"Killed your Cats?" Ca.s.sandra sucked on her teeth, not exactly asking for a reply. She was just reflecting on how her father had killed his Cats. "Were they house trained?"Jack just looked over at her as if she had completely misunderstood him. "They were Cat folk who I had asked to cover the entrance of the Dungeon. Where your father had met me."
"Oh right… That was the offense." Ca.s.sandra pursed her lips seeing the face he was making at her. "I remember now."
"That lager definitely killed a few of your brain cells."
Nodding seeing that she finally caught up, Jack would turn his attention towards the tower, as he idly flipped through the pages of the journal. It was nice to see that this world, despite how deprived it seemed to be on the surface, still seemed to have a promising warmth of art.
"That"s not very nice..." He"d hear her murmur under her breath as she was walking beside him. Watching each and every step that was to come and has come to pa.s.s. "I don"t have perfect recall."
When he got around to the fifth or sixth page of the journal, he stuffed it into his inventory. His eyes wandering over the wall they were walking along.
"Perhaps one day you will have perfect recall..." He uttered as he looked over towards the girl. She was a talent he could use later on, even though right now she was purely a political tool.
One that he didn"t want her father to use.
"I"m not picking up anymore Elves in the tower, or along the way there." Jack informed coldly and a.n.a.lytically as he took in his surroundings, just in time for the life detection spell to wear off.
"So is their gear up for grabs or..."
Jack tossed her the magical bow, "Their items are going to my party, the stuff is probably better than what they have now." Which was probably the truth. This was an elite group, they"d probably have better gear than a bunch of starter or beginner level items from the game.
"Eeeeeh?" Ca.s.sandra sounded disappointed, but hardly did she push much further. The last thing she wanted was to be s.e.xually hara.s.sed again, or walloped over the head.
"Mind if we nap in the tower up ahead?" Jack asked rhetorically, not really caring if she minded.
Ca.s.sandra, sensing that this was a rhetorical question, just shrugged. "If it comes with cuddling," she picked up using sarcasm there, all witty like. She enjoyed it when he was cuddling her last night, that was clear as day.
Jack shrugged, he didn"t mind cuddling. If anything it brought peace to mind. Though he could think of doing things, other things, to her. He was no innocent angel, if anything he could be considered the devil in disguise. Which ironically, the Devil was once an angel in mosts texts, though not in the ones that he"s read.
In the books that his family read religiously, in their scriptures, there was no mention of a Devil. No mention of Lucifer, no mention of G.o.d"s Son dying for the sins of man. h.e.l.l was nothing more than a giant washing machine for the soul. It would be Painful, it would burn, yet it had cleansed the soul.
The serpent was none other than the Grim Reaper. The Guide to that of Lost Souls.
Letting out a soft sigh, he turned his eyes to the sky as he had done plenty of times before. A blue sky was up above them. Something that was a rarity in the world he had come from.
It was hard to believe this was all so real every time he took a look at something so natural.
"Jack?"
"It"s nothing," Jack replied automatically with a robotic tone, refocusing his gaze towards the tower. He was tempted to take out and open that journal again, but he was afraid he"d get trapped inside of it.
"Mmmm..." Ca.s.sandra looked up at him for a few seconds more before shrugging.
Despite how fast that sphere had taken out the people inside that tower. It took them over an hour to reach it by foot without teleporting or flying themselves. Even at a run, it would"ve taken about them this long anyways.
"Your father should have more people stationed on these walls..." He"d utter as he looked over the stone tiles at his feet. Then over towards the door of the tower which was only a few several paces away.
Ca.s.sandra shrugged at this, "Plenty of them would get hurt just going up the steps."
Jack fetched a tome from his inventory and held it out to her. It was a tome from the game, so it was more of a magic item than an actual book she was used to.
"Focus some magic into the book. See what happens," Jack wanted to see if the tome worked the same way as in the game. The item he had given her was a tome of 『Lesser Structure Repair』, which would allow the instant repairing of a structure, like stairwell or a small section of the wall at a time.
