Royal Lotus

Chapter 17

Since I was young, I hated the feeling of helplessness and to show any form of weakness. But above all, I used to hate those weaker than me. So killing them had been my way of teaching them not to be so fragile — so below my level. Most often they were commoners, or lowly n.o.bles that had their blood drawn by me. So death wasn"t something to frighten me.

I was never truly innocent nor clean like my siblings, and I never will be. I"ll repent for my sins, like I should, but changing my character wasn"t, and isn"t, easy.

Looking at the scene before me, I felt no anger nor true pity —only the intent to study the situation and surroundings. In a sense, what played out was somewhat nostalgic. It was like seeing me in the eyes of others from when I was a true villain; a n.o.ble abusing their power and beating the weak —stomping and beating the them till they bled and cried for mercy.

"Enough," I called out once I got an understanding of everything. Striding over, I crossed my arm and raised an eyebrow. "What do you think you"re doing in front of my manor?"

A flash of recognition pa.s.sed through the attacks eyes before he let out a smirk. He proceeded to turn his gaze away from me and kick Phillip who laid on the ground — bleeding and shivering as tears of pain streamed down his face —once more.

Letting out a satisfy laughter at Phillip"s cry of pain, he turned to face me once more, bending his knees in a mocking manner.

"After your little stunt, I had my servants investigate you. Acting all high and mighty but it turns out," his smile faded, "you"re just a n.o.body."

He raised once again, pinching the s.p.a.ce between his brows as he let out a sigh, "Kids these days. They should really be taught better. Especially ones such as you who go around pretending to be someone they"re not."

I clenched my jaw but let him continue.

"I"m the heir of the renowned weaponry shop, Starlights. The son of the great blacksmith, Johnson Matthew Starlight — who is said to come from a great line of military power and to have mastered the ninety percent of mana control—," he sent mocking grin my way, and used his index finger to jab at my forehead,"—I am Ken Anthony Starlight. But you? you"re nothing but a shameful, little, ignorant brat. And to be honest, I did think about teaching you some manner as well, especially since the filth did help us track you down, but I pity you. So be thankful for my pity or else you"d be on the ground as well."

I tightened my crossed arm, trying to prevent myself from killing. A bug like him wasn"t worth the trouble of getting my hand stained.

"A n.o.body, you say? Perhaps it"s better for me to be that than to be you," I spat back. "You call me shameful but whose the one doing shameful acts right now? I"m not the one beating a child simply because they had their oversized ego beaten by one."

The anger in him raised but he failed to intimidate me with his presence. I glanced to the side and notice that Phillip was now sitting in a kneeling position, shaking his head for me not to go further. Of course I didn"t pay attention to it. I knew he was worried for me, but a bug like Ken wouldn"t be able to take me down in a million years.

"And pity?" I continued, "I didn"t think it was in your vocabulary to understand such a word - not with your dead seedling of a brain. Oh, wait, perhaps you don"t understand what a brain is either."

"You-" Ken growled, he lounged forward and sent a slap my way. I had the power to dodge, especially from such a slow attack, but allowed myself to meet the contact. The impact sent my small body tumbling to the ground. And in a second, a sword was held against Ken"s throat. I hid a smirk as I cupped the side of my face that was slapped. I slowly got up from the ground and looked at the shaking figure of Ken, held between the sword and body of a special knight.

When I had been a.s.sessing earlier I remembered the fact that Luna"s bedroom wasn"t too far off from us. And as the precious child of the royal family and kingdom, she had several special knights guarding her. Out of the many, one of her special guard was bound to be close enough to the manor to react immediately to any malicious presence. And sending Ken into that direction of pure anger was easy enough.
