Chapter 423: The Past That Started It All Part 1
Angelica continued reading from where she left off. The story itself had caught Angelica"s attention. For some reason, she felt that maybe there was more to this story for her father to have this book in his possession.
The girl continued to travel until she finally reached the edge of the human territory. This was the boundary between the lands ruled by demons and devils and humans. It had taken her almost an entire year to reach these lands from where her people once lived. Her white hair that reached down to her feet fluttered in the wind as her ruby red eyes gazed out over the reddish black landscape covered by dark clouds blocking out the sun ahead of her. She turned and looked at the green and colorful landscape behind her that had clear blue skies and puffy white clouds that floated through it.
She clenched her fist as she continued to gaze out over the lush landscape, her lips curling up into a sneer. "You people hail yourselves as the bringers of light and good, but in the end, all you did was no different than those who practice what you call demonic arts. But when you are faced with a race that has the ability to dominate the land, you destroy it out of fear of losing the power you oh so love. One day I will return, and I will show you just how powerful my people are. One day I will destroy your families and clans just like you did mine."
After saying these words, the girl stepped off the lush green gra.s.s and onto the dry, cracked, reddish black ground. She felt the ground beneath her feet and took a deep breath. "Let"s hope this new land will allow me to exact my revenge."
Once again, she traveled for months. Unlike the stable lands of humans, many terrifying beasts roamed the lands of the demons and devils. But this did not stop the girl in the slightest. Each beast became food for her, slowly giving her strength, allowing her to become more powerful.
It was not until six months that she had stumbled upon a city. To her surprise, the city was bustling and was like any other city she had been to before. Even the locals seemed to have a friendly att.i.tude. She looked around in curiosity as she walked the streets. No one even paid much attention to her either. They didn"t seem to care about the little girl that was covered in blood.
During her trip, after slaying thousands of monsters, the girl had had to use her hands to tear the flesh off the monsters in order to fill her stomach. Because of the messy scene, her clothes had become stained in blood. Even her white hair had patches of blood on it. After trying to wash it out multiple times when she found a stream, with no success, she gave up.
The girl did not look in the best of shapes either. Her hair trailed along behind her, picking up rocks and sticks along the way. Her only piece of clothing was a long white dress tattered at its edges, and her feet had many cuts and sc.r.a.pes on them. If it was any other girl, they might have long been complaining about such things, but this girl"s eyes were filled with light as she continued to observe her surroundings.
"Everyone make way, the King is coming through for an inspection!" A man"s voice echoed throughout the city. The girl who had just arrived in this city paid no attention to things like kings or emperors since she did not care about such trivial matters. The sounds of werebeasts were heard. There was two large black werebeasts pulling a carriage down the main street. Surrounding it were thirty royal guards in full black metal armor. Each one had a ma.s.sive greatsword on their back.
All the civilians quickly moved to the side. Those who were slow were ruthlessly tossed to the side without a care of their well being by the guards. "Out of the way!" one of the guards yelled as she tossed aside a small child.
As for the young girl, she was not even paying attention to what was going on as she was still engrossed in taking in her new surroundings. Everything was new and interesting to her. As she stood in the road, another shout came from behind her. The girl felt a rush of air come towards her causing her to frown. She slowly turned around and reached out with her hand catching the blade that was about to hit her between her fingers. She turned her head, causing her long white hair to sway to the side and her ruby red eyes to staring coldly at the man in black metal armor who swung a sword at her. She tilted her head and looked at the man who was trying to frantically take his sword back.
"Are you my enemy?" The girl asked. Her voice was soft and without emotion, but at the same time, they were as cold as ice.
"What!?" The guard was confused by the girl"s question. But he had no time to think about it as he heard a cracking sound. He looked down to see that his ma.s.sive black blade had slowly begun to crack and turn to dust. "This!?"
The guard quickly jumped back and yelled out: "a.s.sa.s.sin! Protect his Majesty! "
Present timeā¦
"Miss Yuthia, Miss Sei, I have gotten some information." Keniil said as soon as he entered Tilia"s chambers.
"What do you have for us?" Yuthia asked.
"It"s like this. There is a rebel faction that dislikes the queen"s new reforms on making everyone equal and because of this, these people turned towards an ancient magic that summons creatures from another dimension. What these creatures are we do not know yet, but we do know that they are able to turn invisible, and they will listen to the command of the summoner."
"So those b.a.s.t.a.r.ds started to make a move and even came up with this kind of ploy? Keniil, I need you to bring more people to surround the capital. I will tell the royal guard to step down. I want your people to search each corner of this capital and root out any traitors. If someone does not comply, arrest them and then search their home. If they are clean, they can go free. But no stone must be left unturned. Start from the very top!" Yuthia was decisive in this. She promised Kana she would protect her family and she would very well do it.