The moment she followed his instructions, she was engulfed in a blue glow as the spell itself flowed into her head. In a matter of seconds, the glow was gone and she was just standing there with a book in her hands. Her eyes staring at the cover, wider than anyone in the world had ever seen them.
"What kind of book is this!?" Ca.s.sandra exclaimed as she threw it at Jack, taking a step away from him. Her head was starting to hurt a bit, but she could clearly see the structure of the spell in her head. h.e.l.l, she could cast it at will if she wanted to. All the basic information pertaining to it, was in her head as if the magic had become one with her.

Jack had caught that book which she had threw back at him, watching as she was panting and trying to catch her breath as it was becoming more and more evident that it had side effects.
"It"s a tome that teaches you the spell engraved inside of it, the moment you focus magic into it."
"S-so it"s like the magic you used to take knowledge from my head…?"
"Precisely, and thank you for testing if it still works."
"Wait, what…? Did… Did you use me as a test dummy?"
"Yes, you got a problem with that?" Jack teased as he walked in through the tower door.
His eyes dancing over the elven corpses. Two women, four men. His eyes then moved to the dead hostages, two more men.
"Put all the elves in one corner, then put the hostages in a different corner. Then… We"ll rest."
Nodding Ca.s.sandra would walk over to the nearest table and dump the items she was carrying on the table before wadding on over to the corpses. Taking them by the ankles, she dragged the Elves along the stone floor and to the designated corner.
Dropping them, her movements were hardly graceful, and her handling wasn"t respectful.
Jack, didn"t necessarily care about this. Her treatment of the corpses and the way she moved them didn"t even change as she was moving the human corpses towards the south eastern corner of the tower. This seemed to intrigue him from the indifferent treatment between the species, as if there was hope for her yet.
He already knew she didn"t like the idea of slavery either, it was likely her mother shared the same ideal. Though he already figured they hated one another, mostly because her mother was a megalomaniac, at least from her standpoint.
Once she was finished, Jack made his way towards the half-spiral stairwell of stone, and up to the second floor of the tower. When he made it to the second floor, his eyes narrowed on the six twin sized beds lining the walls and a dozen other chests.
Ca.s.sandra came up after him, taking her time, before reaching the top.
"It"s not as big as the one in my room, but they"ll do."
Jack just looked over at her with a brow raised. He could have her lay on top of him, beside him, or even under him. All positions on the bed gave him for access, but only two of them could be considered for cuddling or let alone spooning.
Even then, what was on his mind the most was simply taking a nap. He liked taking naps, it allowed his mind to wander and dream, to feel solace.
Waltzing on over to the bed, Jack sat down and dropped down onto his side before positioning himself in a crescent-like position. One arm in front of him, one on his side.
He watched as Ca.s.sandra made her way over to him and crawled onto the bed.
Jack would intertwine his legs with her own once she laid up against him, like a parasitic vine, as she rested her head on his arm and nuzzled her face into his chest.
His other hand traveled up and caressed the back of her head, combing her hair. It was soft from the bath, and she still smelled like a tropical coconut and an oceanic breeze, which was honestly refreshing.
As he laid there, he began to think about what he should do about the elves. They were going to invade in a few days. Though he was also curious of what kind of report that man would give to his superiors.
Would they believe the word of a single elf?
How would they react to a person who could use magic far beyond their own set of reason?
As he was continuing to think, he closed his eyes and rested his head on the straw pillow.
Immediately he wanted to replace it with a cotton or gel pillow. However he refrained from doing so, allowing his mind to calm and slowly drift to sleep while his mind kept going.
Ca.s.sandra yawned as her eyes were closed. She took in a shallow breath, and released. A small smile across her lips as she took in Jack"s scent. Her fingers came up and curled into his waistcoat.
Despite what he had done, she liked the closeness, even as she was aware of how much access she had given him. She doubted he would go through with any l.u.s.tful thoughts.
Whilst she was wrong, she was somewhat right. He wasn"t going to do something like that to her here. Of all places, the last thing he wanted to be when he was caught, was in a tower filled with a handful of corpses... Having a physical relationship with the Lord"s Daughter.
That perception despite his level of power, didn"t sit well in his mind, nor would it in others.
