Seeking the Flying Sword Path

Chapter 5 - Origin Flying Sword

Chapter 5 - Origin Flying Sword

"His brother?" The wild boar monster Chu Yong murmured quietly, then he widened his eyes. "You’re that Qin Yun?"

He finally remembered.

Qin Liehu had two sons. One was Qin An, and the other was originally a famous chivalrous swordsman, but six years ago, he left his home to travel the world. Also, based on Qin Yun’s strength from six years ago, although he may have been dazzling amongst the younger generation, in the eyes of the truly strong and capable, he was still considered immature. The wild boar monster Chu Yong was one of the most terrifying and formidable monsters of Guangling City, so how could he have thought highly of a kid?

"Because you killed me, the water G.o.d won’t let you go." The wild boar monster Chu Yong felt his consciousness faltering. Still unwilling to admit defeat, he lowly roared, "The water G.o.d will never let you go, never let you."

"Water G.o.d? Seventy percent of the monsters in the entire Guangling City are the water G.o.d’s subordinates." Qin Yun sneered, "I’m killing those monsters; do you think I’m scared of offending the water G.o.d?"

The wild boar monster Chu Yong’s upper body completely reverted back to his original form. The large wild boar’s top half no longer made any sound, indicating his death.

The entire hall was filled with silence.

The chief of the monsters, all eight monsters, including the cat monster, the lady dressed in pink, and the black-robed old man, were all dead.

Only Qin Yun stood alone in the middle of the hall, pondering.

"They only have to see the corpse of the monster leader to know that a single sword cleanly severed his body. Not many in Guangling City are capable of such a feat, so my ident.i.ty would be easily exposed. I’ll have to clean up a bit. I’ve only just come back after leaving home for six years. It is still not the right time to clash with the water G.o.d." Qin Yun carefully planned before casually searching around the hall and discovering a box of Star Pattern Steel.

"Star Pattern Steel." Qin Yun looked inside the cracked box, which was revealing pieces of metal. "With these dozens of pounds of Star Pattern Steel pieces, the foundation of my Origin Flying Sword will become even more enriched. The total time I will need to refine it to perfection will also be shortened by a month or two."

He searched around the hall as well as the monsters’ corpses several more times, but there was no more Star Pattern Steel to be found.

Afterwards, Qin Yun took out a red sachet from his bosom and then opened it. Inside, there was a small bottle, which he also opened and sprinkled a couple of drops of fluid onto the monsters’ corpses. He sprinkled seven to eight drops onto the wild boar monster Chu Yong’s body while only sprinkling one or two drops onto the other monsters’ corpses.

"Chichichi."

After that, he lit them on fire.

If it were regularly burned, it would take days to fully burn the wild boar monster Chu Yong’s corpse, and even then the bones would remain. However, because of those drops of fluid, a dull blue flame was unceasingly eroding away the wild boar monster’s dead body. After only ten breaths, there was practically nothing left over of his remains beside ashes. As for the other corpses that had only received a drop or two, they had already become ash long ago.

"This ‘Nether Water’ is running out. I better concoct more," Qin Yun whispered to himself as he walked over to the throne and fumbled with the armrest a bit, restoring it to its original state.

"Honglonglong--" The doors which had closed before were reopened.

Qin Yun used his Spell Eye to look around and easily found where Chu Yong would typically spend time at. After carefully searching, he quickly found a treasure box filled with items, like gemstones and pearls, as well as a stack of bank notes.

"What a great guy. There are sixty-three thousand taels?" Qin Yun flipped through the bills in surprise. "This old monster is the lackey of the water G.o.d, so most of what he gets has to be offered to him. Not to mention the fact that cultivation is very wealth consuming, and even in this situation, he managed to save up so much money."

"Cultivation is emphasized with method, money, companions.h.i.+p, and finally, land. Firstly, without a method, there is no possibility of cultivation. Secondly, there is money." Qin Yun shook his head. "I, under the sword immortal faction, deplete few resources for most things, but to raise my Origin Flying Sword requires many materials. My acc.u.mulated wealth in these past six years of wandering was nearly all invested into my sword. Luckily this time, I received these bills and the Star Pattern Steel. If I add in my original savings, I can manage my Origin Flying Sword’s needs for the upcoming year."

Being a cultivator really causes a headache.

For example, if one were to make talismans, even if they were to use the cheapest of papers and crimson ink, the cost of practicing in the long-term was very alarming. Going to higher tiers would only exponentiate the cost.

Even concocting pills or refining magic weapons required heavy investments in practicing. Just thinking about it was scary.

He searched through the entire underground palace of the monsters’ residence and left carrying two bundles of things. Though, before he left, he projected his voice throughout the underground palace. He changed his voice to sound like an old man, but it was still vigorous and firm, "I’ve killed all the monsters. You should all leave this place quickly if you still want to live."

The underground palace was a place where monsters led a life of pleasure but also a place where humans led a life of suffering and despair.

