snot seemed to have managed to cover part of my face when I was crying incessantly as I vividly remember the soft lithe body against me, her warmth slow dissipating through the gaps of my fingers, as I cried and looked up in heavens to tell G.o.d that it was unfair and I wanted G.o.d to return the soul back in the lifeless body.
I let out a long sigh as I slowly kicked the blanket off around my feet and swing my legs over the side of the bed. I silenced my alarm and briskly prepared myself to freshen up before meeting Akira to school.
The hot showers that sprinkled down from the showerhead comforted me a little as I let the water dripped down from my head right down to my feet. Somehow, the hot shower in the cold and musty morning managed to uplift my spirits as I thought that this Quantum Leap has got nothing to do with emotions.
Even though I felt deep remorse for being unable to avoid the chain of events at the end of the last Leap, I knew that the system that governed the Quantum Leap has got to do with my own destiny and survival. As long as I am alive and had changed history somewhat, I would make the Leap unless I carelessly injure or kill myself. That would spell the end of the Leap, I reckon.
I waited for Akira in front of the dormitory main door and squatted near the fire hydrant. I took out my Docomo phone and sent an SMS to her stating I am already waiting outside her door. A few short moments later, she emerged and greeted me.
"Eeeehhh...Shiro...Why your eyes so puffy like a goldfish...? Are you having some kind of sore eyes coz there"s some redness...Ara ma...How you gonna be in school later...?"
"Huh...? My eyes are puffy...? Ohh... Yesterday someone in my dorm was snoring loudly like a broken violin and kept me awake nearly the whole night and morning...And today some shampoo happened to enter my eyes and caused some irritation, that"s all. I will go to the Infirmary to get an eye bath...Don"t worry Ka...Akira...!"
d.a.m.n...! I nearly blurted out Kagome"s name and I managed to cover it up soon enough. Akira looked up at me and said the most unantic.i.p.ated and bombastic answer I had never thought that would come out of her...
"You can call me Kagome, instead of Akira, if you wish, Shiro..."
I NEARLY HAD A HEART ATTACK ON HEARING THESE WORDS...!!!
"Naniiii...!!! Jōdan o iwanaide...!!!"
I held both of Akira"s shoulders and spun her around to face me. She was taken aback at what I had done to her because she had never expected and never had been handled in that manner before!! A sudden look of surprise and fear flashed across her face and eyes.
I held out a forefinger and gently touched the soft bags under the eyes and asked what she has to say about the puffy dark eyes circles around both eyes that almost made her look like a panda.
I expertly manoeuvred the words that Akira mentioned on calling her Kagome instead and diverted it into another question of my concern towards her. She avoided my gaze and looked down at her feet that were almost touching mine.
"A...Ahhh...I stayed up all night reading the paperback you had bought for me. The paperback is with me in the bag and Intend to read it during the break...You don"t mind, do you...? I cannot put down the book when I started to turn the pages to read...and I re-read the pages again to understand the story very well..."
She answered in her meek voice and as if she had done an irreversible mistake and had half expected a slap coming towards her. But instead a hand reached out and tapped her head and a hand touched her chin and brought her face upward.
I told her that I had advised against her reading in the dark or using her mobile-phone light to illuminate to read some materials. Now she looked like a panda, I said and slowly chuckled. I patted gently on her head and slid my hand down her back before resting lightly on her b.u.t.t. And I gently pinched her b.u.t.t through her short skirt and I muttered the word "Muuuaaakkkk".
" Hoshi-sama...!!! How dare you...!?!" I heard a familiar voice screaming at my direction from the rear and immediately turned around; and saw Sango-Chan raised her Hiraikotsu and slammed it hard of Hoshi-sama"s head..."Kaabbooiiinnngggg..." and "tweet...tweet...tweet..." the little birds were encircling the large b.u.mp that road from Hoshi-sama"s head...!!! So it was Hoshi-sama"s doing and not me...
Director...there is something wrong with the script again...!
Kagome"s...*ahem* I mean Akira"s face lit up and brushed on both sides of her cheeks. She can not describe the feelings at the moment whether she regarded as she had been groped or just a mischievous prank on Shiro"s part. However, Akira seemed to enjoy it...
All I can say right now but that I had pinched earlier felt firm and nice...
We boarded the train and alighted at Ozone Station and walked to school. Around Shindeki Park, there were some Town Council workers in overalls and yellow hardhats were unloading some 8 meters long metal posts from the back of a truck. They had dried a hole on the ground and had erected the 8-meter metal poles before pouring cement into it to make it st.u.r.dy.

There was a small pulley on the post and soon the workers set up a banner in between each metal posts. The banner mention "No erection of notices and boards without the permission of the Town Council."
How ironic to put up such atrocious banner to state such an announcement. Hmm, I wonder what the Director was thinking at this time at all.
We reached the school and I accompanied Akira at the school"s canteen. I bought 2 hot drinks while she plopped down on to the canteen"s chair and took out her paper book novel. I can"t help to notice her reading the book for a few pages and then turned back and re-read them.
It was as though she was having some difficulties on comprehensive the words and when I asked her, she said she re-read because she doesn"t under some of the contexts well and re-read them to understand it better.
It was 8:30 am when she finally closed the book and inserted a bookmark she had made using pieces of the wrapping paper as origami and shaped it like a palm-sized heart. She gestures to me to get back to our respective cla.s.s and bowed slightly to me and thanked me.
I held up my right hand and shaped it like a beak of a bird, and made some biting movement at the same time I said "Muuaakk...! Muuuaaakkkk...!! Muuuaaakkkk...!!!"
She looked at me in horror and ran back to her cla.s.s in such a comical way with bowlegs and arms flailing on the air shrieking as if a Youkai was chasing her from behind...
If someone was to make, a cartoon strip there would be some explanation and question marks...hahaha.
