Server Lost

Chapter 13

Turns out, the moment they became Humans, they lost the thirty levels belonging to their Vampire racial cla.s.ses. Now, they were just like the other three members were moments ago, but gained five levels from the death of the Brother.

However now that they were level thirty five, they had the racial cla.s.s of a High Human, which is a rare racial trait one gets from having high magical and technological affinities.

As the youngest one spoke, she seemed to have a hard time speaking, trying not to burst out crying.

"I…" Sniffling, she kept her eyes up on him, three steps back and her shoulders drooped. "I have an affinity with the dark elemental type spells."

"Dark Elemental..." Jack slowly nodded, understanding what she meant.

Dark Elemental Affinity shouldn"t be confused with the Darkness Element. While most magics have a positive charge, those with the Dark Elemental Affinity, will have a negative charge. Often this will result in negative status effects such as poisoning, burning or stopping the healing of hostile targets.

However because of the negative effect of this affinity, it cannot be used to heal the living, but rather the undead. These two would be best suited as Kokei"s support, if Jack was willing enough to hand them over.

"Anything else?" Jack asked as he tilted his head to the side slightly, watching as her face lit up slightly at his question. She seemed to be either trying to hide something, or embarra.s.sed. "Hm?"

"O-other than using a Rapier, I"m d-decent at Knitting..."

Jack squinted at her for a few moments before nodding slowly, she had hadn"t been lying to him at all. Which was a good sign as it meant that the Divine Fealty kept her loyal to him. Though that didn"t make them slaves, they had a mind and will of their own. They"d just have the instinct to put him first in the regards of loyalty as he would be perceived as their Ultimate Leader.

"Knitting..."

Jack"s eyes shifted over towards the other sister, than back to the one he had already questioned. "As for a name?" He knew they didn"t have names, using Character Appraisal, it was rather evident with that blank s.p.a.ce in their information.

"Uh..." She brought a hand up, running in through her hair.

"How does Snow sound?" Jack inquired as he"d poke her in the forehead, causing her to stumble back suddenly, her eyes flickering up at him in shock.

"Uh… Oh.… Um... I like that." A shallow smile was evident across her lips, being given a name felt nice...

His eyes then shifted over towards the blonde sister who was looking over him. Unlike her other sister, she was a bit better at hiding her feelings behind a stoic front. Yet her glossy eyes told the whole story.

"And what can you do, exactly?"

"The same," the older sister seemed to shift on her weight to the side, leaning on one hip as she looked up at him. A testy look was in her eyes.

While she hadn"t lied, Jack simply frowned at the fact that he was stuck with two people with identical skillsets. Rapier, Dark Elemental Affinity and Knitting. This pretty much made them Magic Swordsmen in a way, which he found rather interesting to say the least.

They could be used as support for an undead or be used as a pair of frontliners.

"You"re aware of boons, correct?"

The girls both nodded to him as they knew how to temporarily place effects on weapons of their own or their allies in order to increase damages or defensive strengths.

"Good," Jack let out a sigh as he looked over towards the treasure room at the other side of the boss arena. It seemed the three party members had already gone ahead, while the Princess remained waiting for him in the room, sitting on the chest she claimed with a key in her hand.

"What about a name for me?" The Blonde immediately grabbed at his holy robes.

Jack"s head slowly turned to face her, his eyes snapping onto hers like a puzzle piece. She seemed to be glaring at him, though he couldn"t see if she was angry, or this was just her normal temperament.

His eyes wandered on down to the fist which had been balled up into his robes, before letting out a huff of air before narrowing his sights on her face.

"How about Rein?" Jack"s index finger and thumb would wrap around her wrist, tugging her hand off of his robe with superior strength.

Her eyes widened slightly feeling the grip on her arm, "I uh… I"d like that name very much." A wide, nervous, smile appeared across her lips. Sweat actually appearing on the side of her forehead.

She had a circlet-like hair style which reached down to her mid-back, leaving her forehead openly exposed and completely absent of wrinkles.

"Such a stress free life..." Jack uttered as he stared at her forehead for a few seconds before stepping away from her. Making his way towards the other end of the room, towards the treasure area.

The Princess was seated on the chest still, kicking her legs back and forth. Her eyes watched him and the two girls closing in. "So Snow and Rein?" She asked as she could hear the entire conversation from where she was seated.

"Yup," Jack yawned lightly before walking over to one of the two unopened chests and opened it with his key as he knelt down on one leg in front of it. Inside there was a set of black baggy padded pants with a thin turquoise sash belt and a black hooded sleeveless navy blue gambeson with gold studs in its diagonal quilt-like lines. The skirting of the gambeson went down to his shins. This item was legendary grade.

"Hm..." Glancing over towards the Princess as she was opening her chest, he narrowed his eyes on sets of two gambesons, pants and boots which appeared in the chest. They were all uncommons. Both of them being black, similar to the one which she was already wearing except it was studded.

"Seems like Luck stats actually mean something still..." Jack uttered quietly to himself as he had made the observation before glancing up towards the ceiling. There were quite a few things he could say, but he didn"t feel like saying them.

Comfort wasn"t the thing he usually did, not actively. Like giving those flower shaped crystals to the two sisters, as a memento of their brother. Though really it was just because he had no use for them.

