Zhao Yin walks silently forward.
Ah Zhao follows behind. After a few steps, Zhao Yin stops, looks at her and says: “My Princess, now that you’ve decided to share both the honor and the disgrace with me, don’t regret it afterwards.”
Ah Zhao snorts lightly: “Let’s wait and see.”
The two of them are seen to Palace of Happiness by heavily armed imperial guards.
When they arrive at Palace of Happiness, it is already dark, only a bit of gloomy shadow of the sun lingers by the end of the sky.
The imperial guard lights the torches and stands by the door without any intention to go inside.
“Please go in by yourselves.”
Zhao Yin raises his eyes and glances at him, then he lifts his legs and gets inside.
Ah Zhao follows him in silence.
With a crack, the door mottled with blocks of falling paints closes behind them.
It’s dark inside the cold palace. No one lived in Palace of Happiness before and naturally n.o.body will light the candles in the night.
Thank G.o.d that Zhao Yin has a torch in his hand, which saves them from being completely blind.
Even so, the visibility from the torch is very limited. The cold palace is all tattered and worn out. The light of the torch shines on something a bit far away from them, and the things that looms there are quite scary.
Ah Zhao feels very nervous.
She does not know whether the previous Qin Zhao is afraid of the dark or the ghost, but she is.
Zhao Yin, who’s walking in front of her, is not talking to her. She could only speak to Cotton candy to cheer herself up, which works as a distraction and makes her less scared.
However, the result of a distraction is that she stumps on something hard and round, and she slips forward immediately.
“Ah!” Ah Zhao screams and she is totally thrown toward the ground. A hand catches her firmly just in time.
“Watch your steps. What are you screaming for?” Zhao Yin frowns in disdain.
Ah Zhao is about to thank him, but after hearing that, her mouth twitches and she keeps her mouth shut.
Zhao Yin keeps walking forward. After a few steps, he suddenly stops and reaches out his hands: “Grab my sleeve.”
Ah Zhao is dumbfounded.
Zhao Yin says impatiently: “Come on, it’s very late. Or do you wish to stand in this open yard for the night, my Princess?”
Ah Zhao says: “Can you speak nicely for at least once?”
He is clearly a tender soul. How come what he says always gets people mad?
If it was Qin Zhao, she would have talked back directly. But at the moment, Ah Zhao feels quite insecure and just wants to leave and find somewhere to rest.
So she follows her heart and grabs Zhao Yin’s sleeve quietly.
Zhao Yin does not notice that she’s not like her usual self. After all, anyone who goes through such a sudden and unforeseen event wouldn’t be able to adapt.
Luckily, all the palaces are similar in structure and Zhao Yin finds the sleeping chamber in a short amount of time.
However, the sleeping chamber which Ah Zhao looks forwards to is a mess wherever the torch light goes. On the ground, there are broken pieces of ceramics, rotten fabrics and unknown liquid everywhere. And the place that could pa.s.s as a bed is also dirty and messy.
Zhao Yin is silent for a moment.
Born a n.o.ble and growing up in luxury, it is already very hard for him to keep calm till now considering the horrible incident he went through today.
However, reality always finds a way to go beyond one’s bottom lines. Looking at all this, which he has never imagined for the past 21 years of his life, he is struck dumb.
His mind goes blank and he does not know what to do.
Ah Zhao is also dumbfounded.
But since she knows that she’s in a mission, she’s better at accepting the reality.
With a sigh, Ah Zhao imitates Qin Zhao and snorts: “What are you standing there for? Do you actually want to stand in this chamber for the night?”
She throws back what Zhao Yin said earlier right back at him.
