At the hospital, Yu Sha waited agitatedly in the lobby for the evaluation report. Every time when she thinks of the bruises she saw on the boy, her anger rose several numbers. She wanted to fly back into the rusty little house and waited for the father to come home so she could beat him to a pulp. After reporting to the police and services, Tsong walked down the corridor to a.s.sure Yu Sha that the mother and children are in good hand so she should go back.
Yu Sha"s current state is overtaken by angers that she forgot it is way past the time to meet up with the Perverted Prince but she has more pressing matters at hand to care much about him. "Tell your boss, I"ll see him tomorrow." She does not plan to meet up with Hue Chi. Her heart right now is in chaos, unable to leave the vulnerable family behind without securing a secured future plan for them.
Tsong couldn"t do anything other than quietly agreed to her request.
All night, she stayed with the family. Her persona was so rea.s.suring that Lali finally succ.u.mbed to tiredness and for the first time since he can remember, he slept so soundly. His tiny body finally laid listlessly, his face calmed and tranquil with no traces of fear. Having been the oldest, although he was six years old, he protected his mother and sisters as he could. He couldn"t allow himself to relax for fear of his father"s rampage and haven"t been able to rest properly most of his life. A few days ago, his mother took them and escaped, but their father caught them. His mother suffered horrible bruised, and he got some on his body for trying to shield her. His father then took their identification cards and all the money left.
The next day, Yu Sha escorted the family to the women shelter, Harvest Women Shelter. She not only a.s.sessed the building condition but its security measures. What if someone should ever go rampage and come with weapons, how do the shelter protect its residents and staff? From what she saw, they don"t have a single defense system, but just an entrance bodyguard. Just when they entered the entrance, a staff greeted them and took them inside.
Soon they arrived to the room designated for Lali, his mother, and baby sister to live in for the time being until they can get back on their feet. She squatted down and patted Lali"s head, "You"ve done a great job protecting your mother and little sister. This Big Sister here is very proud of you. I have to leave now, but I"ll come visit every week."
Lali looked at Yu Sha shyly and nodded his head. After bidding goodbye to the family, Yu Sha left to meet up with the founders of Harvest Women Shelter.
In the main office, Yu Sha met Bella, who barely escaped death from her abusive husband"s rage. He put a gun to her neck and released the trigger. How she managed to survived was a miracle, shocked all the doctors. They didn"t think she could wake up again and if she did, she would never live a normal life. To have a second chance at life, she gathered enough courage within herself to help those in her shoes and that was how she founded Harvest Women Shelter.
Yu Sha asked what programs they have in place to help family like these get back on their feet. The founder gave Yu Sha a pamphlets of the programs and resources they have for the victim family.
She reached to receive the brochure and glimpsed through it. Harvest have therapy courses for the victims including children and trade skill courses for the woman to learn so they can earn a living.
After the victims completed all the courses, the shelter helps the victim, the mother or women find job and housing. The shelter can"t provide financial support once the victim moves out of their building. Harvest Women Shelter received a grant from the government but it was not enough to run therapy programs for the victims, so they have to run campaigns and fund raise for all the other expenses.
Sometimes they received donations from wealthy people but they still have to constantly fund raised for expenses. In the last couple of years, there were times when they ran out of shelter rooms for victims. They had an increased in victims seeking help and often times, they have to rent apartments nearby for the victims.
"From what I can see, there is no safety security systems in place. How do the shelter protect its victims from their predators?"
Bella understood Yu Sha"s concerns. It"s a thought that has crossed her mind numerous time but she does not have the means to improve that aspect of the building. Her priority of concerns is to safely secured the victims from their dangerous surrounding, hide them in the shelter, provide therapy programs for the victims before releasing them out to the world again.
"I understood your concerns. We haven"t had any attacks here in the shelter"s premises but there have been cases where the victims were found and attacked by their predators when they left. The thought of having to improve security measures here is in my mind all the time. Currently, Harvest Women shelter don"t have the resources for that. We have more important priorities to focus. If and when we have extra resources in the future, we planned on looking at that."