Before, various loud noises were heard coming from the audience hall. The dancers, musicians, and servants were all frightened, so they stayed in their living quarters, not daring to come out. However, after hearing Qin Yun’s announcement, they waited a while before slowly and carefully coming out. Once they saw that there was n.o.body there stopping them and that all the gates and traps were disabled, they excitedly left and fled onto the streets. They were immediately discovered by the night patrol and the underground palace was instantly exposed.

Guangling City’s government officials started an investigation, and after looking into the palace, they realized that the owner was the leader of the monsters, Chu Yong.

To Guangling City, Chu Yong was ranked amongst the most insidious and terrifying old monsters. He had been wreaking havoc for decades, and his nest had always been a mystery.

This news immediately frightened the upper echelons of Guangling City.

Inside the Qin Manor, in one of the rooms in Qin Yun’s courtyard.

Soft light escaped from the lampshade, illuminating the room.

"Dong."

Qin Yun conveniently put all of the bills and treasures from one of his bundles into the trunk by his bedside. He then put the other bundle on the bed and quickly opened it. Inside were the many Star Pattern Steels. "Star Pattern Steel is contraband if held by the common-folk. Most would be punished by having their families killed and their wealth stripped and confiscated for just possessing it. Thankfully, because of my ident.i.ty, even if these were to be discovered, it would only be a small incident."

Qin Yun crossed his legs as he sat on top of the bed and calmed his mind.

Within his body and inside his Dantian.

His Dantian was like the ocean, where Zhenyuan formed rivers that galloped and wandered about. Amongst them, there was a round, luminous, silvery metal spheroid floating in the center.

All of a sudden, the luminous silver ball began to spin and gradually expand, forming a long strip of "metal hair." The silver metal sphere was originally very small, about the size of a small stone. After it expanded, the metal strands were long and thin, like strands of hair on a person’s head.

"Xiu."

The metal hair flew out of his Dantian, flowed along through his arteries, and quickly exited from his arm at the tip of his index finger. The sudden piercing of his skin left behind a small wound, but with Qin Yun’s const.i.tution, he recovered in a flash.

After the strand of bright, silvery silk shot out from his fingertips, it became bigger and bigger.

It had transformed into a three-inch-long bright silver small sword and was floating before Qin Yun.

"Origin Flying Sword." Qin Yun continued to sit cross-legged, observing the three-cun-long flying sword hovering before him. "There is still another year before my Origin Flying Sword is finished. When that time comes, it can freely exit my Dantian without being so cautious."

Right now, the Origin Flying Sword is still not truly refined. The flying sword cannot distinguish between friend and foe and can possibly damage internal organs. Because of the potential severe injuries it could cause, I can only temporarily raise it inside my Dantian by having it become a ‘sword ball.’ Otherwise, if it were to stay in its ‘sword form,’ in its current state of incomplete refining, if I"m not careful and it damages my Dantian, then it will be too late for regrets.

Once the Origin Flying Sword finished refinis.h.i.+ng, it would be cla.s.sified as a TOTEM, growing or shrinking at will with its might very formidable.

Even if Qin Yun were to find another refined flying sword, it would not even be able to compare to the Origin Flying Sword. Otherwise, why would it be called the ‘Origin Flying Sword?’ This was a sword that had been refined and raised day and night inside his Dantian, to the point that his spirit had melded into its refining. Over a long period of time, the sword had become a part of his life force, so its might was indeed frighteningly powerful. If the Origin Flying Sword were to be destroyed, not only would he be severely injured, but repeating the same path of cultivation would be impossible.

"Go." He lifted up a piece of the Star Pattern Steel which weighed ten pounds and he casually threw it. At this moment, strands of zhenyuan shot out from his fingertip to catch the Star Pattern Steel and brought it under the three-inch-long flying sword.

Buzz~~

Following Qin Yun’s techniques, a l.u.s.ter drew around the three-inch-long flying sword and it continuously absorbed the essence of the Star Pattern Steel below it. Dots of light shot out of the Star Pattern Steel and headed to the three-inch-long flying sword. The piece of floating Star Pattern Steel gradually had crumbs floating down from it.

After an hour, the three-inch-long flying sword quivered and let out a quivering ring.

"We’ll end here today." Qin Yun stretched out his hand and retrieved the Star Pattern Steel that had shrunk and now resembled a cobblestone in his palm. It was now only two pounds heavy. "Refining and absorbing approximately eight pounds worth of Star Pattern Steel just like that. If we were to cultivate once per day, it’d probably be around ten days before I exhaust the stock and my Origin Flying Sword will have a more solid foundation."

"Raising an Origin Flying Sword is really not easy. If it were a normal cultivator, or even if it were another sword immortal, they would have to expend decades of labor raising their own Origin Flying Sword. I managed to obtain the Misty Rain Sword Intent, which allows me to raise flying swords ten times faster, so I only need to work hard for a few years to be finished with this. Too bad the materials and resources needed to raise a flying sword are the same and cannot be cheated." Qin Yun sighed inwardly with emotion.

It was like throwing away mountains of gold and silver, all for a single flying sword.
