Ah, home base, a nice little hole where I level my tunnel skill, and that"s about it. I won"t lie, I do miss being a human, there was so much more to do. Well, I can do things here, but I don"t want to die so most things are on hold. I need a game plan. So first, I"ll spend my Life Matter.Let"s upgrade muscles and body. That"ll improve my defense a little.
[Upgrade muscles to muscles II]
[Upgrade body to body II]
[Confirm?]
Confirm! Let"s do this!
Ouch! My entire body feels like millions of needles are repeatedly a.s.saulting me! And my muscles won"t stop twitching! f.u.c.k you Jeremy! You"re a c.u.n.t!
Phew! That always sucks. But I feel way more energized. And heavier. Overall I seem a little stronger, but not in pure might, more in being able to utilize my muscles better. Before I wasn"t really able to use my entire body as my strength, and now I can use just a little more. All in all I have hope for my muscles. As for my body, it seems to be more of my outer muscle segments. They feel tougher like they can take some beating. I"ll have to wait until I can test further before I can really tell. Let"s go hunting!
---
Earlier, in my hunger, I went in the same direction as I first had, inevitably encountering the acid centipede. Today I"ll head the opposite direction.
I tunnel in the complete opposite direction of the centipede tunnel. Not the tastiest food, and I don"t know whether I"ll find a lone one or not. Not to mention I still haven"t really fought one. Just kinda murdered it. Combat experience is needed in excess. d.a.m.n this tunnel skill is good! I used to tunnel through the dirt very slowly, but with tunnel at level four I now can speed up a bit. The skill even gives me more info on how to tunnel. More effective pathing, how to get the most out of my dirt, even how to tell which dirt is good or not. As I expected, this s.h.i.t is pretty bad.
Oh, I see heat. A lot of heat, actually. I"m scared, but it seems to be peaceful here? I see many different heat forms, small and large, but none seem to be attacking each other. I get closer, but first I tunnell back a little to create a backup plan. That done, I poke my front end out into yet another tunnel, but this one"s big. It"s fair to say some big creatures could use this one.
As I follow this new path, towards the huddle of monsters, it opens up into a huge cavernous area, and I can clearly tell that"s where everyone is hanging out. Leaving me out? No invitation? Come on guys I wanna have fun too!
I cautiously approach the cavern hesitating slightly before worming my in like only worms can do. I can tell some monsters notice me, but everyone is so focused on what they"re doing that a little earthworm can"t distract them. With this confirmation, I continue worming my way, trying to see what they"re doing.
They all crowd around a huge hole. Well maybe it"s not a hole, but it seems to be sucking all heat from the surroundings into itself. I can see some creatures even… lapping at it? Oh, it"s an underground pond. d.a.m.n, that has to be one cold-a.s.s pond. Do we monsters even need water? As I"m mumbling to myself inside my head, I feel a ferocious glare from one of the creatures.
Is that an acid centipede? Fancy seeing you here! Uhhh, why do you seem so angry? Did I do something wrong? I don"t think so. I only killed one of your kind…
Seeing me not approach, the centipede gives me what I imagine must be a dirty look, before taking one last lap of water and slinking off in one direction. I follow slowly, with the utmost caution, hoping I can get some food tonight. Acid centipede may not be the best food, but I"m not going to let an inferior centipede look down on me. Worms are better!