Looking over the prizes, Vivian glanced over towards Snow and Rein, a funny smile across her lips as she held them out for the two to take. Unlike Jack and the players, she had no where to put them.

Jack would be pulling off his robes, the sounding of shifting clothing grabbing all their attention.

Vivian turned her head to look at Jack, her eyes widening as much as they could, seeing his fully customized appearance. Every bit of him was sculpted to perfection, whether or not his appearance was functional or not, it didn"t seem the matter.

He was already superior to any known human in this world, at least to his knowledge. He had yet to meet a true warrior, only bandits, though he was still curious of what became of Sir Reginald.

As he had pulled his robes off over his head, his eyes narrowed on the girls who were watching him. "What?" Shirtless and only in pants and his boots, he tucked the robes into his inventory.

Vivian took a step back from the two and rested her hand on the statue in the center of the treasure room, vanishing from sight without saying a word.

Turning to look to Vivian, both sister"s went wide eyed seeing she was gone. They then shifted their gaze to Jack. "Nothing!" They both pressed their hands against the statue, and after a few seconds, vanished as well.

Jack pursed his lips, now left alone in the treasure room. It was awkwardly quiet, there wasn"t even a mouse scurrying about which made it actually rather dark and eerie, since Vivian took the light with her.

Yet with his wings out, he still illuminated his surroundings, even though just a little.

"This definitely makes it easier to think..." Jack uttered quietly before looking over the statue. It was looking right back down at him with this impatient expression on its stone face. "Oh? Don"t like the company?" The moment he blinked the statue had changed its position, it looked as if it was shrugging.

"Huh..." Letting out a sigh, he would unb.u.t.ton the studded top over his torso. Letting the skirting flaps on either side fall down to at his sides.

"Needs a tunic underneath..." Jack scratched his chest slightly, pulling it back off of himself before taking a common black longsleeve turtleneck tunic out of his inventory and slipping it on before tucking the gambeson back overtop. Once he was finished with that, he would proceed to put a set of runic half-plate back on over his arms, shoulders and torso.

Fully dressed, he went to place his hand against the statue before pausing, enjoying the silence for a good moment before finally resting it on the stone surface as he retracted his wings.

Suddenly a surge of power rushed through him and once more, he was standing in the lobby facing the statue as if he had never left. The pa.s.sage way which had been open was now closed up at his feet.

"Huh..." Jack turned his head and almost immediately froze staring at the head of the Catfolk Elder resting by the feet of a handful of armed knights. "This is a surprise..." Letting out a huff, "Let me guess, you went to the village, and then the village sent you in this direction?"

Stepping out from the group of Knights at the opening of the crevice, was Sir Reginald. Alive and well from what he could see. A small chuckle escaping his lips. "Ah, it would seem this one is pretty bright."

"Oh? It"s the man who lead us to the village and let a handful of night crawlers try to kill us." Jack"s statement sounded monotonous as if he was teasing, though it was only an a.s.sumption.

"It"s a crime to accuse a Knight of a Lord"s Party without proof!" Sir Reginald pointed at him, the other Knights drawing their weapons ready to go at him.

Jack let his eyes relax a bit, closing partially as he could hear the other party members hiding behind the statue. "Did you kill the Catfolk guarding the entrance?"

"Guarding!?" The Knight laughed at this, "They weren"t waiting for you to come out to eat you!?"

Jack wasn"t amused, from what he can tell that tribe of beastmen were benevolent, far more benevolent than how he was feeling now. "So… You"re as corrupt as Sully… Poor Reginald. It seems your sins are catching up with you..."

"So the Naive Paladin has finally caught up to speed… Kill him!"

The other knights didn"t seem to even flinch at the idea of the man in front of them being corrupt. They were all under the take it seemed. When given that order, they all charged with their weapons out to impale him against the stone structure.

"Lady Hamlet made the same mistake," Jack uttered quietly at the once anxious man he had met prior who was fearful of mere beastmen prowling around in the forest at night.

Jack stepped forward, his wings spreading out from behind his back as he"d pull up his hood.

The men tripped over one another, trying to back away at the last minutes notice.

Without hesitation, Jack brought forward his staff and shook his head in severe disappointment. "As I said, your sins have caught up with you, Regi."

Arrogantly unphased by the fact that Jack was indeed an Angel, a Monstrous one at that, he drew his own sword and charged. "My name is Sir Reginald Galvanius Shelbani Wilhelm!"

"I prefer just plain ole Reginald," Pointing his spear towards him and the group of cowering Knights who were seeing an angel for the first time. "Now please, be a good boy and die."

『Scorched Earth』

Four rays of burning plasma rushed from the tip of his weapon, causing further shock at the wordless magic. The shock however, did nothing to save them...

Reginald"s legs came flopping over to Jack"s feet, as all of the Knights had been vaporized from the knees up. Nothing remained of them except for their smoking shins.

Letting out a soft sigh, Jack made a sound of annoyance as the others came out from behind the Statue. "So... Was that head the reason why ALL of you had hid behind the statue?"

Hearing his own head turn, looking over the Princess.

"Y-yes... We saw the head there and when we saw people outside, we moved behind the statue."

"You guys did the right thing..." Jack scoffed at how solemn their faces looked. "I"ll just resurrect the Cat," he turned to look towards the crevice in the wall leading outside.

There were more people outside, shouting. "After we take care of whomever is out there..."
