Chapter 1973 Offer
1973 Offer
A few minutes later.
Sam is inside the inn. By now it became his personal property. The inn owner is also relaxed because there is not much he has to do but the money is streaming in.
In the dining hall, Sam is sipping some wine as he looked at the young man in front of him.
"Since you came here, you are extremely desperate and you really are ready to grab any straw that you can hold. So, tell me what exactly do you need?"
"I need to be with her?" The young man answered instantly with almost no gap. And his voice is filled with conviction.
Sam is a complete stranger to him and he was just insulted by Sam with all kinds of facts. But for some reason he felt that Sam is someone he can trust. At least, he is sure that Sam wouldn"t gain anything from betraying him. He gets nothing if this is deception and he would lose his time.
That is why he decided to follow Sam and since he followed he figured that he might as well be honest and just gave the answer.
Sam chuckled at his response.
"So what do you expect from me?? Go barge into the Zeus academy and bring that girl to you?"
Young man didn"t respond. The scenario Sam mentioned would indeed be convenient. But he knew it is impossible. No single man in this realm can ever do that. After a brief silence, Sam spoke again.
"I can"t give you the end result that you want. But I can give you things that will help you get that result. So, I am asking you again, what do you need?"
The young man went into deep thought. The first thing that came to his mind is strength. But he felt that Sam would reject it, saying it is not precise enough. Then the word talent came to his mind. He shook his head to shake that thought off. After all, how can someone change the talent of another person?
Only G.o.ds can do it.
But when he thought up to this point, Sam spoke again.
"Don"t limit your thoughts based on your limited world view. Understand what stopped you from being with her and ask me exactly that. Think of me as the G.o.d that you were praying for an ask?"
Sam said confidently. The young man was stunned for a moment The way Sam said those words was very casual. But that casual nature made him appear more arrogant.
Sam just proclaimed himself as G.o.d"s equal for the people like him who believed their lives were G.o.d"s mercy, it is not an easy thing to digest.
For a moment, he felt a sense of fear towards Sam. It came from being a "smaller" creature than him.
He gulped and answered in a shivering voice.
"Talent, Potential, Strength and status."
Sam smiled as he swirled the gla.s.s and asked.
"I will grant you all these, what are you willing to pay for that?"
"I will pay anything as long as I can be with Jade."
"Anything? Don"t make promises that you cannot keep."
"No, I will really give anything for this. As long as you can give me what I need, you can take whatever you want."
"Does that anything include your morality? Your free will? Your soul and your life?"
The young man didn"t know what to say. For a moment he doubted his choice of coming here. Sam is asking what he wants and for every answer Sam is. .h.i.tting him with another weird question.
It is almost like Sam is deliberately trying to act mysterious and profound.
But Sam is obviously stronger than him and he came out of Zeus academy, the guards had a weird att.i.tude towards him and he even heard a few rumors and murmurs when he was coming to the inn.
That slight doubt aside, a huge part of him is a bit hopeful. The aura and mannerism of Sam is different from other elite people he has met and because of his unique situation he has met a lot of them.
Sam acts like he is a super being to him, but at the same time it feels like he is not looking down on him. This is very confusing and in that confusion, the young man kept on thinking about the questions Sam asked.
Morality, free will, soul and life.
He is tempted to say yes. At this moment, he doesn"t need anything other than Jade.
But when he thought of the implications of selling his own morality, he grit his teeth and stayed silent.
Sam got off his feet and walked to him with his hands in his pockets.
He looked at the young man with a very faint smile.
"I like it that you held in. If you had answered instantly, I would have thrown you out right away."
The young man was surprised, but he didn"t get to speak as Sam continued.
"I will give you what you need. A potential and talent so great that the young masters who were after you will feel jealous of you. The people that disdained you would wish to be you. Even if Jade"s father comes face to face, he would never be able to say that you lack talent and he can never use that talent as an excuse to reject you.
But for that, I demand your undying loyalty.
From the moment you accept this and the moment you accept your death, you will become my subordinate.
You will act according to my will and you will do my bidding. My enemy would be your enemy and my friend would be your friend.
If a person comes at me with a weapon, I expect you to stand in between even if you knew you were going to lose.
And I must tell you, this loyalty to me should be absolute.
If you agree to this, I will give you what the G.o.ds couldn"t and the devil wouldn"t. I will change you life with my very own hands to the point that you would have never even imagined it.
So, are you willing? Are you daring enough to do this?"
"Can you really give me talent? How? Isn"t it something decided at birth? Isn"t it naturally impossible to change it?"
Sam looked at him without saying anything. He already told everything he wanted to tell. There is no need to answer any other questions. If the other party really wants to get what Sam has, then he would have to take a leap of faith.
The young man gritted his teeth and said.
"If you give me what I need, I will give you my undying loyalty. I will do as you command for the rest of my life."
"Good. From this moment on, exactly in ten days, you will go through a procedure that will be the first step in changing your destiny. Be mentally prepared.
And until then, I need you to do a few things and you are not going to do anything that I didn"t say. Even your breathing should be in the way that I tell you."
Sam said with a strict tone.
"I will comply."
"Okay now. What is your name?"
The young man pursed his lips and said.
"Stone."
"Stone?"
"Yes, I was born in the mines, that is what I was named after."
Sam nodded and sent him to one of the rooms within the inn to rest for little bit.
Until now, every single thing in the realm has gone in the exact way he wanted it to happen.
The hub is ready to open, and there is only one thing he need to do before that happens.
And that will happen in the entrance examination of the gambler"s academy which is going to take place a couple of day later.
Meanwhile, he decided to go ahead and do one of the greatest experiments that he had ever done. After coming to this world he dabbled in every field. He has created machines, puppets based on robotics, he combined the cultivation techniques with the puppets, the formations, he even played around with genetics when he created the vines that could destroy planets if left alone.
But there is one thing he didn"t deal with in too much. Genetics of the cultivators. It would be wrong to say he didn"t touch it at all. He did it through beast cultivation and such, but he didn"t try to make any major changes.
Now he wanted to try it too. Since he wants to challenge the G.o.ds of this world, he has to become a G.o.d himself. He needs to rival G.o.ds in everything.
The one thing that the G.o.ds have over Sam is their control over the lives and destinies of so many people. The impact of G.o.ds on a person"s destiny is far more than what Sam could do.
Sam could destroy a person"s life or improve, but the G.o.ds could change it to the point that it might look like its against natural laws and Sam is going to do the same now.
He will bend the will of the nature and create something and show these G.o.ds what he has in store.
And luckily, he is already dabbling in some research that will help him achieve this goal much faster.
