Chapter 183: Trial Of Survival Part One

After packing all her bags, Kana sat on her bed, laid back, and stared at the ceiling. "I wonder how long I will be gone for…."

"Kana, are you really going?" Kiliffia asked. Kiliffia felt that the room they were sharing was going to get lonely until Kana gets back.

"Mmm... I need to. I can not pa.s.s up this opportunity. I will try to be quick, but I am not sure how long it will take. Kiliffia, can you do me a favor, and when Creige shows up looking for me, just tell him I went to become stronger and will be back as soon as I can." Kana wished she could say goodbye to him before leaving. With this thought in mind, Kana sat back up and stood up. She grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder. "I guess I will head out."

"I will be sure to pa.s.s your message along. Be careful. I will be waiting for you to come back." Kiliffia forced a smile, trying to hide the loneliness that was creeping in.

"I will. I promise to come back in one piece. If I can not pa.s.s the trial, I will give up." Kana patted Kiliffia on the head before exiting the room. She then headed to speak with the dean to tell him she was leaving. After which, she took out the silver globe that she was given to her by Old Sir. After injecting some magic into it, the silver globe began to glow. It became brighter and brighter until finally, the sound of shattering could be heard. A crack in time and s.p.a.ce appeared. Kana went to step into it only to be sucked in instead, along with the silver globe! The time and s.p.a.ce crack shattered into b.a.l.l.s of light that rose up into the sky, making it seem that Kana was never there, to begin with.

"You have returned." Old Sir smiled as his body projected into the air.

"Mmm… I must ask, how long will these next trials take?" Kana asked.

"Depends. Some might pa.s.s them in a few years, while some will never pa.s.s and be stuck within the trial until they pa.s.s away. It all depends on your own ability to survive. You see, the next trial is the trial of survival. You will be sent to a realm with powerful monsters and other beings unlike you have ever seen. You can not leave until you have reached your second evolution." Old Sir lightly explained.

"..." Kana was not sure if she wanted to take this trial because she was different from others. She had to gain the correct elemental attributes that were naturally formed in order to ever reach her next evolution. At least that is what she has come to understand anyway. Unfortunately, she has yet to be able to test this.

"I know what you are thinking. But the world I am sending you to should have what you seek. I would not suggest you take this trial if it was not for the fact that you have already acquired a water elemental. It should help you find what you seek." Old Sir gave a mysterious smile. But Kana was still not sure.

"Old Sir, do you happen to know what I need in order to evolve the moon fire dragon? Like the requirements?" Kana asked.

"If I am correct, and this is just from what I have read in old texts. You should be able to evolve after getting three of your attributes to the second evolution. As of now, you will already have each of your elements that you gain start off in the first evolution. So leveling them to the second evolution should not be hard." Old Sir explained.

Seeing how she only needed one more element and needed to level said element to the second evolution in order to reach her own second evolution with the moon fire dragon, Kana decided the risk was worth it. "Okay, then I would like to begin the next trial."

"Good! I promise you the reward for pa.s.sing the trial is well worth it." Not even waiting for Kana to answer, Old Sir waved his hand, causing Kana to disappear.

"Grandpa, you seem happy." A young man walked over to Old Sir and took a peek at the water screen.

"I have finally found a good seedling. Although originally, that old tower only had one trial, I decided to add two more. I need to make sure she is not someone who will give up when the odds are against her. If she pa.s.ses all three trials, she will gain all the wisdom I have acc.u.mulated over the past few million years." Old Sir said with a smile. On his face, he had not met such a good pupil in a long time.

"I guess they are truly lucky. But is it good to give our knowledge to an outsider? I mean, we are..." The young man was cut off when Old Sir glared at him.

"What does it matter who I teach? If I wish to pa.s.s my wisdom down to someone, I will. That la.s.s will take a few million years to understand it all anyway. By that time, our kind… I just wish for our people to leave a mark. We are only able to do things through the orbs left behind while we are trapped in this void. You are the last of our descendants. Once I and the others pa.s.s away, you will be left alone..." Old Sir"s voice grew hoa.r.s.e. He did not like talking about this.

The young man gritted his teeth. " If only that b.a.s.t.a.r.d never created that thing! My mother, my father, and everyone else…."

"Don"t speak of it! I know… But it was the price we pay for trying to breach the wall. Maybe one day that little la.s.s will have what it takes to accomplish something we were never able to and break the boundaries of the system for good." Old Sir let out a long sigh as he got lost in thought.

"It would be nice to see our peoples" work completed. But Grandpa you got one thing wrong. The day you die is also the day I die. If you are not around then there is no longer a reason for me to be here either. Right now we are just living on borrowed time." The young man said with a smile on his face. His eyes resolute. He was only alive now to keep his grandpa company. Otherwise he would have ended his life a long time ago.
