Chapter 40 – Sick (5)

… … …

Su Xin"s relations.h.i.+p experience could be said to be a blank s.p.a.ce. After all, to tolerate the job, she devoted her life to an a.s.sa.s.sin"s training only which refrained her from being emotionally sensitive.

After being able to work, Su Xin"s career doomed to make her alone and not very intimate with others, except Qiu Qingqing, who was in the same profession as her. Qiu Qingqing understood her like no one else.

No emotional experience was the contributor for Su Xin"s current low EQ.

Su Xin really thought that it was no big deal. She felt that this incident tonight was entirely cla.s.sified as mutual consent between both parties. A one-night stand. There"s no complicated story or drama.

With that being the case, she was not overly thoughtless as one might think. She was aware that the act was sacred to most people, an enactment of their strong feelings. This explains why she hesitated to do it at first.

Also for her, it was wrong to do it with just anyone. One must feel positive about their partner. She had felt something for Qu Feiqing and this was what prompted her to continue.

Su Xin was a little dizzy and went back to her palace. She was cold all over and there was a steady, dull pain in her stomach.

[Host, you are sick.]

I know.

Too tired to take a bath, she took off her clothes and huddled on her bed, unmindful of her obscene appearance. Besides, only she and Shu Juan could enter her room so she didn"t have to worry about giving a sight to others. Thick layers of quilt covered her but she still felt cold. Quivering, she slowly fell into a deep sleep.

Because there"s nothing to do in the palace, Su Xin had made a routine of sleeping and waking up at dawn.

Seeing her master still sleeping under the quilt even at midday, Shu Juan who came in, thought this was very unusual.

“Young lady, can"t you rise?”

“Tired.” Su Xin said in a sullen voice, covering herself with the quilt even more

Su Xin felt that her body was as heavy as a lead, she was hurting at many places and it was very hard to open her eyes.

“Then Young lady should sleep a little longer.” Shu Juan dismissed her suspicions. She also thought that Su Xin was just sleepy. She placed down the was.h.i.+ng basin and closed the door.

[Host, you have a fever. ]

Su Xin did not respond to it and went on sleeping for a very a long time1.

Qu Feiqing came to see Su Xin after their awkward parting in the early morning. She really didn"t want to come, because Su Xin had made it clear that what transpired between them was nothing to her, but her reaction said otherwise.

It bothered Qu Feiqing tremendously. In fact, it kept her up all night, playing the same scenario in her mind all over again. To pacify her misgivings, she followed her instincts and sought for Su Xin.

When she arrived, she saw Su Xin"s servant, Shu Juan. The girl was just about to leave her master"s room and she was carefully closing the door, trying not to make a sound.

When their eyes met, she quickly lowered herself in a respectful bow.

“This servant pays respects to Your Majesty. The Young lady is still asleep.” Shu Juan bowed in obeisance to Qu Feiqing.

It was almost noon and Su Xin was still sleeping? Something must have happened to her, Qu Feiqing thought to herself.

With hurried but graceful steps, Qu Feiqing pushed the door open and came to Su Xin"s side. She could only see a ma.s.s of messy black hair peeking out from the quilt and the soft coc.o.o.n with Su Xin wrapped in it.

Qu Feiqing gently lifted the quilt, to reveal Su Xin"s red face and brows creased in discomfort.

Qu Feiqing frowned and stretched out her hand on Su Xin"s forehead to check her temperature.

It was terrifyingly hot.

"Go get the Imperial Physician." Shu Juan who stood by the door looked distracted by the scene, but she was quickly brought back to her senses by the emperor"s thundering voice. She hurriedly ran outside.

Su Xin eyes were tightly closed and her lashes kept on fluttering, signifying that she was conscious yet caught in a state of delirium. She felt a cool, soft palm touch her forehead.

“Qingqing, I feel terrible.”

Her voice became unconsciously coquettish as she cried out the name of the person she trusted the most.

Qu Feiqing stared blankly, the corners of her mouth gently lifting into a small smile.

T/N: Battle of the Qings Qu Feiqing or Qingqing? ? Sorry for late update.
